FA Cup Draw - 3rd Round (Monday 8 December)

Post Sweep »

Is it really too much to ask for a home game against some third division team just once?

Not the usual away to a PL team shit that we normally get.

Anyway, it was an absolutely hellish night, it was fucking sheeting it down and the away end back then might as well not have had a roof, us fans were as wet as the players. On the football side, all was going swimmingly as we took a very early lead but in typical West Ham style,we ended up losing   6-1. Yet as bad as that night turned out to be,it was still the fa cup when it actually mattered. I've said on here before that there is much to dislike about modern football but above all,the watering down of the fa cup is unforgivable.
Right now the FA Cup will soon be on the same level as the Johnsons Paint trophy or whatever it's called now?

Was at QPR v Birmingham City last night. Championship football so hard to tell exactly how what was on display will translate to a cup game against a shite premier league side. And Birmingham being shite didn’t help
either. Doggedly attacking side that should make for an entertaining game. Fans were lively throughout so expect vocal support. Unlike Birmingham who were literally silent the entire time until they scored. Don’t know what’s happened to that crowd.

He may be under instructions from above to throw the game. We all know how much Sullivan hates to fork out for taking the team to additional cup away matches.

Yeah, I wouldn’t exactly describe that as ‘mullering’.

Do they have replays anymore or is that another part of the dilution of the once greatest competition?

No its extra time and penalties.

Back in the day i thought it was a shit ground, lots of restricted view and the plastic pitch nonsense and lacks the charm of fulham. But great pubs, and a choice of tubes to get home, or up town for a few more drinks. Of course now post-bowl, its the best thing ever.

Went over there about 30 years ago for a game. We Lost 2-1, but it flattered us, we were well beaten after about half an hour, ferdinand and sinclair in their prime.
I was a bit late getting to white city for the tube home and the platforms were completely deserted. All quiet. Then a lot of feedback and rustling sounds came over the tannoy and a couple of herberts started belting out bubbles, followed by an indian voice shouting get out what are you doing, youre not allowed in here. More feedback noises, a bit of chim chiminey and what sounded like a tug of war over the microphone followed by silence. I was giggling to myself for about a week after. I told the story to my old man, who was seriously ill in hospital at the time he was laughing so much he had a bad turn, we had to call the nurse over.

i think it was only the 2nd game I went to in the FA cup athe Boleyn and we drew 0-0. Replay during the week was a disaster 5-1 defeat. I was far too young to go there. I thnk we even scored first. The pitch was anud bath there. I guess that's why they got the plastic pitch.

Was in front the goal in the away end at Loftus road when Frankie Mac scored in a 0-1 win in 85/86.

We’re a brilliant team then, Bowles was a magician, Givens quality. Was it Thomas who was the winger?

Whatever happened to Hogan Ephraim? I remember a lot of people getting very excited about him as a youth player and someone came on here and swore that he would end up playing for England. Never made the breakthrough here and went to QPR and disappeared...

I've got a lot of mates who are QPR and Lotus road was the first ground I went to as a kid so ive still got a bit of a soft spot for them.

That ground is the absolute opposite to the bowl in terms of fans proximity to the pitch and they can still make some proper noise when the occasion arises normally these days against the likes of Millwall and Luton.

I do hope we give them a proper hammering though and progress further in the competition.

A cup run would be most welcome and so would being able to go to the pub without the ridicule if they beat us
