"Gnonto from Leeds now being heavily linked Interesting one - very raw but seemed to have bags of pace and skill last season, but fallen out with Farke Him and Rowe from Norwich would be a very interesting double signing"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Phillips is a northern Mama's Boy. Sure he would goto one of the European elites. (Who wouldn't.!) But outside a northern powerhouse. He ain't coming south of the Watford Gap. City may have a Sancho type issue on their hands. And may have to send him back too Leeds and take the hit.? Remember. Never take a player who thinks they are doing you a favour.!

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Phillips makes no sense. With Alvarez and JWP, I don't see where he fits in. He doesn't replace Soucek as they are totally different players. Moyes may be thinking about squad depth, which is fair enough, but unfortunately between Moyes and Sullivan we are still not a club that people will come to and play squad roles. Phillips will come and demand game time. Simple as that."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
which would make signing Phillips now even more of a waste. if you're gonna replace Soucek then it has to be someone who is going to bring a goal threat but also is more composed on the ball. centre mid is a position we are fairly well covered so our money is best spent eslewhere.

"he even played our best player out of position to keep soucek in the team. if phillips did arrive, it would be alvarez or jwp on the bench"

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I like Broja but at 30 million you could get a striker who has scored more than 30 odd goals in his whole career. He lives off his good season on loan at Southampton but even then he scored just 6 goals in 32 league appearances. Not worth the £££ quoted in the slightest even if we was buying him straight off the back of that season.

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Broja had half a good season almost 3 years ago. I hope we're not sniffing around him at that price.
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Imagine a midfield 3 of JWP, Phillips and Alvarez?? At least Soucek gets forward every now and again. Phillips over Soucek upgrades us massively... Not that I'm saying we should sign him, but it just does."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"£7m on a loan of a player who may not even start regularly? No thanks. Imagine a midfield 3 of JWP, Phillips and Alvarez?? At least Soucek gets forward every now and again."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Phillips it fit would be a good loan. Potential to improve the team’s ability to keep the ball if, big if, he replaced Tommy Potatoe Salad. Another CB and Bergwijn wide left would be as good as it gets. 2 of the above would need to fulfill homegrown quota. Phillips does I assume? Don’t expect it to happen especially with only 12 days left. But those 3 might even mask or compensate for some of Moyes limitations Probably 2 of the 3 would be loans All the above is likely wishful thinking I realise"

"Surely Phillips will want some guarantee of game time, he can't go from sitting on City's bench for 2 years then onto our bench, Euro's coming up too. I see Woy has already said he will play at Palace."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I’m very concerned when Alvarez doesn’t play so I would like some decent cover for him.
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"So much wasted brinkmanship in these windows. It seems all the hefty movement is within the final 48 hours or so, meaning, a who,e month has passed by. For us right now, each passing day which we fail to recruit is crucial. Maybe we won’t do much or next to nothing - but if we do, it will be last minute. We need additions now."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Given the fact Moyes can't seem to move on from anything (even 1970's football tactics) then I fully expect him to go all out for Broja only for him to reject him.

"I note that Ekitike is on the radar again. Story I have seen is that the three other clubs in for him were Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and the mighty Crystal Palace. But all of them have gone cold over his £100k pw wage demands. I see why. He's not yet proven. But if we move Ings out then we have the salary to pay him. Personally, I feel the better player from the three strikers we are rumoured to be linked with out of Moise Keane, Ekitike and Giurrassy is the latter. Ekitike would be decent signing though."
