But above all else, this is a coach dealing with the previous two’s failures. You yourself claim Kilman to be the worst signing of all time, and Potter didn’t see fit to upgrade him. Nuno hasn’t had the chance, but he did at least drop him as soon as he reasonably could. That’s just one example. This is a moot point as I'm not criticising Nuno for the state of the squad. Nor am I really arguing the toss over Nuno v Potter. Nuno's job is to be better than 3 other PL clubs.
Pointing to our league position isn't spinning stats. Any perceived resilience in the last few games in comparison to Potter, to me, seems like clutching at straws as it hasn't lifted us up the table.
It’s not moot as it’s a contributing factor. You were the one who brought Potter into it.
Nuno is not without criticism. I was very vocal about the fuck ups vs Brentford and Leeds. But since then we have only lost to Liverpool (yes I know, out of sorts Liverpool), and unbeaten in some pretty tricky away games in Bournemouth, Man Utd and Brighton (which but for a refereeing nonsense would have been three points).
We’ll go round in circles and never agree. I’m giving him a chance, you’re not. We can’t all agree or we’d have nothing to debate!

Re: Nuno Out
Potter had half a season last season, a whole summer with a transfer window, and the start of this season, and he made us progressively worse. Corners against us were like penalties, not a single player evidently improved under him, and he was too stubborn to admit he was wrong about certain players. We were clearly going down with a whimper under him.
There have been clear improvements under the new manager, who has been picking up the pieces of the last 3 seasons of diabolical league form. To argue against that is weird. I'm not a big fan of the defensive subs, but let's see after the transfer window when he'll at least have some viable options added to the squad.

Noticeable uplift in performance
Nuno in
best we could hope to attract under present circumstances
we lucked out that marinakis binned him off at the right time
points will come
leeds and us in a shootout basically
can’t take anything for granted but feeling better than if we’d lost these games and we’re 8 points worse off

Potter had 3 points. Which means he lost 4 from 5. 5 from 6 when you consider he also lost in the cup to the team who have 2 points all season.
You think he’d have beaten Newcastle at home having not won at home since February?
You don’t see any improvement on that? In which case I have no words. You’re just a straight up wally.Yes, Sorry. 3 points from 5.
My point still stands, had Potter earned the same results there wouldn't be anyone talking him up as turning it around. We are still sitting 18th, having thrown away points in the dying minutes from a winning position, much like under Potter. Nuno's got a 20% win ratio and you're calling me a wally for not pretending that's a marked improvement?
You can spin stats how you want I suppose. For example, Nuno has lost the same amount of games as Potter this season in double the amount of games. That, I would argue, is a marked improvement. Less if you include losing to Wolves (zero wins in the league this season).
Under Potter, I’m not convinced we would have won a home game yet. Nothing between February and September suggested we would.

Re: Nuno Out
Bournemouth, Brighton, Man U - 20 home games (excluding us), 12 home wins...... all three of them win most of the time at their gaff....so three draws, three unbeaten is beating the average.
Not greatly bothered by Villa next week - they keep winning by the odd goal; that has to come to end, no team can keep doing that.

Re: Nuno Out
And yet Nuno hamstrings himself and the Team by limiting Wilsons playing time. I'm not suggesting he plays every minute but it's been questionable how he's managed him up front for us. I personally believe Wilson would have scored more than 3 goals had he played more over the course of the 10 matches in charge. Wilson when he plays looks really good for the most part. Night and day to anything we've got including the German superstar Fullkunt.
Re: Nuno Out
Good summary RonF.
We are seeing improvement. The weakness of the squad in several areas ( one in particular ) and its impact ( inability to score enough goals from chances created ) is our biggest problem by some margin.
We can only hope we have enough to stay in touch points wise before sonehow rectifying the squads “holes” in Jan

Surely he know's these players have a shorter recovery period than at any age. Fuck me they aren'tplaying 2 games a week every week. We scored late in one game and conceded late in the next.
2 points from 2 away games is average, normally good but we now play 2 of the top 3 guess what's going to happen ?
Nuno's negative tactics will see us struggle all season no matter who he signs.
It ain't going to be Neymar.
And yet that mad line up today had us a blatant handball away from a win at Brighton, which while slightly embarrassing to celebrate, they are a team we have beaten once in the Premier League. On another day we were two+ up and cruising. Summerville missed a sitter, Wilson made a poor decision when 3 v 3, their keeper pulled off a superb double save from Bowen and Summerville again, and the resulting corner somehow stayed out. All while they had recorded zero shots on target. We then still should have won it with Mavropanos’ header at the end. There was nothing wrong with the tactics today, save for maybe being under it for the last five. Which can happen in the Premier League.
For people to say we parked the bus when you reflect on the above is idiotic.

Come off it. Whilst I’ve been critical of some of nunos tactics, we are so much more competitive under him compared to potter. Players have got better, he got rid of the JWP and soucek combo and we are improving. We were going backwards under potter.

Re: Nuno Out
There's definitely an improvement to Potter but it's not considerable enough to move the needle on our safety fears. There's also been shit Nuno's done, as well as some good work as previously mentioned.
He'll get the transfer window and the month of February will likely be the time to judge him and take stock with 10 matches remaining from that point. That is unless the wheels comes flying off over the Christmas fixture list then the fuck it button may have to be pressed if it's horrific. Got to try and rack up some points up to the Forest Home game and to continue fighting as we are.

Re: Nuno Out
I'm much happier with Nuno. We're in the games now, rather than chasing tails. He's improved players, he's getting results when we were expecting to lose, and I really like his promotion of youth, like West Ham used to be.
Yes, I'd rather he didn't get so defensive when we're up but I'm sure that will change when we're not desperate for points.

Re: Nuno Out
One defeat in our last 6 games, if we had turned those draws into wins it would be considered a very good run. Will be interesting to see who he can get in January, as mannagers live or die by their signings as we have seen before. What worries me is losing Diouf and Wan Bissaka to the ACN.

Re: Nuno Out
What I do like to see is he's got the effort and fight back in the Team which just wasn't there under Potter this season. Also sorting out our set pieces defensively. As well as getting Areola bang at it in fine form, he's saved us a lot these past 10 matches preventing us from dropping more points. That he takes a lot of credit for.
Re: Nuno Out
I think we are getting better and better with each game.
we look like we have a decent midfield now and look a lot stronger at the back, all be it, still need a few more clean sheets. A decent striker in the january window and I think these draws will turn into wins.
Nice to see the youth getting a look in as well, not just the token bench warming, actually getting on at some point,
So im a half full man at the moment with regards to Nuno.

Re: Nuno Out
He's improved our performances from a terrible situation he inherited from Potter. A point away at Brighton is decent. He went defensive with 10 minutes left - sometimes it pays off, other times it does not. That's just variance in football. Many managers in our state would go for these 3 points. We cannot blame him.
Re: Nuno Out
Maybe, but same could be said of the early results and decisions like leaving out Areola and Potts, or the owners wasting a couple of games signing Fernandes and Magassa.
Think we're 14th on results since Nuno turned up, 12th over the last six.
I think we'll be okay. Not many games I look at now and think we've got no hope.

Re: Nuno Out
Ten games in, ten points. Two wins in those ten games.
Extrapolate that over the course of a season and Nuno takes us to 38 points, which is below the 40 point survival target.
This, his ultra negative bus parking tactics and his inability to see out games and hold onto leads is why I am not happy with his performance so far.
Only Grant is statistically worse than him in the Premier League era.

If you're a grown up which you clearly aren't, you can be both pissed off thar we are still in the relegation zone, and also be able to acknowledge that we are no longer conceding goals after 3 minutes of games and getting thrashed every week, and that we are now at least putting the effort in and competing with teams whoever they are whilst picking up draws that will hopefully turn into wins if Nuno is given time and a bit of money to spend in January.Amateur fucking quoting
