Re: Sullivan out!
To be honest, for all the amount of moaning about so called time wasting low bids for players, it’s more alarming to me how much we will actually pay over the odds for the players we end up with.
Kilman cost us almost half of Declan Rice’s fee. That absolutely fucking sickens me.
If Sullivan wasn’t chairman the board would have sacked any chairman that had seen the crippling decline of the last few years.

Also @ mods, how come on this thread you can't edit your posts?8.5m for a 20m player? That is a lot for a World Class negotiator securing world class talent at this point in the window.
Create a lot of smoke and mirrors; work tirelessly on making ludicrous bids early on which we just, miraculously, miss out on.
After all, we do a lot of our "best business" at the end of the transfer window when the deadbeats that the usual suspects can't shift are offered back to Dear old Dave.
Just be patient.
I am sure that the apologists will refer to last years Wan Bissaka deal but I won't buy it.
Sell the best players, get in some deadbeats with no pre season, blame Macaulay and Potter, sack both around Christmas when results reflect the great man's strategy and, provided there are three worse teams than us a job well done by DS.
Don's clown suit and heads back to the circus ring.
Fully agree with that, but you left out one vital, indisputable aspect: we're football fans which means, by default, that we're too fucking stupid to work out what's really going on.
I mean, none of us have owned and/or ran businesses, none of us have worked in finance or public relations/the media and none of us have the ability to understand statistics and identify (obvious) trends.

It's good to have hope. Your next step is to try to get a personality. Do that elsewhere please and help keep the thread on-topic.

Re: Sullivan out!
The latest rumour that we have bid 85 million for a Macaulay/Potter target priced at 20 million yet more evidence ( if true of course ) that Sullivan can engineer the making or breaking of transfers via delays and derisory bids, changing terms, and all kinds of negotiating shithousery. He's done it all his business life and fvcked many many deals up he doesnt want or does not want to pay for. Its why we have always signed a lot of older, proven, experienced players on high wages. The only younger or punt players used to be his Paulista style "gifts" to his manager they didnt ask for.
Being a narcissist like Trump etc, he creates a crisis by not doing any deals until its late then can ride in on his white horse and save the day in the last week or two of the window with players via his shady agent network. The bloke is incompetent at footballing negotiation or simply sabotages them ( players he doesnt pick ) and validates himself as some top negotiator or playing "hard ball" by being a bully or dick, changing terms, offering derisory bids, refusing to play agents etc etc
In other words, Sullivan makes everything about him to the detriment of the club and always has done. He's unlikely to be aware of it and the fact he is a narcissist as most narcs usually arent.
We're on the "road to nowhere" and next season even the "road to the championship" with such an owner in control. The conference cup win was an unintended exception to the other 10-12 years of the 15 he has been in control. With the resources at hand and opportunities they have had its been largely abject failure during his tenure. Worse still, and in keeping with the traits of a narcissist, he never learns, cannot ever admit being wrong or sorry and actually believes he is superior to everyone. All in line with feeling and being a "little man" all his life. At 77 years old he aint ever gonna have an epiphany or spiritual awakening. Hope for the future may only be restored once he is no longer in charge. Of course, knowing our luck we will get an even bigger mentalist taking over but the very low bar he has set with Brady and Gold previously suggests there is a chance we could see better days surely?

More filth from Sullivan by proxy to undermine the manager:

(Carrick being available, basically- of course he wouldn't cost anything as per the modus operandi.)

Re: Sullivan out!
Maybe this is the end game and everyone else on the board are simply waiting for him to hang himself by his own petard...
I don't even blame his sons...I'm sure they have a far better idea of transfer policy and how to sign players than their father but they ain't the principal shareholder.

Gold was 86 when he finally popped his clogs, Sullivan's 76. I reckon we've got at least another 10 years of him running the Club, probably more like 15 years knowing our luck.

Re: Sullivan out!
Once more I am bemused by the ownership and their acolytes bollocks around transfers. Whetstone, under an "Exclusive: Sell on clause revealed" comes up with some fascinating maths around Sunderland's sale of Pierre Akwah.
We bought him for an undisclosed fee from Chelsea in 2021 and sold him on in January 2023, again undisclosed. He had a four and a half year deal.
What is in the public domain is the current deal, Sunderland to Saint- Etienne is around £5.14m so, at 35% around £1.785m would come to West Ham.
Whetstone maintains that Chelsea are due 35% of this sell on.
Why?
Do Chelsea have a twice removed sell on clause?
Surely they are only due the proceeds of the sale from us to Sunderland. Whilst this was undisclosed, was it also, coincidently £5.14m?
As the sale was in January 2023 surely we will have paid, if not all of Chelsea's 35% certainly 2 years out of the 4.5 year deal if the payments were spread (as they often are) would have been paid off by now.
Would this not reduce the amount due to Chelsea on final reckoning of the deal?
Whilst this is a relatively trivial sum and Whetstone's maths only lower expectations to around £1.17m net (in transfer fund terms £877,500 allowing 75% of sales proceeds as broadcast by this mouthpiece earlier) The reality is the numbers and principles do not appear to have much integrity.
I was a bit surprised the Whetstone did not go the whole hog and say that the entire 35% passed through our hands to Chelsea and have done with it, perpetuating the "we are skint" narrative.
A world Class board with World Class communication outlets taking us for a bunch of World Class Berks.
The circus needs to leave town.

Re: Sullivan out!
Your theory is that Sullivan is attempting to show how valuable his stewardship of transfers has been?
I struggle to see how anyone could look at West Ham’s dreadful transfer record since he got involved and reach the conclusion that what is needed to get out of this mess is more of the same. Repeatedly paying over the odds for established players who flop and eventually sold at a loss. Aside from Rice the profit made from player sales over the years is one of the worst of any established Premier League club. He has overseen the assembly at not inconsiderable cost of an old, slow squad on a piecemeal basis without even the hint of a longer term strategy.

Re: Sullivan out!
that'd be believable if he hadn't stuck by a certain manager that consistently depreciated the value of his players (rice, and bowen being rare anomalies). that little cսnt wants full control of everything. I follow other sports, in particular american, and the best club/franchise owners hire extremely professional people to do the front office jobs, and stay the fuck out of the way. we have the reverse scenario
Re: Sullivan out!
I heard a couple of years ago that Sullivan was outvoted by Kretinsky, the Gold family and the main minority shareholders to put a DOF in charge of transfers.
This was apparently 'sold' to Sullivan as the modern way forward if they were ever to be able to sell their shareholdings when a future billionaire opportunity occurs because new owners would want to see a systematic recruitment policy in place.
Sullivan didn't like it but had to accept it gracefully so, he kept some responsibilities. That became apparent when it was admitted that Steidten did the deals but was overruled on the choice of manager and some of the proposed player deals. Sullivan kept a tight control of money but eventually Steidten became portrayed as the bad boy of course. Was he so bad though?.
What we are seeing now is IMO, Sullivan reminding the board what happens when he gets replaced. The constant reminders that we're skint are not just messages for fans. They also remind the directors what happens when he is taken off transfers as he no doubt forecast.... .

To paraphrase Mark Twain: “I don’t wish anyone dead, but there are some obituaries I look forward to reading with great pleasure.”
