Even  though I sympathise with Palestinian cause I do have a problem with chants like "'Death to The IDF". However why is everyone focusing on 1 bloody act out 100s which was a bit controversial and one guy out of 200,000 people wearing I guess an IRA supporting balaclava.

There's a lot more to it than the bits they show on the BBC.

The times I went we rarely went to the big stages - One notabl exception was when Oasis played the Pyramid Stage and they were terrible having clearly enjoyed everything available in the green room. Not sure if it was the same year but we also saw Orbital and The Cure back and they were both wonderful.
Last time I went we camped next to Lost Vagueness and were very close to Joe Strummer and his buddies (they'd managed to get caravans there). The house band at Lost Vagueness were a hilarious arabic folk/funk/punk band called the Bagdhadis. Late nights every night as the place shut up shop at 5am. The place did cocktails, Belgian beers and the best coffee on the entire site. It wasn't eye-wateringly expensive either.
Highlight was Cardics playing on the Greenpeace stage

Really not sure what the point of criticising the lineup for Glastonbury is?

It sells out long before anyone knows who is playing. I am reliably informed that the vast majority of punters go there now purely because they like the event. Many will choose a handful of acts to see out of the hundreds and hundreds there but some hardly see any. A few of the people my son was there with saw Biffy and that was it!

Seems to me that the music is really secondary to the event itself. It's a bit of an outlier in this respect.

 

I agree with most of that but I wouldn't say the music is secondary. Generally it's quite varied in it;s lione up and appeals to a wide age group. Watching live music in a crowd as a shared experience is great.

Only an absolute cretin like Vexed would say all the line up was abysmal. 

The feedback I get is very much that of a bunch of early 20 somethings who are largely focussed on the multi-day party aspect of the whole thing. With an audience as large as Glastonbury's, there must be a wide range of reasons for people going. 

Very true. All sorts going on beyond just Acts encouraging Terrorism where kids can fuck about on rides, market stalls or stroke furry walls in nature if that's your thing.

No, what he did was a lot more serious than what Lucy Connolly said. Inciting violence to kill all of the IDF (Israeli people) openly at a popular Public event aimed at a mass crowd/worldwide audience to join in with, but the difference here is 2Bob doesn't retract his statements at all, in fact double downs on it. Whereas Connolly did delete hers soon after and regretted posting it which was seen by a lot less of an audience in any case.

2Bob should be banged up for his blatant act of encouraging mass violence, as is Freedom of Speech only being allowed for 1 but not for others in society and it is all very serious.

The more I bother to think about it, the more it's obvious what a giant cock up the BBC made.

They surely would have had discussions about what would happen if one of the many LOOK AT ME bands did something to gain attention to themselves by doing something like this.

Yup- people go for the event over anything else. Some because they just love it, and some insufferable posers because it's 'cool' to be seen there and to put a load of shit on instagram. Very rare any artist is confirmed before the tickets go on sale.

The music is just as for mass/broad appeal and diversity as much as it can possibly be and is all painfully appropriated by the upper and middle classes as their nice safe suburban hip 'Mecca'. Personally barely any of it interests me and I get put off by the BBC's embarrassing blanket coverage and wanking themselves dry over every single act, who apparently all have played the greatest music ever heard by human ears. I might watch 1-2 of them on iPlayer after it's over but mostly it's stuff I'd be bored out of my mind standing in a field watching and as it costs about £400 to boot, fuck that. I'd rather go to Spain for a week.

Obviously these things are mainly aimed at the aforementioned gen z cunts but there used to be a big of a mix of people and acts which is what made it an interesting fun place to be. 
Now one album and some woke political views will get you a headline spot. Emily Eavis is the festival equivalent of AIDS. Let's hope the pneumonia kicks in quickly.
