Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"dealcanvey - The Osman transfer is not something they would do without TS and others being pretty sure about his promise... obviously one for the future who can hopefully feature from the bench straight away. You have to assume the club are being pragmatic and realise that Paqueta and Kudus will be off sooner rather than later having turned a big profit. Osman is a Kudus type player who will hopefully be in a similar position in a couple of years.... hopefully this is a new dawn of us buying low and selling high (if we have to sell at all)! Obviously some risk involved but from what I have seen of Jack Clarke he isn't the answer, I wouldn't rate him any better than Benrahma (even in his current form). Osman is lightening fast and seems reasonably robust from the clips I've seen so obviously TS sees potential there..."

"dealcanvey 2:46 These are the ones where we just have to trust the talent spotter that the boy has it. The whole idea being we get him relatively cheap before he takes off and his value skyrockets. Very much like a Dortmund with Haaland and Bellingham. Only thing is you'd hope with us they'll want to stick around long term, but even if not we will get a huge sum for them. Let's be real, Kudus is absolutely flying with everyone in football taking note and we might not be able to hold onto him for too long but we will likely double or treble our money on him if we cannot. But what a buy. Feels like with Osman (and similar players) if it goes through we are cutting out the Ajax bit and getting the player younger and cheaper and if he's half as good that's decent business. We will probably 'miss' with a few of them but a couple of hits will be lovely. This is exactly what we all wanted Stiedten for. My worry is that if there aren't several instant successes, Sullivan will lose his bottle. This is potentially rather exciting."

"ESR almost two seasons removed from one good one, injury prone, and seems like a bit of a cսnt. One that can't get in his own team and doesn't want to play for us either. Even in the knowledge he's young and has some talent, hard pass."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Osman link is bit of a surprising one. Fabrizio saying 18m. 1 goal in 16 games. Would have thought could get Jack Clarke for that kind of money.
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Yes, Vexed and ditto Phillipps. They'll both fit in well here with Cornet. When will the Club realise one common denominator? MOYES who else.................."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Smith-Rowe, not good enough for his club, hugely injury prone, vastly overrated yet expensive. Yep that all checks out as a Moyes player. Thank fuck he doesn't want to come."

"Sydney_Iron 11:32 Wed Jan 24 I know a few people who are 'in the know' at Arsenal and one of them said to me at the weekend ""West Ham have got about as much chance of signing Smith-Rowe as you have of winning the league this season."""

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"I thought Arsenal had said no to Smith Rowe going out on loan? and also player not keen, but who knows, rumors running thick and fast. Philips is by no means done either, terms maybe agreed but there is other interest so who's to say Barca, Newcastle or Milan who are keen don't up the ante?"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I still feel Rowe should be a priority We reportedly looked at Eze and at Olise but sat on our hands. When Leicester signed Maddison from Norwich it was obvious he'd make the step up and bunch of us were championing him on here. Clarke is a no for me but with Rowe I think we'll regret this one too
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"This Osman lad plays wide left and as mentioned it’s about handling the step up from the league he’s in. If Steidten is pushing for him I will feel more confident as it means proper analysis has been undertaken looking at his stats etc. That hopefully includes physical strength as well as technical ability and pace because imo it is Kudus’s ability to protect the ball that is so impressive. Scoring goals helps of course in Kudus case but his lad at half the price of Bergwijn and 8 years younger is potentially another great bit of business. Steidtens only questionable acquisition seems to be Stavros with his propensity for a “rickett” but I can see he has most attributes needed for a good Premiership CB. Just needs to work on concentration and decision making which should improve. Anyway back to this Osman fella, if we get him let’s hope he’s another Steidten success"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Moyes does love a character reference though, so I could see him wanting one player over another based on that, all footballing qualities being about equal."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"I think it's more likely TS has identified him as that's his job. I'd rather buy players he's identified than Kudus who's expertise is kicking a football, not scouting :-)"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
I wouldn’t be surprised if Kudus tipped us off about Osman… they are from the same academy in Ghana. I appreciate that the age gap is enough that they wouldn’t have spent much time together but presumably Kudus keeps in touch with the folks back home and they’ve followed the same path. Not sure how long he has been linked to us but if Mo rates him then that’s got to be all the recommendation we need…

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"fraser - Yep, partially anyway, but the point still stands that the chances of a 19 year old in Denmark making it in the PL are pretty slim, Steiden or not. As you say Kudus was a step up, so if we can get more Kudus's I think we will all be happy. Ludo - Actually agree ref Clarke, was just an example really, like how we plucked Bowen from the Championship."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Ibrahim Osman? Is that Russell's boy? Another thing popped up on my social media saying Steidten is looking at a 21yo DM from Antwerp (on loan from OH Leuven) called Mandela KEITA Recently been capped by Belgium
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Manuel - all a risk, tend to agree re. Bergwin if right fee. I’ve watched Sunderland a couple of times this month and I don’t think Clarke is the answer, was okay v Preston but did nothing in the cup game v Newcastle… very lightweight."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Ludo - We've been linked with Osman for a while now mate and does look like there is something in it, but for me the chances of a kid who has been in Denmark then coming to the PL and doing well have to be slim, it's just the way it is now. Worth a punt? Yea maybe, but I wouldn't be getting too excited about it personally. I'd rather we sign Robinson or Clarke from the Championship, or even Bergwin."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Twitter full of rumours (inc well known Journos) that we are on verge of getting 19 yo Ghanaian Ibrahim Osman for 16m from Danish side… very fast winger apparently. Not exactly the finished product but obviously highly rated from the same academy in Ghana as Kudus. Obviously not a Moyes signing so will probably get 2 mins from the bench once a month… Exciting signing though and the sort of player that we should be signing IMO… Brighton also after him but he wants to come to us by all accounts.
