"This Ibrahim Osman reminds me of Antonio when he played as a winger. He's got the pace to kick the ball past the opponent and get to it first, and the strength to brush off defenders trying to stop him. Sadly his end product is even worse than Antonio's and Moyes probably wants him as a striker."

"If the squad improves, the team improves. Hopefully Sullivan has gotten over his insistence that if he pays Premier league prices, whoever he buys will give him 38 straight Premier league games and be nowhere near the bench for any of them."

"""So might well be the conspiracy theorists thinking signing Phillips is because Alvarez is crocked ?"" That was me Sir Alf, happy to be proved WRONG! I just hope if Philips arrives then Big Tomas is shown the bench, may well suit him, could be a decent impact sub such is his prowess for sniffing out goals when needed."

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Phillips would be welcome on loan best possible result for us - he comes good and is better than Rice worst - Dyer type perma crock Loan for a few months is worth the risk
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
If we believe Exemployee it seems Alvarez is back for Bournemouth game. So might well be the conspiracy theorists thinking signing Phillips is because Alvarez is crocked ? https://www.thewesthamway.com/2024/01/24/back-for-bournemouth-exwhuemployee-west-ham-injuries-update/
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
Cracks me up when folks complain about how many bags a footballer takes home per week. With all the shit that is swirling around the League at this moment with FFP. That OUR board would spunk money up the wall if they didn't think it was worth it.? Pre Tim. Yes worried. Now. Not so much.

"Fucking hell £170k odd a week, Moyes has had a hard on for him for over 2 years.. But you think he's coming to sit on the bench.. No you don't, because it's a fishing attempt."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Soucek will and should get replaced. It might not happen immediately but based on results. Of course there could be the unthought of scenario where Soucek is benched alkist immediately and we struggle and lose a game or two and the Czech Bambi returns. But I suspect not. Phillips, Alvarez and JWP with Kudus, Bowen and Paqueta and possibly this Osman getting minutes later in games. Soucek may also play that role when we want to close a game out as Paqueta has been withdrawn at 70 mins or less a few times. Equally Soucek does a Fellani and grts brought on for us to go more direct if we are cyasing a game. Phillips even at 50% is a better footballer technically than the Potatoe Salad boy imho :-)"

Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"That isn't quite what I said, RM10. Have another go at reading it all again properly, div. Gaffer58 - Glad someone has been paying attention. Soucek is a key player in Moyesball World. He ain't shifting out the side regularly for anyone, just as he didn't at the beginning of the season when both Alvarez and Ward-Prowse arrived on the scene. Phillips is a steady eddie lower half of the Premier League Footballer at best. He got found out at City where he mostly kicked his heels for 1 and half seasons on the bench even when they had injuries. Just 31 appearances and I use the term very loosely as most of that was a handful of minutes here and there. Some people have overrated just what he brings to a side and I just don't see him displacing the usual Midfield suspects who usually play in our side when fit. He should get game time when injuries continue to kick in but once everyone is fit, he'll struggle to get in."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Phillips is a great addition and will strengthen the team/squad, simple as that. I don’t know what some people realistically want or expect?"
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"If I had to guess, which is exactly what I’m going to do now, I’d expect Moyes to play Alvarez, Phillips and JWP as the midfield 3. And Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus continue as an interchangeable front 3. The lad Osman we’re heavily linked with has potential. But he’ll be the one to come on with 10-15 when we’re chasing a game. With maybe more opportunity next season if we end up selling Paqueta."

"Phillips is an excellent player. So our central midfield now contains a Mexican international who's top draw, a Brazilian international who's world class, the Czech captain, a some time England international set piece specialist, and now a full starter England international, to add to 2 absolutely top class wingers. Do you think we might be able to keep hold of the football at some point?"

Christ almighty Phillips a championship player. The things you learn on football forums . It's up there with rigsbys . Ali can't fight comment in an episode of rising damp
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"He has to drop Soucek, there isn’t any other way. If we sign a new wide player as well meaning Paqueta can play inside then should mean less game time for Soucek. Hopefully the new deal just means we want a decent fee to flog him, his time is up & he should be moved on."
Re: Official Transfer rumours and gossip thread
"Moyes is not going to suddenly drop Soucek to play Alvarez, JWP AND Phillips, he’s just been given a 3 and half year contract.Moyes sees Soucek as his lunch pin and hopes to build a team around him."
