Re: No to Digital ID
You've got to be a right DIVVY to think this will in any way stop illegal immigration into this country.
Thanks for stepping up to the plate, joyo.

Re: No to Digital ID
The Digital ID will be required to prove your right to work
You won’t be required to produce it in the street or use to verify your identity in any other website etc.
You can continue to provide your utility bills or passport for those purposes
Presume every employer will be asked to confirm they have sighted the ID
Social media already has all that information & that Zuckerberg bloke with the Harpo Marx hairstyle has already handed that to Trump so he can get you sacked if you were mean about that Christian nut Charles Kirk

Re: No to Digital ID
This 100% will NOT stop or deter illegal immigration because the ability to work in the UK is not the reason people are flocking uncontrolled into the UK.
If an illegal wants to work cash-in hand, and somebody wants to pay him cash-in-hand, that will continue at exactly the same rate as pre-ID card levels; plenty of replacements available from the constantly arriving stream when one gets caught.
The main (and probably only) reason those people come here is on account that they know (KNOW) they will get taken care of during their time here, permanent or otherwise. A.K.A UK, tax-payer funded benefits.
What will 100% stop illegals (so photogenically) coming over in flotillas of small boats?
That has the simplest possible solution: rejoin the EU, or at least the customs union.
Once that is done the illegals will simply revert back to travelling in/on/under unchecked trailers, trucks and trains.
Of course, it won't actually stop or reduce the numbers flooding in - we the taxpayers - just won't be able to see the evidence, and the state will never, ever, get a handle on how many people are in the country and therefor know how to plan, design, and deliver the infrastructure needed to help support those people here and underpin the British way of life..

Re: No to Digital ID
Legal immigrants should not be eligible for social security for 5 years after they post a £20,000 bond when arriving

Re: No to Digital ID
It simply takes passing legislation that says anyone who is in France is in a safe country and if they enter the UK without permission they aren’t refugees or migrants
They should be intercepted & returned
Anyone returned should be banned from entering the UK by any means permanently
The Tories had 14 years to do this

it’s bizarre anyone would think they want to clamp down on it when they won’t even go after the companies in the Uk that employ illegals.
Fucking outrageous.
Sick cսnt, spouting utter common sense!

The Dublin accord didn't work, hence why people voted brexit out of frustration.

They've had years to stop the illegals, if they really wanted to end illegal immigration they would have done so by now.

Re: No to Digital ID
Mike, the digital infrastructure was all put in place during covid. It was rejigged and renamed as Gov.Uk One Login last march by the DGS (digital govt services) which was formed by Camerons govt along with the Behavioural Insights Team. None of this is being directed by a government minister but is under the control of the Cabinet Office

They could rejoin the Dublin Accord arrangements for starters.
Access to the fingerprint database that comes with that would have been bloody useful as you can trace immigrants journey including rejected asylum claims elsewhere and reject and deport them forthwith. The data is literally at someone's finger tip.
Lack of access to this data is one of the major pull factors for people ending up here.

I’m in favour
Believe if you buy more than 3 steaks for a bbq they will shut down your bank account & pull your ears off with pliers
If it stops smoke drifting into my flat I’m right behind it

It’s a simple case of resist. This shady little twat will
not be in government for long, and an early election will happen.
