Agree with goose. That was pretty boring except from the Hermansen save and Diouf shot.
I would have thought both Diouf and AWB would be far more busy up the field.
Hopefully we will see some more intent when we are behind...

Bit frantic first half. But overall not too displeased. Seem to be playing as a unit for once. Expecting to see a more settled second half which will give a better insight into what they are capable of. Agree with the comment about making  better use of Fulkrugs abilities. New keeper seems an upgrade on Areola.

I don’t think it’s been that bad at all! Fear people have a predetermined opinion!

The football for the Diouf chance was nice. Fullkrug been close with a few flicks to Bowen. He’s a smart player.

Dare I say “shocking footballer” Guido has been quite good 🙂 (he might be limited but is absolutely not a shocking footballer!) - a few good progressive passes, breaks up play well. It’s JWP that is the backward and sideways passer of that duo.

Lots of muggy comments on this thread.
That was a good half against a very defensive side who have 10 players in the defensive third when we have the ball, so pacy passing is impossible against such a crowded area.
Some muppets on here neexto comment on the actual game rather than comment with an agenda.

I thought that was ok
one shank aside, Hermansen looks the part and you can tell the back 3 are much happier to give him the ball
Midfield as ponderous as expected and centre backs always capable of a ricket but I thought we looked to get forward. Obviously others here didn't.

we did ok, but we're way too slow and wasting the possession we have at times. If we an get our shit together going forward Sunderland are there for the talking.  Diouf looks like a player. Todibo and AWB having good games.

Dioufs started well, could have got on the scorehseet if not for that last ditch clearance by the defender. Both sides could have scored already.

I'd have Alvarez ahead of him and in fact Potts too. You cant play him and JWP teams will literally walk through that midfield.

Soucek not even mentioned, our biggest threat in front of the oppositions goal and 1 of our better Midfielders out of all of them at defending our own box!
Yup he's shit and slow!
So shit he helped contribute to 11 goals last season you spanner! 🤣

Hopefully its a getting-to-know-you type performance from Sunderland given they have SEVEN new signings in their side and, we can take advantage. Really important we get off to a positive start
