Re: Nuno Out
My main criticism of Moyes was that he didn't seem to improve players, and if anything some players regressed certainly confidence wise. Fornals and Benrahma two examples, clearly two who needed an arm around the shoulder rather than a kick up the arse. As I said somewhere else Areola, Magassa and Todibo are improving and AWB has his mojo back so maybe Nuno can improve them if nothing else with a better atmosphere.

Re: Nuno Out
Nuno gets things wrong as did Moyes, Potter, Loppy, Pelegrini, Bilic, Zola, Pardew etc but he also gets some things right although it seems to take him a few games to work out which has arguably been his biggsst flaw. But unlike the previous 4 managers at least makes the right calls eventually. The binning of Hernandes immefiately to make Areola his number 1 was the exception. As an ex keeper I think he knew straight away Areola was what was needed and he could improve him which he has.
Midfield took 2 - 3 games too long to work out we needed more pace, strength etc and while JWP was jettisoned on day 1, Potts, Fernandes and now Magassa have now essentially replaced the likes of JWP, Soucek, Irvine finally. And he seems possibly to have recognised that Kante and Earthy are ready for minutes?
He’s finally worked out that Kilman was a problem too albeit 3 or 4 games too late.
He needs now to realise Paqueta needs to be subbed more when not playing for the team and giving it away too much as seemd to be untouchable ?
Up front he is excused. He has no options but 33 yar ild Wilson. Thats not his issue and lets hope its resolved in Jan.
finally its his subs and timing of subs that needs to get inprove although in his defence the dreadful state of our squad severely limits him in some areas.
All in all, he aint perfect and I dont particularly like his tactics but he has shown he will change things albeit too slowly. And that frustration is obviously exacerbated by the fact we have been in the bottom 3 all season.
I suppose to those wanting Nuno out the question is who do we get in? Should we have gone for Dyche or perhaps Gary O’Wall or as some were saying Ange Postagoglu? In hindsight perhaps Dyche was a better bet some will say but Im of the opinion that Nuno was not such a bad appointment as he does seems less stubborn than the previous 4 candidates and does seem to learn eventually. ?

Bringing Wilson off after we equalised and were looking the more likely to go on to win just about sums up this bottlejob cսnt.

Re: Nuno Out
Like Moyes before him, there’s lots to question about Nuno- he’s stubborn, inflexible, defensively minded and makes odd decisions, then repeats then. But like Moyes, he does seem to know how to make some players better- Todibo for example- they seem to like him and I like his passion. Great to see a manager who properly celebrates a goal.

Re: Nuno Out
I actually think that Nuno would have been better suited to coming in when Moyes left. Not when we are struggling.
But the damage that has been caused by Loppy and Potter since then is making it an incredibly difficult job for anyone who comes in.
I don't think there is a single starting line-up with the players available that would give me confidence that we can win a game, any game.
That's what he has got to deal with.

BoleynGone wrote: ↑02 Dec 2025, 05:47 Two left, yes you're wrong as per, about the youth. Potts is not a youth player anymore he's 22, Scarles was used by him in the wrong position twice, probably the biggest error of the PL season so blatant was it with the other tactics in those 2 games. He not going to watch the U21's and not using Earthy especially is ludicrous.
Can we agree that bench game after game is damaging to your soul, it is mine. 7 defensive players with 1 under used attacker who has been left to stagnate then thrown in after zero minutes. Nuno has had plenty of chances to use Guilherme for minutes in every game but hasn't.
Sir Alf,
i don't buy this wind asssited logic,it's often harder to control the ball if you have the wind. You then adapt and bring on players who can pass the ball on the deck but Nuno had none.Wilson didn't have one pass in the game as we weren't playing that way.
Why this boring wanker can't see that it's better to attack sometimes than constantly defend. That's why he needs to go and watch the u21's play. They can pass and move why not the 1st team ? The training ground videos show pass and move, what's the fucking point in them doing this if they then don't use the ball. Countless times I've seen us hoof the ball, not even in a controlled way but a pub football team way. be honest with yourself and tell me anything different.
We lost one of sons, I'm still gutted and we have Paqueta and Nuno performing like utter cunts.I'm almost giving up but it's in my blood
You are such a bore.

Why are we not surprised…
Just look at his past record…his comments actions and selections since he arrived…
He sounds like a Portuguese Potter…
I hope I’m wrong…

Re: Nuno Out
Sorry, it just wasn't the time to dick about with moronic tactics/selections with the perilous position we were in clearly much harder run of fixtures coming up afterwards. It was an opportunity to get some much needed points on the board and take some pressure off the players. It showed a real arrogance to think he could be that reckless as a new manager.
Get the job done first with ideas you can truly believe in, not fucking Paqueta up top with both Irving and Soucek in the middle replaced by that donkey Rodriguez as the likes of Wilson/Potts/Magassa kick their heels on the bench. We then got what we deserved, fuck all in both games.

Re: Nuno Out
I don’t see Nuno as a symptom, he’s making the decisions on our substitutes who he thinks can influence the game, and rather than try to use the bench to try to settle in some of our hope for the future he’s last attempt of substitution options were
Fullkrug - don’t want to be here, done fuck all to prove he’s worthy of being here
Guilherme - an unknown even in the U23s, no game time
Soucek - thanks Tomas, good effort but a plodding box crasher with stamina.
Kilman - nothing
Guido - nothing
Irving - a tryer but not good enough
Hermansen- another want away not good enough, why bring Fab back if he’s not to be considered?
KWP - alright, nothing more.
Igor - meh
Thats cowardly choices, siding with proven crap over some of our hopes for the future, Nuno’s school report would be a D or E at the moment, time for him to realise that growing bollocks don’t hurt.

Re: Nuno Out
Leeds I agree totally on as he repeated the same mistake. Brentford was an experiment he thought would work but didnt. Most managers do that from time to time and it was early in his tenure too and after a two week international break. He misjudged what works in training versus what works in practice. It was that Leeds game where he lost us the points as he did not see the obvious mistakes in selections against Brentford and repeated them. Bournemouth? Hmmm not so clear to me. In hindsight taking off Wilson too early was wrong and removing Fernandes for Soucek didnt help but agsin not on the scale of the Leeds game which was totally diwn to him
As mentioned elsewhere, the root cause is the squad and owners running of the club that has seen us end up with a squad and first 11 ( a pair of 30 somethjng strikers ) not fit for purpose.
When you have so few options the risk of mistakes in selections and tactical calls failing increases exponentially. Nunos team for the Liverpool game, aside from the absence of Summerville and perhaps Kilman and KWP, is all he really has that are good enough options currently. 13 players!! And even then not strong enough to beat a lot of teams.
He should try Earthy, Fearon and Kante and give them some minutes. Earthy has experience so a no brainer but that is how desperate we are now. Relying on U21s saving us

Re: Nuno Out
He threw the Brentford and Leeds games with his lineups, he lost us 2 points going all defensive at Bournemouth when we found ours 2-0 up, he surrendered the Arsenal and Liverpool games by not even having a go.
The geezer has been an utter disaster so far. It looks better than what it is because Potter was so insipid.

Re: Nuno Out
Nuno is a symptom not a cause of our predicament. Whoever we brought in would struggle to get results imo. Yes he has made mistakes ( Leeds away for me the only obvious one) but all managers do. But wth our squad you cannot make any misjudgement its so weak in terms of depth and quality. A slow, old collective that was improved a little this last summer but still lacking the pace and physicality in key areas. One if not the poorest set of striking options in the league, lack of leadership, suspect CBs etc.
We are a club with no plan or direction that is experiencing the consequences of being run by a hapless owner and part time CEO

Re: Nuno Out
More I look at the table, form and performances, the next 3 fixtures are critical for him. Cannot afford to pick up next to fuck all and not bust a bollock from what we've seen so far. It's time to now show us what you are made of Nuno and get us at it, proper at it and not this fannying around the edges shit hoping for the best.
If 2 newly promoted Clubs can manage it against so called bigger Clubs, then so can we.

Re: Nuno Out
let's be fair Antonio played at right back and scored a few goals at right back.
I watched the highlights of West Ham v Liverpool from Jan 2016.
So much more intensity, desire, attacking and entertainment. The line up was good but had a few players out of position. Tomkins at right back,Antonio left wing and Valencia right wing. Antonio looked like a skinny boy.
Oh for those days.
btw Paqueta wouldn't lace up Payet's or Lanzini's boots,ever
