"What Colly said, I'd settle for anyone with some pace at this point. It's true that Jota only lit up Scotland but Celtic fans wax lyrical about him and they have seen just great players down the years to be fair, I'd take him. Not bothered about Osman, yea I know these are the type of transfers be should be targeting now, but 18 mil for a kid that has only played in Denmark and would be one for the future? I'd rather someone who can help us this season push for 6th and the EL."

"Does the Saudi Pro League transfer window close on 30 Jan? If so, if Jota isn't signed today does it mean he won't be coming? Not that I am that bothered - too lightweight and by chasing the big money out there (aged just 24) must throw some doubts on his footballing ambitions. Maybe badly advised but it is a big question mark for me. Much rather we sign a younger player with ambition and who wants to test themselves, not someone who is looking to be rescued."

Callum Wilson would be this year's Danny Ings. Let's not make that mistake again.

"Probably get slated for it, but Callum Wilson would be a massive upgrade on what we have for 18 million. He's big enough to hold up the ball and play on his own so would also fit the system."

"Rumour also has it 'Silky' warned Sullivan against signing Haller and Scamacca...so he has some history of making right calls with Diddy Dave if nothing else. In fairness the price from Olsen probably is high for a 19 year old who's never played in a meaningful league. As for Jota, sounds like this is the 'value' pick of someone we might get on a try before you buy (with board favourite Silky involved in brokering it too). Reckon he's too lightweight myself but we'll see. In fairness to the protagonists, it sounds like Moyes, Steidten and Noble all agreed on Olsen as the pick, and he definitely has a touch of the early Antonio's about him....raw pace and power, but raw everything else too. I'm sad the noise around Sugawara and Brocko has gone quiet...young, pacey full backs is so clearly something we're crying out for."

Postecoglou hasn’t come in for any of those players that won him trophies up there. He probably knows they wouldn’t be good enough.

"Apparently Jota is on 200K a week in Saudi, and that's now and issue in this deal, again, if we walk away because of it i don't blame the club, the fella isn't playing and his reputation is based on what he did in Scotland!"

As mentioned the big concern with Jota is that his form was in Scotland and thats nowhere near the intensity of the Premiership. Must be a loan to buy deal ? Hence bin him if hes shite ?

"Watching Hammers chat, apparently agents want £7M for us to sign Osman! We were ok to pay the transfer fee of about 18, BUT not this agent fee, personally dont blame the club!"

"RM10 10:25 Mon Jan 29 Exactly. Had Moyes been able to recruit a striker he can actually get a tune out of, we might have achieved much better. Like winning the Europa instead of Frankfurt. We might even be slightly more enjoyable to watch."

Bowen isn’t nowhere near as good up top as he is out wide. He is our best player imo he shouldn’t be shunted out of position cos he hasn’t a clue what to do with a forward. Thing is if you have Bowen Kudus Paqueta behind a front man you don’t need a world beater. Just someone pacy with decent hold up play

Our search is harder than finding a decent striker. We need to find a decent right winger that Moyes can then turn into a striker.

Anything that is close to what Craig Bellamy was as a striker for me. Maybe that is the difficulty for Moyes in fairness.

"‘Perhaps the “right” striker is not available and instead of signing any old front man they’d rather wait for the close season and someone more suitable becoming available.‘ We’ve needed the “right” striker since Moyes took. The idea we’re holding off for the right striker isn’t one of patience, it’s one of utter failure."

"If he buys a striker then Bowen goes back to the right and Kudus in the middle (Though I actually think Kudus is better than Bowen) just leaves two places... Which should be Alvarez and Phillips.. It's never gonna happen.. He may buy a second choice, but Bowen will play there."

"Ha, how many times we heard that. The jock has been spinning that line for about 3 years now. We was told better to wait cos couldn’t get any better than ‘Micky’ and then we ended up with Scamacca. It’s simple, the manager hasn’t a Danny when it comes to centre forwards."
