Interested to know what any casual observers made of Gary Numan’s set on the Park stage.

I saw a warm up gig in a club in Brighton last week and really enjoyed it. Having said that, I think the natural place for this sort of performance is in a dark club, with sufficient volume that it ‘worked’.  

Daylight on a festival stage to a casual crowd that appeared to just want to hear the hits did not seem like a great setting for this to me?

I love Weld - one of my favourite live albums and a proper old school racket.

Weld is probably the best Crazy-horse album... I had the 2CD version, the 2nd CD is as mad as hell, some say it was the birth of grunge. I never got the 2nd Cd but the first is amazing especially 'Cortez the Killer'...

The POINT was people welcoming refugees are hypocrites because they accept that a music festival needs security so that it is restricted to ticket holders

So why don’t they give a few thousand  free tickets to Syrian and Afghani refugees every year

My main issue with Glastonbury is that the lineups are fucking abysmal and it seems to be exclusively attended by gen z cunts with their phones in the air. 
Obviously these things are mainly aimed at the aforementioned gen z cunts but there used to be a big of a mix of people and acts which is what made it an interesting fun place to be. 
Now one album and some woke political views will get you a headline spot. Emily Eavis is the festival equivalent of AIDS. Let's hope the pneumonia kicks in quickly.

We're talking about hypocrisy, Joe. And anyway, the big acts don't need the money, they play massive shows everywhere and earn fortunes.

The main point though was environmental impact of that, for what amounts to a few narcissists prancing about on stage and a load of people going to watch, in the eyes of the eco warriors that mostly attend these sorts of events, how can that be justified when the environmental footprint is as big as it is? You've got working class people being charged for driving work vans into London to do actual hard work day in day out, yet these people are paid to bring in this environmental impact? The whole thing is outright hypocrisy.

I'm personally not against events like these, btw. But that's not the point being made.

So the stage crew, sound/light engineers, local crew, caterers, truck drivers, forklifts,  telehandlers, security people etc etc should all do about 10 days graft for nowt then?

I’ve ben reading some online criticism of Neil Young’s performance last night, I thought he played well for a 79 year old and seems to have put together a decent band.

He improved as it went on. There seems to be an issue as the opening songs have been a bit dodgy for a quite a few of the acts. John fogerty was also good for 80 years old.

I like a bit of early Neil Young (70's), though I do find it comical that Glastonbury has to rely on the Grandad generation for 'proper music' acts, Joe Strummer must scratching his skull in disbelief at how low this musically inept event has become.

btw... Strummer was a jew... Glastonbury would've had him tarred, feathered then stoned at the post yesterday, how times change.

Especially one that has created an elite area where people fly in in helicopters (£13,950 from London I was reading today)

You have no idea just how much it costs to organise a festival of this size. The trucks are a grand a day and the tour buses are about 1300. That's just the bit i know about.

To say do it for free with free tickets is laughable.
