Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Corners first 90 mins in 2 seasons was against Bristol. He wasn’t much kop except when wide left when he looked more comfortable and put in our one decent cross for Soucek to score except Potatoe Salad managed to put it straight at the keeper. He probably is a write off but would like to see him in one more game to see if any improvement. If there is then maybe another game as it takes 3 or so to get match sharpness.
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"I’m no moyes hater, but I agree with that too Russ Paqueta is wasted on the left but makes the most of it because he’s so good. He should be central with an actual left winger on the left But Moyes generally seems to love wide players who cut inside.some wingers hate doing that. Cornet clearly cannot play down the right - he likes going by players down the line, and at the start of last season it looked like he could do that for fun and pick out scamacca in the middle. I guess without a target man, perhaps having players come inside works better, but ings surely would have preferred some balls played across the box between the defence and goalie to attack instead of balls to his feet or clipped crosses he can’t win. Fornals is another example like paqueta - played on the left for a couple of seasons, largely because there wasn’t anyone else, and was at his best cutting inside, picking up balls from Antonio and longing cross field diagonals to bowen; or coming inside to create space for masuaku and cresswell to overlap when we had a wing back system. I dont think it’s any surprise that fornals started looking poor when bowen lost form along with Antonio. But he should be able to link up well with Emerson. Ironically though, fornals was an 8 before he joined us too, and a bloody good one. He only went on the left as there was no one else."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Bowen as a striker is working though and does accommodate both him and Kudus. Chuck Paqueta in the mix and we have a front three that a lot of other clubs are envious of. Plus they can all switch during play, which makes them even more effective. Bowen also likes playing up front and is the kind of player who will really work hard to get better and improve."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Russ, I agree with that. But I was just making a point that not everything can be blamed on Moyes (although there’s a lot that can). For me, it’s up to Cornet to show what he can do in training and when given the chance in games - and he has failed miserably."

"I agree with that, Russ. Not sure Moyes's blind followers will though."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Pagey 4:21 Thu Jan 18 Just playing devil's advocate for the sake of it. But Moyes bought Paqueta when he played as an 8 for Lyon and Brazil and then played him as a 10. He realised his mistake and eventually moved him deeper but then found it would upset Soucek's position in the side so he then farmed him out to the left. Paqueta has survived because he is so fucking good. Another player that is not so good may have been damaged and diminshed by Moyes tinkering. And look at Bowen being played as a striker. Not his best position at all.

"""No one would have thought.Chelsea would have got £60 million for Mount"" He was clearly ""Rice bait"", but friendship is not everything."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Broja is actually getting more minutes at Chelsea this season than I thought he was. He's missed a fair few through injury after being out for 9 months but he's played in every match he's been available for, even if mainly as a sub. He seems to be their 2nd choice striker behind Jackson, but started 4 of the last 6 league games, so he's not a complete reject like Ings, although obviously not worth close to £50m either."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
No one would have thought.Chelsea would have got £60 million for Mount. But what’s that old saying about separating a fool from his money.? Same thing here. It’s bleeding obvious this is now the hedge fund runner MO.The homegrown quota. And the Premiership tax all add up to a very healthy return.
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"RBshorty 2:57 Thu Jan 18 I guess so, but why offer him in the first place then. I also find it funny that a player who can't get minutes for a mid-table team is being offered for 50 mil. If it's to get the right side of FFP, they may have painted themselves into a corner."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Just like he destroyed Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus? I’m not defending him at all, but there has to be a balance and Moyes can’t be blamed for everything. Cornet has earned an absolute fortune from us and done absolutely fuck all. He’s basically nicking a living now and has no pride. Nice work if you can get it."

He will get destroyed by Moyes just like Cornet has.

"Gnoto 5ft 7, can't see Moyes going in for him plus he spends half the time on the floor."

Sniper - good little player. Scored the goal similar to PDC. Always been impressed when I’ve seen him.

"Phillips is good I agree, but hard to see where he fits in. Gnonto would excite me. I'm on the fence with Broja, if we could get him for around 30m that isn't that much considering his age and he could improve, we have goals in our side already so I don't think he would come with the burden of scoring a hatful, he'd basically be an Antonio replacement?"

"Philipps is a good player but CM is probably our strongest position. LB, RB, CB, AML and ST is where we need players"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"If having Phillips means we can move Paqueta centrally, Im all for it. I think we often carry both Soucek and JWP at times, so an option of two DMs + Paqueta would be better for some games."

"Apparently, we had a bid of £35m for Broja rejected last Summer. Now Chelsea wants nearer £50m. Hope we don't go for him at these prices."
