Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

Window this close season comes in two parts:

Yeah, whatever you say Wicked Witch of the West Ham.

As for moving on Kudus this summer, no one will convince me that was the right thing to do. Sure he was a pain in the arse but under the right management he would flourish and would be a serious asset to have in anyone's side. What you don't do is flog him on the relative cheap when his potential is so much higher. Dogshit Economics. And certainly not to your fierce London rivals! 💩

By the way I happened upon this article where Brady discusses selling Kudus to Spurs. (Assume she mentioned this on her interview- apologies if previously discussed)

Lies, lies and throwing the player under the bus to justify their actions.

It's just nasty.

https://ghanasoccernet.com/west-ham-vic ... s-to-spurs

Karren Brady, the vice-chair of West Ham United, has finally lifted the lid on Mohammed Kudus' departure from the London club.

Kudus left the Hammers to join their London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs for a fee around £55m in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old hit the ground running since joining Spurs, contributing a brace of assists on his Premier League debut for the club.

Fans of West Ham have labelled the Ghanaian attacker as a traitor for leaving to join their London nemesis.

However, their vice-chair revealed the decision was purely financial and that the club had to 'do some trading'.

"It's always difficult to lose players that you want to keep. But the financial restraints and the PSR and all the rules and regulations in football mean that you have to do some trading," she told talkSPORT.

"That's just the way it is. All clubs are having to do it. You're either restricted on what you can buy because you have to be careful of the financial rules or you have to sell to try and buy. So that was the decision that was made," she added.

While revealing the decision was a financial one, she also admitted the player could not live up to his first season form.

[Kudus] didn't have a particularly good season for West Ham last year by his own standards. So we looked to move on," she said.

Kudus made 80 appearances for the Hammers and scored 19 goals before leaving the club in July.

Vague muddy reference to PSR which we know is bollocks and as well as 'all the rules and regulations' clearly ambiguously thrown in on the assumption we're all idiots. The only grain of truth there is that we were potless but she won't admit the damning truth.

Then she flip flops and says he was crap and THAT was the reason. Make up your mind. Essentially lying and saying there was nothing they could do to avoid selling him and he isn't any good to try and cover their own backs.

"It’s not actually what Potter wants at all. He actually wants what we are seeing. He doesn't want to create loads of chances. He doesn't want quick transitions. He doesn't want more direct football at all."

Sorry but I think that's crap. To actually believe and say that a coach wants us to play slow boring football is just rubbish. Of course, Potter doesn't want that. In interviews he has even said he wants us to play positive, attacking football with flair, which is what West Ham were once known for.

What he is struggling with is how to get to that. He has a method but its too slow in the process. He may not even have the ability to get there. Yes, he wants a solid back line with one or two solid holding players, but he clearly and obviously wants wide players and attackers to play positive attacking football.

Yes, its frustrating and infuriating. But to say Potter actually wants and is actively coaching slow boring football is just letting your emotions cloud your logic.

If it quacks its a duck mate.
Sometimes we over think things. If someone for 8 months has picked the same type of team with the same style of play and then makes JWP vice captain in the area where we need speed then its pretty obvious to me this is what he wants.

If he wanted something different he has had 2 windows to find it. He has Potts & Fearon as well. If he desperately needed to change it he could bring AWB centrally and put KWP as right wing back. He has options all over the fucking place.

The reality is THIS is how he thinks football should be played. He’s had 8 months now, what dont you believe from your own eyes?

In some ways it’s classic Serie A style football from the 90s. Maybe he thinks it’s a counter to the way other PL teams work and he thinks that’s the best way to be successful. Whatever his reasons, how can you conclude any different from what he’s throwing out on the pitch week after week?
They haven't got him in a single midfielder since he's been here. All they've done is get rid of a few and are looking to get rid of more. If when he eventually gets one which is HIS choice- not Sullivans- and it's a plodder, then I'll say you're correct about this. However it won't be a plodder. It'll be a high energy young player, so I'm very confident I'll be saying you're incorrect about it.

*Correction

Potter chose to prioritise the Kudus money on a new Left-Back and Goalkeeper first. If he was so keen to get in a new Midfielder then he would have prioritised accordingly. And even when he has a promising young Midfielder in Potts, he bottled to start him.

It’s all starting to dawn on me like some horror movie when you get to the final scene and you realise whats happening!

JWP and Guido are not bugs, they are features of the program.
He basically thinks his wing backs are the only people that should move forward at any pace, everything else is slow and controlled. And he wants the new keeper simply so he can extend all the passing in our own half and keep the ball more without threatening anything.

He literally would be ecstatic to win all his games 1-0, or draw.

We are so fucked.

All looks solid to me, Massive. But you do also have to add Aguerd, Cornet and Ward-Prowse back onto the wage bill. They were mostly off it last season - hence we had the capacity to bring Soler expensively etc.

I won’t pretend to be an expert on our accounts. But I can believe 100% the idea that we’re a bit of a financial shower. PSR, cash flow…whatever the reason, I can believe our board - which overspends on shite, under-invests in young talent etc and rewards crap agents - is not covering itself in glory.

I looked a bit deeper in to what the others are on here with 3 different sources saying the same wages for them..

Ward-Prowse £115k
Cornet £65k
Aguerd £50k

=230k

120 - Ings
115 - Ward-Prowse
100 - Antonio
100 - Kudus
80 - Fabianski
65 - Cornet
60 - Coufal
60 - Cresswell
50 - Aguerd

=£750k

80 - Hermansen
80 - Diouf
40 - Walker-Peters
10+ - Wilson

=£210k

£540K to play with before any other sales, yet they want us to believe we cannot budget unless we sell someone else. Bullfuckingshit.
Dont forget Zouma (4?) LOL
I didn't include his wage because they were effectively off the wage bill out on loan anyway.

I was calling for Mourinho a while back. Yes please, if he's the best we can get. He'd create a shitstorm that would be so fucking entertaining, even if it was just to finally destroy the BS Regime if the wheels came flying off. It just feels like a good fit for us both for the fans and himself. Cocky, funny, not afraid to upset the order, it just feels right. Sure there's the Chelsea connection but I did note how it ended sour upon one of his last returns there where he mugged off the ungrateful fans of the titles he helped win for them. I reckon it would piss their fanbase off to see him do well with us. Out of all the Chelsea gimp cսnt Managers we should have gone for, it was only him. 1 to watch maybe..

I won’t argue that selling players helps, but loaning them with no obligation to buy is just nonsensical.

great bit of business for Jose though. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him rock up here one day, he’s got Sullivan written all over him.
Mourinho would scare the shit out of Sullivan. He'll never appoint someone so outspoken who would not hesitate to publicly call out his absolute bullshit and paint him as the incompetent, penny pinching shyster which is Sullivan's biggest fear. He'd probably openly dare him to fire him as well. It would be fucking entertaining. It would be an absolute nightmare for them. They'd never ever be able to succeed with their smear tactics against him. I'd love it. One of the big reasons Bilic went was he started to call out their bullshit,.but he's not anywhere near as powerful a voice as Jose.

'I wanted this player and this player, and the owner purposely shot down the deal and then tried to give me these players I don't want because of his agent friend. He promised me everything and this and delivered nothing.'

I'd love it if that happens. LOVE IT.

It won't happen but yeah, Jose Mourinho would fucking incinarate these owners but beforehand he would disembowel and eviseate that horrible teflon midget cսnt and his performative feminist sidekick.
It would be fucking superb. And all over the media everywhere. Ah we can dream....

I agree completely. Of course he doesn't want to do that. Largely he's forced into doing it because what he wants to do absolutely demands a couple of fast high energy midfielders who can cover huge areas quickly and get up and down the park and the board seemingly are flatly so far refusing to get these players for him (no doubt after promising him his pick of them previously) It's the most important part in the way he wants to play and it just won't work without them. Teams just walk through us because the players in there are not good enough at the role they are needed to play.

Assume Sullivan knew that this is how Potter plays when he hired the man and was well aware of what he needed to recruit to make it work. What's the point in hiring him knowing this if you're not going to give him the tools to do it. Should Potter change the way he plays? Maybe, but Sullivan KNEW what sort of manager he was hiring so to get him in and then force him into changing his philosophy is just beyond stupid.

Why did he pick Guido and JWP? No idea. It's clear now why he didn't pick wantaway Alvarez. The only logical reason I can think of is that it was a message to Sullivan. Get me those players you promised me or we are fucked. Not to defend her but part of me actually wonders if what Brady said on the radio about it being obvious we needed pace in there was a message to Sullivan. She's likely to be on Potter's side in this.

Anyway we've done it to death but it all comes down to little napoleon not giving his employees the tools they need and instead wasting what little resource we do have on shit like Callum Wilson and probably resigning Antonio for a cheap as chips deal to boot so neither gets lonely in the treatment room.

An interesting look at he opposite ends of the Cock Piss stages of grief.

Russ is still at stage one, denial.

360 has reached stage five, acceptance.

Other's are still bargaining a few signing will fix it. Most are just angry or depressed.

Didn’t Potter have Caicedo & McAllister as his Brighton midfield ?
Hard work , energy , control
I cant believe he wants a couple of slugs like Rodriquez & JWP in there by choice
Though he does keep picking them
And we won’t beat anyone if that continues

It’s all starting to dawn on me like some horror movie when you get to the final scene and you realise whats happening!

JWP and Guido are not bugs, they are features of the program.
He basically thinks his wing backs are the only people that should move forward at any pace, everything else is slow and controlled. And he wants the new keeper simply so he can extend all the passing in our own half and keep the ball more without threatening anything.

He literally would be ecstatic to win all his games 1-0, or draw.

We are so fucked.

Finally, someone gets it.

This isn't purgatory and a couple of midfields pay the roll and release us.

We skipped purgatory and went straight to hell.

He got one plan, it's boring, it's out of date and it's totally inflexible.

Why?  Genuine question....

Least Dyche would have a style of play and would be a bit inspiring. I would hate the Dyche appointment, but i reckon i'd back him to get more points than Potter will with this squad over 38 games. I also reckon they'd show more fight and desire playing for Dyche

Potter has been here months, he has signings, he has changed the formation,  and we're still absolutely fucking dreadful. Players want out, thats how inspired they've been by his pre season.

Like Lopetuigui, Its starting to feel like  'well they can't be any worse can they?'

He has signings? He has Mads and Diouf, Wilson was not his signing and nor was Todibo.

He has given a list of targets to the club but they won't pay for them.

The fact you think Dyche is an upgrade is rather sad, we wanted Moyes gone because his style of football was so dull and you want to replace him with Moyes 2.0..........grind out some 1-0 wins.

I would rather be relegated and start again with a new younger, hungrier manager......and new owners.
But you just told me that they wont get a young hungry manager?

I doubt Sullivan sells if we drop, he will use the parachute money to try and come back up and then maybe sell.

so for me i'd rather stay up with Dyche then go down with Potter. For me personally out stadium in the championship will be awful, we dont have a spine that we can rely on to stay and i don't back the owners getting in the right manager or being good enough in the transfer market to build a promotion capable squad.
They won't get a young hungry manager now, they would rather get someone who will bore us all to death and get us a 17th place finish. The only way we get an upcoming manager is if we are relegated. Noble probably 😆

I have no issue with a loan to buy deal plus it get's his wages off the bill and frees up some more money for a new signing or three.
That’s because you’re an idiot.
It's shit isn't it, because nothing is guaranteed and then we could have a player one year older and one year less on his contract next year, you'd need to be a proper thick cսnt to not see that.

In the space of just 2 years since we lucked out with the Conference Cup BS manage to sell Rice to Arsenal, Kudus to Spurs and Paqueta to Palace.

The entire joint would fucking go OFF. 💥😆

Potter and Macaulay  ( lets put aside whether Potter is competent for a moment because like it or not he aint going anywhere before the transfer window shuts and probably not before Oct) have made clear we need a number 6 and number 8. The “legs” , energy, pace requirement. We all agree on that. So its now about getting quality for the here and now.

We have left it very late in the window as many of us predicted Sulivan would but this Makua looks like a great player at 20 years old as the young player we need who should hopefully appreciate in value.  We have to hope Macaulay has the data analytics and stats to back up our “eyes” that saw a very good no 17 laying for Lille the other week.

Im not totally against Bissouma as the number 6 on loan initially. Yes he does give off a “billy big bollox” vibe ( and was accused of abusing a young woman but not proven is hardly a great character reference ) but he was brilliant at Brighton albeit 2 years younger in a Potter system. He would complement the younger Makua with his experience of the Premiership. He’s still quick and strong. I watched him at the back end of last season in a few games. The issue with him is injuries. He’s had a fair few since joing Spuds. But we need to mitigate the risk and time of Makau or a younger player getting up to Prem speed with a “ready now” player with proven quality. Bissouma looks like the best of whats left available with 2 weeks left to fit that requirement?

The bigger risk is Sullivan “shithousery” on negotiations and deal making now with only 2 weeks. It seems he can only do one thing at a time so is probably more focused on getting Alvarez’s wages off the books and some loan fee dosh in asap before he will start on getting players in. High risk we get no one
