Covered songs better than the original.
Subjective, I know but anyway:
Hurt - Johnny Cash - original - Nine Inch Nails
This Flight Tonight - Nazareth - original - Joni Mitchell
In My Life - Johnny Cash - original - The Beatles
The Price of Love - Bryan Ferry - original - The Everly Brothers
You fuckers?

Wasn't aware of this.
Nice one fella, will give it a listen

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
Must be getting old, as forgot Lake Of Fire, originally by Meat Puppets and covered by Nirvana on the MTV Live album.
Also Lead Belly's Where Did You Sleep Last Night from the same album, although difficult to determine the better version of the two as from totally different eras. I suppose you go with what you're familiar with/was a fan of at the time.

I don’t know if it’s better than the original, but Hounds of Love by the Futureheads is just as good. I saw them playing it live at Victoria Park a few weeks ago - it was marvellous.

Re: Covered songs better than the original.
The original is a fucking great track, but have to agree with Cough re. Hurt.
Apologies if already mentioned, but Nothing Compares to U by Sinead blows Prince and his bands version out of the water.
Blood Bank by Bon Iver. Great original track (especially the live version) but much prefer the cover by Architects.
Band Of Gold by The Afghan Whigs is...different. But no worse for it imo.
Black Steel is also a very good shout by Tak M.
Decent thread this.

Terry Hall was a top man for the covers. I prefer this version to Armstrongs, but i was a big fan of his voice, he pitches it perfect between tender and sarcastic.

How the hell is that better than Louis Armstrong? You do understand the title right?
