I dreamed last night we will lose 0-1. Tempted to put a score on it to be honest. I'm really not looking forward to this. Given we have failed yet again to upgrade a threadbare squad.

I would'nt be surprised to see Moyse saving some players for his 'big game' against his old employers on the weekend and using the excuse that they are not quite ready.

Hammer and Pickle 12:58 Tue Jan 30 I think that might be the case for tonights game anyway given Alvarez has been out - I meant in the long run his intention must be to drop Soucek when everyone is fit to play.

If a professional footballer is on the squad they should be capable of playing at the expected level. They should cut out mistakes and make positive contribution. That said. Mistakes happen. Usually within 10 minutes of the restart.

"A lot of ghis is semantics so its a good point that “sharpness” might be a better term. That extends to the thinking or concentration too not just the body. Alvarez should be fitter / sharper :-) than Phillips but no one knows until they play really. The manager has to make those calls or take the risk of these unknowns. And the word risk and Moyes name is not something you see in the same sentence. Same team that played against Sheffield with Fornals out , Coufal out ( ban ) and Johnson in at RB and one of Alvarez or Phillips in centre mid. Im suspecting he wont play them both. He should imo but he wont until he is forced to."

"To be fair 'match fit' is generally used to mean someone who is fit but hasn't played much and needs game time to be at their best. The problem is that the same phrase gets used when people are talking about actual fitness, and people confuse the two. So, in this case Sir Alf says that Alvarez isn't 'match fit', which brings up the question how can he be less 'match fit' than someone who's barely played. The answer is probably that Phillips might not be 'match fit' but Alvarez is simply not fit to play."

"This term 'match fit' is very irritating and gets used a lot on here, I doubt most even know what it really means. I've seen players out for 6 months before and come back and look quality in the first game."

"That's not really about 'fitness' though. A better word would be sharpness, ie how rusty they are or not, and obviously you're going to play better if you play regularly. All this nonsense about fitness got spouted when Lingard arrived, with people saying he wouldn't be 'match fit' for weeks or even months, when of course within days of joining he was playing 90 mins and scoring 2 goals. And Lingard hadn't even been on the bench for Man Utd, let alone play."

"Match fit is, imo and historically associated I think, with that additional 1, 2 or 3% you get from playing games that is pretty much impossible to create in a training game or via drills and practice etc. A player will never give that little bit extra like they will in an actual game and its that skall percentage that can take 2, 3 or even many more games to get the body at its optimum depending on the individual, how long they were sidelined and the nature of the injury. Furthermore other factors like the position they play come into it too. Phillips, Paqueta, Alvarez may be fully up to speed immediately but its unlikely imo. But lets hope they are pretty close as soon as they start playing."

You can be 'match fit' without playing much as long as you train properly. If you're injured and can't train then you won't be 'match fit' until you've done more training. It's not difficult.

"""Well Alvarez rumours are he‚Äôs not match fit , same with Paqueta."" only on planet prehistoric jock twat can a player get 'match fit' by sitting on the bench, yet a player that has actually sat on the bench for close to two years is deemed to be 'match fit' ?üòÇ?üëç"

"A difficult game given Bournemouth have had an impressive run of form recently. However.,despite a few poor displays in the last few games we've only lost 1 league game in the last ten picking up 21 points, only Liverpool can better that. Given that Newcastle look like they are over their poor run we need to get our absent players back, plus any new additions, to challenge for that 6th spot."

"Same team that started against Sheff Utd and impressed with their startling ineptitude? Well Alvarez rumours are he’s not match fit , same with Paqueta. And now: West Ham manager David Moyes on Kalvin Phillips, who has joined on loan from Manchester City: ""We're talking about a boy with really good character. I heard Pep Guardiola's comments about him and I would agree with those, having had him here for a week now. ""We want to see his footballing ability now. I think he's got a chance now to get himself back on track. We've brought in another England international to our squad and that's a big plus. ""Is he ready to start tomorrow? I don't know. He's not played much but I know he's been training and keeping himself going. But I couldn't give you an exact answer right now."""

"It's mad. We appear to be making the squad even thinner with the net loss of 2-3 out and only 1-2 in. Getting rid of all three of those would be mad. Leaves us with only Paq, Bowen, Kudus, Ings and Antonio for the rest of the season. 1-2 injuries and we have no bench."

"Exactly that, fraser, however twoleftfeet isn't cut out for joined-up thinking Can you imagine our bench tomorrow if Fornals and Benrahama - and possibly even Cornet - go? Even if we signed a replacement or two none would be available"

I think his point is we sat back at home to Brighton because we had four players missing and because of that Moyes was like the cat that got the cream delighted with the point (even though they had more players missing than us) Luton who should still be weaker than us with our missing playees.. Went for it and won.. We didn't even fucking try.. So his point isn't about Luton it's about us and how we approach games.. The fact that we beat Luton just confirms his point...

"Rob Edwards the Luton boss last night said: We knew we had to take the game to them, to stand off them would have played into their hands and their game, so I changed it up and it worked"" Words that would never even enter Moyes' head. When I think how WE played at home to Brighton, when we did the opposite and watched them boss the game. Anyway, more of the same tomorrow, sit back, have 29 percent possession and try and nick a win. At HOME to fucking Bournemouth. Can't wait."

"If Alvarez is also out then it's all very straightforward in the middle. Phillips JWP Soucek Not sure about a front three. if Kudus is back that's tremendously helpful. Kudus, Bowen, Cornet/Ings?"

"According to what gonzo has heard Paq not available, if so that saves Moyes from making a call and we will be packed out with CM's."
