Super Frankie Lampard

I have never understood our fans' loathing of Frank Lampard.  I watched him as a youngster playing for us.  He always gave 100% and performed well while our fans taunted him singing that he was only in the team because of his dad.  Then when the club unceremoniously sacked his dad the fans taunted him because he wanted to leave.  Who could blame him.  He went on to realise his full potential for club and country and now he is performing admirably as a coach for Coventry City who are looking good for promotion.  When he turns up with them at London Stadium, I for one will not be jeering him.  Well played son!

I never had any problem with Frank when he was playing, thought he was a good player and turned out to be a terrific one, but he said some silly things after leaving because obviously he didn't like some of the abuse he got, and that only got him more abuse. Felt a bit for his dad as he was obviously a legend of the club although never seems to be elevated to the same height as Billy or Trevor.  Both Ince and Defoe apologised and Jermaine went right up in my estimation with the sad situation with that poor young lad and to be fair he comes across as a decent fella these days. They were all very young though, things get said, silly things get done and a lot of it depends on who is advising you at the time. Can't really blame Frank for buggering off when the club kicks his dad out can you, but he certainly could have handled it better afterwards. Didn't Eyal have a pop about the club after he left? Called it a pub team if I remember rightly. Mind you with Big John. Moncs and Razor about he may have been right!

He has been far from complimentary about us since but despite  this and the forklift truck song he still gets nothing like the dogs abuse Ince got.

Although being snapped in the nationals wearing a Man United shirt when your still a West ham player was somewhat incendiary.

To be fair to Ince it was a pretty well known fact that his agent at the time Ambrose Mendy had leaked the photo to the press before the signing was officially announced. It was claimed afterwards that the press jumped the gun and printed it before being given the O.K but like most agents Mendy was a shifty cսnt and would've probably worked to the principle that all publicity is good publicity.

Incey got it far worse than Lampard ever did...by quite some margin!

I think the spitter Diouf as well as Thatcher was another deal kyboshed because of fan pressure. Thing's like that is what sets us apart from fickle cunty Club fanbases.

The real concern for me is, if he does happen to become a decent manager, we’ve become so far removed from what we were in the 90’s and 00’s and so watered down on match days that the new brigade and the next generation would see no issue him being given our job. Gone are the days of stopping the Ben Thatcher signing with enough vitriol at a pre season friendly when he was on trial!

Certain people should never be considered, irrespective of their managerial credentials. Lampard is top of the list. 

Enough evidence to suggest he won’t make it as a top level manager, however.

It was a long time ago so I can't remember exactly what he said, but in an interview in which he detailed why Chelsea was a big improvement on West Ham, he praised his uncle and father for their expertise and in the next paragraph explained how unprofessional the setup was, citing bacon sandwiches in the canteen at West Ham as an example.

In a separate interview he said he still looked out for West Ham results in the hope that we had lost.

And yes, whilst with us, he did carry a bit of weight not conducive to elite athletic performance.

So apart from all that you can’t remember what he said. Right ho.

Exactly, Ron. As a rule, we don’t boo ex-players. I know a lot of other teams’ fans who do, but they don’t seem to get stick from the media for it. Generally, it’s once a Hammer, always a Hammer, unless you behave like a cսnt and forget where you came from.

I always find it so lazy when we as a fanbase are accused of being unforgiving and holding a grudge because players leave for better things. 

Look at it another way, those that leave the club the right way get applauded. Those that act a cսnt, get treated like a cսnt. 

Example leavers: Carrick, gave us a season in the Championship, applauded even though he went to Spurs. Tevez, always spoke positively of the club. Even Ferdinand, albeit, he makes my skin crawl these days, and Joe Cole one indiscretion at UP aside which he immediately realised and apologised for. 

Wankers: Ince, no need to explain, Lampard, slagged the club and its fans at every opportunity. Defoe, transfer request a day after relegation.

It’s not rocket science. I like that we hold grudges in these examples. All decent fans do, it’s adds a bit of character to atmospheres. 

On a side note about Joe Cole, I bumped into him and his family on Battersea bridge once post retirement, and his kids were fully decked out in West Ham kit rather than Chelsea. Sure they probably have both, but at least he remembers where he came from.

Long after he left West Ham I saw an interview with him. He was asked which club had the best/most vocal fans during a match. He said West Ham and that surprised me. Maybe the whole thing was blown a bit out of proportion when he first left, but I do recall him giving us a bit of needle in the immediate aftermath. Perhaps he reflected on it after the initial events.
