There was always something about Antonio that I thought he could possibly make a go of being a Manager one day if he focused on doing it after finishing his playing career. Could see him commanding instant respect from players but it's also his wiliness to maximise situations in a game I think he could rub off on his players. Sure, his past antics as being a dodgy flash motor driver won't be setting  a good example but no one's perfect.

Potter suggesting the U21 gig is there waiting for him in a mentor capacity if he wants it (sure he'll make a fortune more in punditry).

Can see him being one of those who was a Club favourite who ends up talking quite badly of the Club post career. 

There's a video of him doing the rounds already where he talks about how he never got wage parity with the like os Ings, Scamacca and Haller, despite seeing them all off and remaining steadfastly number one.

So I had a similar thought that I could imagine Antonio being on a Free ticking over in the gym and should Potter get the boot during the season, I could see him possibly joining a la CFC style. It's unlikely but could see that happening if Potter does fuck it up. Sullivan loves Antonio.

Officially gone. Deserved a much better send-off than that end of the season after all his mammoth contribution to the Club this past decade. 

I'd also sooner have Antonio on 1 robocop leg as a 3rd/4th Striker back-up than perma-crock himself Wilson for just 1 season. To think we swapped out a proper West Ham player for that twat.  

And yes of course what I say is mostly driven by sentimentality but some things do actually mean something to me in the game.

I watched the end of his game against Panama last night.  


It was interesting/sad but not surprising that his legs were visibly different sizes.


I guess the point is that he is still a ways from top level football.

Was he running in a straight line or in circles?
And was he actually any good at all? I'm assuming no.

The game I saw, he came in for about 11 minutes at the end in the left side of midfield and couldn't keep up with the pace of the game. CONCACAF doesn't exactly match the prem for pace either.

The club have announced what they are doing. He is a free agent until his medical situation (which they will continue to pay for) is clear. If all goes well, they will re-sign him, in the meantime he is free to leave if someone else is dumb enough to sign him.

Not sure there is an intention to sign him if he shows good signs of recovery?  However well he recovers, he's 35 years old and wasn't good enough for another year before the car crash.  Expect they are just supporting him fully through recovery which must be very close seeing as he's played for Jamaica now.

this antonio in or out saga just reminds me of the whole Carlton Cole fiasco. When we released him back in 2023, only just to resign him again on the eve of the transfer window shutting as we couldn't get anyone else over the line!

Its a huge thank you Mikey for everything you have done for us, but it would be a shame to see you run out for next year, because it means its going to be a another long season to watch!

Have to say didn't realise he was 35! That is getting on. Still wouldn't mind seeing him coming on from the bench when needed. But difficult to move on for me with some players.
