Summer Transfer Window 2025 | Official Thread

Post stubbo-admin »

May as well get going with this since with Sullivan at the helm, season ticket renewals slow, and the football vacuum to commence, this will soon be all the "news" there is.

Can Potter and MacCauley pull multiple rabbits out of the hat, or will Sullivan 'try really hard' with all of them before grabbing a few aging bargains from Big Willie Salthouse?

They have a complete nutjob as a owner, who is driven to be at the top. Had a taste of it last year, now got Europe and wants more.  Geezer is dodgy as anything, loads of history around it....but all he does is to compete and win. The Gibbs-Whtie saga proved that.

Sullivan just wants cash and to finish 17th. Oh and to sell one of our best players to Spurs.

i know I keep banging the same old drum and I really couldn't give a fuck about any other club but how the fuck do we not have any money when us and Forest each sell a player for £55m, each then spend or cover 35-40m on players but then Forest go and spend an extra £94m on three players plus in addition to those they have now confirmed they are also signing Doulas Luiz from Juventus. Akanji as a stop gap for a few seasons makes sense, he is a very good player and use to playing in a back 3.  He plays on either side and is of real quality.

I am surprised City are considering getting rid of him to be honest.

For a reasonable fee it would be a great signing for us,  so of course it won't happen. But just another example of how it isn't really that hard to do some decent business.

Yup, It's not what you want in terms of age but Akanji is absolutely better than every CD we have at the club. He would be a good stop gap buying some time to get in some youngsters for the future or just retooling. I hate the short termist view of it and that he'd likely have fuck all resale value, but I don't mind as long as the board actually commits to long term development and progress and commits to buying young players to replace him in a couple of years, and the shower we currently have in that position.

Still, won't happen. If we get a veteran CB it'll be someone fucking atrocious and 3-4 years older through good old Salty.

Akanji  another cast-off that's over 30. Thought we were supposed to be significantly lowering the age of our Squad? That would be the 2nd over 30 to arrive if he did.

Wasn't it Noel Whelan who came on and posted on here after his transfer fell through in about 1999?

Have they been largely crap as a group under our last three managers? Yes. There's your answer.

Amorim was never coming to us. And let's pretend he even wanted to in the first place- Sullivan turned him down in favour of Potter- ergo that still makes all this mess Sullivan's fault, by CHOICE.

I think we are going around in circles! The last 3 managers were chosen primarily because they were out of work and not because they were genuinely great managers. They are all management “fixer-uppers” basically.. You somehow think bad management should produce good quality out of a group of players? Strange.

Amorim risked fucking off his current club by taking a meeting mid season with another club because he didnt want to go there at all… yes, that sounds plausible. He took so much shit for that back in Portugal, but he was never going to come?

And yes it;s Sullivan fault, just like some say its Gods fault it rains and there are floods, but you had a choice to put defences up for the floods, cos you know shit happens, and you didnt, So who’s fault is it now?
Potter knows what he signed up for. He’s had 8 months to figure it out. He has been shit throughout his time here. And the final play is he’s bombing out players to make people feel none of it is his fault. It’s bizarre.

Well, lets see how this miraculously crafted team from 2 transfer windows and 8 months of coaching performs against Chelsea…
Well we agree it's Sullivan's fault at least. Presiding over an utter shit show, like a once grand country house that's just fallen down around him while he does fuck all to stop it. He's let everything get to this point through years of mismanagement.

I'll be happy to see the back of the disciplinary liability. Like Rodriguez, Alvarez just aint cut out for the high octane Premier League. Both have offered us next to fuck all from Midfield.

100% agree.
Alvarez is a much better player than both Irving and Guido and should be the one we keep.
I honestly think that Alvaraz works well in a better team.
A midfield 3 of Paqueta, Alvarez and another top quality midfielder would work for me.
Trouble is Alvarez just hasn't wanted to be here for months. I don't think he ever had any intention of staying past this transfer window, so it's a bit futile to be saying we should be keeping him when he clearly doesn't want it and by all accounts hasn't been the most professional in going about it.

It IS a shame because he is the second best midfielder at the club and he is clearly a good player, but let us be honest he hasn't been one for us for about 18 months, under three different managers. I think he's wanted out ever since we haven't seemed likely to be playing European football and he's not motivated to be here. It's also a shame clubs aren't falling over themselves to take him and a loan to Turkey seems his best solid offer. Would be nice to at least recoup our money on him rather than selling yet another player for a fucking loss.
It's a strange one to change his squad number though and then want out.....unless he saw pre season there is no change, Potter is still shit and he can't be arsed with a relegation battle.  Probs the latter makes sense actually....
Yeah both him and Aguerd who both wanted out. Fuck knows. Although I'm disappointed in a talented player who doesn't have the stomach to fight and give his all for the team he's contracted to. A fresh start is probably best all round TBH. Just as long as we don't cock up any deal for him and get shafted yet again.

Rodriguez has a Saudi offer and theyve turned down bids for Irving.  Getting those deals done would bring in more £ than the Alvarez loan fee and we would be left with the best midfielder of the above mentioned group.

I feel a bit sorry for Alvarez, would anyone look good alongside Soucek, JWP or Rodriguez last few seasons?

It's an impossible task, out of those three they don't run, got no pace. got no bravery on the ball and can't pass for shit.

Would of liked to see him alongside Potts start of the season, or even right of the back 3 and then can fuck Killman off.

Ironically Potter' system of wingbacks would be the one system to suit Alvarez best, he can just sit and act as a anchorman to really allow Diouf and AWB to get up the pitch.  But Potter happy to let him go, and keep midfielders who can't run or pass and have zero impact on games.

Its fucking depressing, Fernandez and Caicedo will murder us friday eve
