Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

I imagine there will be a couple of players coming in before the deadline and a couple going out. I have no idea who and unlike the YouTube “ experts “ who think they are in the know I won’t make bullshit up.

Tomorrow the midfield will be slow but we might get away with it against Sunderland but long term we won’t

A lot of talk about Leverkusen wanting Alvarez to replace Granit Xhaka, with their new manager ten Hag having coached him at Ajax.

Right on all counts there Scorch, however can you imagine the meltdown on here if we were paying £43m for Ouattara?

You've got a point, but let's face it, if right now we were at -£125m net spend like Bournemouth or even -£5m like Brentford then people would be going apeshit and accusing Sullivan of pocketing the money, not praising the club for buying low and selling high. And really you can't compare a free transfer like Callum Wilson with someone like Ouattara who cost £20m, as if it's an either/or situation.

Brentford buying Ouattara for 42 million from Bournemouth.

Embarrassing for us twice.

Firstly yet another 'small' club with more spending power than us (Thanks to making almost 100 million in the transfer market this summer)
Secondly, Bournemouth absolutely raking it in- 200 million this summer. What a reward for their talent spotting and coaching staff. They can retool three times over with that money. Imagine being some braindead fucker who thinks buying shit like Callum Wilson is a better move than investing in young talent.

I didnt realise how middle class David Sullivan actually is. Really weird. Apparently, son of an RAF service man, grammar school boy and read economics at Queen Mary. When hardly anyone went to university at all. Strange that he ended up a pornographer and "del-boy tribute act" lol.

unless it’s the usual smokescreen why not get them before they flourish!
And we will pass on him, and then next summer he will be sold somewhere for 40 million and we'll be asking the question why didn't we get him for 20 this summer?

Well, we all have differing opinions about which players to buy and at what price. That's life, innit?

But our pre-season has now almost passed. The Premier League begins tomorrow night, and I'm not around during the day.

So, whatever the fuck happens, I hope it's a season that's all about our fans. There's plenty that divides us, and yet one thing unites us all.

Enjoy another season on the highway to hell that is West Ham, one and all. This club is always about its fans. You cunts.

The irritating thing is we DID identify him last year.

And didn't move for him.
I meant identify as a target and go for him, not simply be aware who he is and that he’s available.
Ah, well adding the 'and go for him' is quite key then.

Yup I agree. There's almost a growing laundry list of players we were interested in or linked with but never pursued when they were comparative peanuts but then went on to become very good, very expensive players.

Two of them just arrived at Arsenal and Liverpool right now, indeed.
This is exactly my point about bad business. We are not in a position to bully clubs for their best players, like Liverpool and Arsenal. We can’t afford it, as if it doesn’t work out there isn’t a second tier of clubs that will take our cast offs, like Chelsea Arsenal etc. We need to be the club that takes the gamble, like Palace, Brighton and Bournemouth and sell to the big clubs.

A good example was Alfie Mawson at Swansea, as soon as he was in form we were linked with him and his value went up from an initial rumour of a 20m bid, to Swansea wanting 50m.  He went a year later to Fulham for 20m and was utter shit. At 31 he is playing league one football for Wycombe.

Even at 35m Fernandes would equal what we paid for Paqueta or Kudus, who were far more established players. Or a better comparison is he is currently valued almost as costly as the combined fees paid for Wan Bissaka, Bowen and Soucek.

The club needs to be more careful with how we spend money, and need to identify players like Fernandes before the likes of Southampton.
