Classic West Ham timing. A day late and a dollar short. Probably got the Nuno ok to take the job. Flip flop back to low possession, low block football without the pace and athleticism he had with the Forest squad.

Potter's contract alone will cost a fortune to terminate but sacking all Potter's useless Staff so soon as well is going to be an extortionate cost on top of it as well. 6 1st Team Staff just from this lot and assuming Macaulay won't be too far behind them...

The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect. 

Doesn't this effect our PSR in the future earing in to that?

The Club will be making no further comment at this time.

The mass exodus of coaches makes it look like somebody has agreed to take the job.

Usually, some of the coaches hang around to cover for a bit. This is a mass sacking.

I don't think the manager whoever they are can do a lot with the constantly meddling, tight fisted, short sighted ownership. It's always been about short term gain but NEVER the long term vision regarding anything. 

As Sir Alf says...Penny wise, Pound Foolish - we don't really need his long essays on here - pretty much everything that pisses us all off is summed up nicely in that shorthand soundbite.

The danger for any WHU manager is that any time he replaces a more valuable more highly paid player with a younger 'cheaper' player, Sullivan's immediate reaction will be thoughts of selling on the valuable player for money into the pot. He has always had this 'smaller squad lower overheads' mentality, in a business where you have to 'gamble' with every player that comes through the door. He has trust issues, sticking to the same old agents, and after what has gone on, I do have a degree of sympathy with that, but it leads him to constantly 'interfere' with successive managers which undermines their authority over the players.
We seem to lack discipline and fortitude - it's not all on the manager..  we miss vibrant assistants, people like Pearce and Irvine who push players past their comfort zones. Sadly, it's hard to point to one single thing that the club does well, and I suspect we are close to seeing yet one more example of that...

We still look like a team that the manager has just taken over. He tinkers tactically in games and abandons ideas quickly.  He should have committed to his preferred system in pre season and should have ensured he got the personnel he needed in the window. We dont know how much Sullivan inhibited that. 

Its too late now. The players wont believe in him anyway after 30 games. They dont understand their roles, the  system keeps changing. They dont press together
and at the wrong time and either not committed to what they are being told or just simply confused. 

Iraola and Glasner had terrible starts both not winning for 8 and 10 games. But Glasner made the point he stuck with the system and roles and reassured them it was improving and it would click. Iraola said the same.

A big issue this season was not doing our business early and falling short with it to play the Potter tactics.  And Potter makes it worse by playing players like Soucek, JWP and Guido who dont suit his system. Potts plays all pre season and then he disappears from the starting 11. He plays 5 at the back which is not his preferred system for so long.  Soon as Magassa and Fernandes arrived he should have got them in and youngsters like Potts, Earthy, Fearon and Kante for some minutes as they are better suited or at least cannot do any worse.  

A new manager wont make much difference. But our hope is that whoever comes in cannot surely be any worse and it will be enough to keep us up.  Our bar is that low.

It's why I'm always flabbergasted when observers/pundits cite that this is 'Sullivan's' money!  It's not...the ownership (who can put in money via share issue if they choose to) don't put in any money at all.

Well, sure, but the inverse of that is people on here constantly make out that Sullivan is trousering the club's money, which is obviously nonsense as well. Let's face it, apart from a few sugar daddies, most owners don't continually put up their own money after the initial buy-in. They either work within the club's budget or mount up debts.

Thing is, in the last year or so he's spent about £130m on our back 4 and Goalkeeper, and our defence is worse than ever. Our net spend is generally higher than nearly all the teams outside the top 6. The amount spent is not the issue, it's how it's been spent.

A more accurate analogy is that Sullivan treats the club like a shit car that he spends lots of money on patching up but he just doesn't know how to do it so that it actually runs. He'll add some expensive shiny accessories to it while neglecting to spend anything on the engine (ie the manager) or even understand what kind of engine fits the car he's got.   

The other point is this net spend deficit has been financed by bank loans and not out of the owner's pockets.

The money being spent is the Club's money.  Anytime Sullivan puts in money, it's via loan (so he's not giving the club money, it's a vehicle to take money out of the club ultimately given the interest).

We he is highest shareholder, and as such, anything that takes value out of the Club affects his investment...but the money the Club spends is the Club's money...not his money.

I'm not totally convinced the spend has been financed (per se) via bank loans.  The Club has the issue that income arrives over a period, but there are key spending periods (August and January).  These loans are typically designed to ease cashflow, and are short term arrangements that get paidback before the end of the current financial year.

Loans that are multi-year, or carried through accounting periods would be of greater concern, especially if being merely serviced rather than repaid.
