"Paquetta makes things tick, not just his play but the others around him lift their game too, so obvious to see last night. It's no real surprise, he's the Brazil no10 for a reason. Can we play without him? Obviously not! He alone will keep Moyes in his job."

"Enjoyed the game last night and it's a while since I said that. Some good football especially first half where we had a lot of chances. Soucek in particular will wonder how he didnt score. Fantastic hattrick for Bowen. Exactly what we needed. Kudus and Paqueta are the driving force. Thought Coufal played well and an absolute worldly from Emerson who is capable technically of those kind of strikes. We did run out of steam and our lack of depth showed. Antonio had a stinker when he came on. Was he purposely playing bad so he doesnt play there? I dont know but we looked much weaker when he came on. Good game, good points, onto goodison."

"North bank. That all relative though, isn’t it? We have always been a big club, if not one of the giants and I certainly remember us setting transfer records, for players that we brought in. We don’t do that now. I’m not a pro Moyes nutter, but many of the Moyes out crowd, are living on another planet. Remember that, probably the favourite manager, from a fan’s point of view, (Lyall) got us relegated twice. How many would accept that today?"

"I will take the game for what it was, a good performance against a team we have struggled against in the past. Let's see how we get on against Everton, another team we seem to struggle against. They will be as dour as fuck, with Tarkowski trying to kick lumps out of Jarrod!"
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brentford - Official Match Thread - Preview
"“Obviously Moyes had final say on all the signings but what we do know is that most of his signings from pre-Steidten turned to shit or didn't get played. And that he didn't sign a striker for 2 seasons...” Turned to shit like Paqueta or Bowen or Emerson or Areola or Soucek or Coufal or Zouma? Those first four are probably our best 4 players this season, all signed before Tim started. “Moyes might still stay as our Head Coach but thank goodness he will have his final say removed in his new contract. Or is that crap from You Tubers too?” At the moment that’s exactly what it is."
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brentford - Official Match Thread - Preview
"I decided to go to the game despite having no appetite for it and hoping for a result that would (perhaps) hasten Moyes' departure. I ended up enjoying it, and if we could play more like that on a regular basis I could look forward to games again. But will we? Probably not. We'll see. I don't mind conceding goals if we're also scoring. 4-2 better than 1-0. Still Moyes out though, for all the reasons already mentioned."

norwaytips true but how many of our previous managers had the luxury of buiding a side with near enough £450 million? After that expenditure being sat 8th is the least we should expect

"Willtell. Hardly influenced by one win. Look at the win record of all of our (long term) managers. How many have a better rate than Moyes? Then look at three consecutive years in Europe, with a semi final, a trophy and still in last 16 this year. Also, only goal difference separates us from the European places for next year. How many of our managers have done better than that?"
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brentford - Official Match Thread - Preview
goose I didn't realise you are a Moyes in poster? Or just influenced by one win? Obviously Moyes had final say on all the signings but what we do know is that most of his signings from pre-Steidten turned to shit or didn't get played. And that he didn't sign a striker for 2 seasons... Moyes might still stay as our Head Coach but thank goodness he will have his final say removed in his new contract. "We're a 1 man team, and Brentford in that first 10 minutes just had a shocker, they were no doubt surprised as they would have been expecting that passive, shitcunt team that we are for the most part in every game. Paquetta pulling the strings early on was the difference. Can't say I've seen him loads, but whenever I have seen Toney, I've always wondered what the fuss is about, and he was fucking pony last night. I reckon their best player is Mbeumo, who tore us a new one at their place, given how they streamed down the left yesterday it could've been different had he played. Last night changes fuck all for me, there were still long periods in that game against a diabolical team where they were camped in our half, and it's just not sustainable as a long term stragegy, as we've seen. After going 2-0 up, we should have absolutely swamped and battered them, tried to play well for 90 minutes for once. Still, the man kept his job after losing 0-6 (SIX NIL) at home to London rivals, with less than a fucking whimper, and we have some fans who are happy to just wipe the dribble off their chins and accept that sort of cowardly defeat with a shrug of their shoulders. Sickening."

"Oh here we go with the Tim signed this player and Moyes signed that player. How do you know Moyes didn’t want Stavros? You don’t. Nobody does. It’s just rubbish peddled by YouTubers. Same as nobody knows if Tim was onboard with the Phillips deal. Our best players were all signed whilst Moyes was here, you can’t pick & choose which ones you wanna look at."

Obviously Paqueta was rightly taken off after 75mins at 4-1 after his period out But why Antonio to play wide left and stink the place out? At 4-1 he could have given O Scarles 15mins on the left and replaced the quiet JWP with George Earthy If not then to give these players minutes then when? Not sure how much they are learning getting splinters in their arse as they NEVER come on
Re: ‚ö? West Ham v Brentford - Official Match Thread - Preview
"It's great to win but lets not get carried away. Brentford have lost 10 of their last 12 games I believe? I'm very concerned about our defence still. Mavropanos was brilliant in Aguerd's place. By comparison to the regular pairing of Zouma and Aguerd Moyes has to consider bringing back Ogbonna and dropping Zouma against Everton. Why was Ogbonna dropped after playing brilliantly against Arsenal? Surely Ogbonna and Mavropanos would seem to be the better options? It highlights the weaknesses Moyes pathetic team building efforts leave us in. Moyes would never have signed Mavropanos and was happy to let Kehrer go on loan. I'm not completely sold on the DOF role but so far Steidten hasn't made a single error in his signings. Moyes on the other hand bought Kehrer, Cornet, Ings, Aguerd, Zouma, Benrahma, Vlassic, Kral, Scamacca all of which were sold at a loss. Moyes wouldn't play Downes who is now Southampton's top player apparently nor Ben Johnson. And he brought Kalvin Philips on loan who has cost huge sums and helped us lose 3 games, to replace Kehrer, Fornals, Benrahma and Coventry. Such excellent planning!! Let's hope Moyes learnt something last night but I don't suppose for one minute he has..."

Absolutely no reason why we can’t play this way in a majority of games home or away. Especially with that attacking front 3. I can suffer a negative Moyes line up against the big clubs away but any other fixture we should be playing how we did last night. Thought Mavrapanos was really good. Still think our best pairing going forward would be him and Ogbonna!

A good result that played some excellent stuff just goes to show if you attack anything can happen. Still think the way we use the bench is not acceptable we were blowing out of our arses the last ten and that's when Moyes should use the five permitted substitutes. As Manuel said let's see how we perform on Saturday against a dogged Everton. Still want Moyes to step aside at the end of this campaign

"Bowen is such an under-rated player within the rest of the Premier League. He'll never be outright world-class but, in a way, that's better for us (more chance of keeping him!). But he's so good as both a winger and, increasingly, as a centre forward. Couldn't care less if he doesn't get picked for England. He's ours and he'll become our record scorer in the Premier League. Long way to go to match the likes of Cottee, Hurst and Watson, of course...no pressure, Jarrod..."

"Fuck me, we actually had a go for once right from the start throughout, funny what can be achieved if you allow these group of players to express themselves and attack at will.... I got my wish seeing a thoroughly entertaining game, not scared to concede by believing we could score at least 1 more than them. If only Moyes had this approach a lot more often, he wouldn't get anywhere near the flak he does. Full marks all round and safety just about sorted, so the midget Russian dictator will be ecstatic to say the least. Was right behind that rocket of a shot too, outstanding strike."

"Yes. It was all down to paqueta. When he plays, teams worry about him, so other players get more time and space to do what they need to do. He'll never be a stats man, but he's rapidly approaching Payet levels of influence on our results. In an age of paralysis by over analysis, its really very simple. In 2024, we played 8 games without him, won 0, scored 4, 0 from open play. He comes back, and we score 4 from open play and win convincingly. Although it must be said, Brentford were absolutely shit. And Toney was laughably bad."

"Great result, very pleased. Can we say this is due to Paqueta coming back? Difficult to say. Paqueta played well and loved to see his little bits of skill and flicks again. But no goal, no assist. Bowen was on fire, Kudus keeps improving getting beck to what he was before Africa. Coufal and Emerson were much better, especially going forward. Alvarez and JWP covering to allow them and Soucek to go forward. Was all that improvement down to Paqueta? What about Moyes. We need to give him some credit? I guess he's not of the hook. Really hope we have a great end of season. Europa final and a Europe place in the league and Moyes gracefully exits."
