Patriotism
A flag should be about pride. About unity. About celebrating who we are. That’s not what’s happening right now. These England flags going up everywhere? That’s not patriotism. That’s marking territory. That’s sending a message. And the message is ugly: “This is ours. You don’t belong here.”That isn’t pride. That’s fear. That’s exclusion. That’s racism dressed up as tradition.Real patriotism doesn’t slam the door in someone’s face. Real patriotism says: we are strong enough, proud enough, confident enough to welcome others in. To share our values — values of fairness, decency, tolerance — the values that have always made Britain worth being proud of.When you turn the flag into a weapon, you betray it. You betray our history. You betray the very idea of Britain.Because the truth is this: our flag should say we belong together. Not you stay out.

Re: Patriotism
Has anyone actually felt threatened by a host nation's flag when they were living and/or working outside the UK?

Re: Patriotism
The most laughable part of all this taking down of our Flags is the sheer hypocrisy of Labour when attending Conference every year they proudly sing:
Then raise the scarlet standard high
Beneath its shade we'll live and die
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer
We'll keep the red flag flying here
Quite ironic really. Do as I say, not do as I do eh Labourite Lefties...

What is going on is beyond belief. Not much longer now before it really starts to get ugly. At what point does this Gov’t fall? What will it take, a national strike?
This can’t go on for another 4 years, surely. For once I agree with you; they have been an utter shambles so far.
I think they will cling on to the bitter end though with that massive parliamentary majority.Want them out?
Quickest way is to fuck their cash flow. Move off PAYE and onto annual self-assessment, Get the petrol tanker drivers out on strike again, claim back VAT on anything and everything - overwhelm them with demands on the services they're legally obliged to deliver.
Ha ha you're insane

Almost as sad as local authorities, using tax payers money, to paint zebra crossings, in rainbow colours.

The politicians are more to blame than those seeking free stuff and an easy ride. If the government (and those before it) made it less appealing to be here then less of them would come.
And that is just it
You can see the reason for the influx and the solution the same as most other people with a brain so why cant successive governments ?
And then implement the changes to make it less attractive ?
Putting illegals in repurposed military barracks and detention centres rather than four star hotels in Canary wharf might be a start.
Exactly that. I have known people who work for companies that set up illegal immigrant set ups and do security. One of them said that in one case the immigrants came in and were demanding phones and money. They said what about some food and warmth first. They weren't interested. One bloke said they housing they set provided is "quite extravangant" for illegal immigrants.
Its fucking ridiculous.
My solution would be off shore facilities. If the illegals knew they would be spending most of their time on a boat with basic facilities.
As you say, putting illegal immigrants in posh hotels and in hotels within residential communities is a fucking disgrace. Surely the government knew there would be a backlash.

Re: Patriotism
Jusr got back from Spain and we stayed in a villa in a mostly Spanish residential area where there are also apartments that Spanish use to holiday. Virtually every single community or set up had a Spanish flag up. We spoke to a barman about what is going on in UK and he said the Spanish flag is very commonly flown all across the country for no other reason than its Spain. He couldn't see the issue with it.
Problem is, for years we have had to dilute our patriotism because the left fascists call it racism. Hopefully this is a sway back to normality where our flag is commonly seen.
