Re: Nuno Out
Did you 2 go to the game? Of course not. This isn’t on Nuno, the second goal is down to Paqueta and the 3rd we backed off but it was a class finish. We just need a focal point in attack.

2 wins from 11, a 13% win ratio. Thrown away leads in about half the games, thrown the rest by bottling it or self sabotage.

That is what a Huddersfield fan told me. Watched him loads. Not even really that good at their level.

I remember him struggling to break into their team for the majority of the season.
Most of those 37 appearances were 5 minute cameos at the end of the game.
It definitely wasn't mostly 5 minute cameos. He played less than 15 minutes in only 6 out of his 40 games for them. He played at least 27 minutes in ALL of Bristol City's last 15 games, and in another dozen games before then.
You can see minutes played per game on transfermarkt:

Re: Nuno Out
Earthy is ready for minutes again now imo. A 15 min cameo here and there. He’s a quick thinker, great at finding pockets of space and a good ball carrier, 2 footed and great passer. He was ahead of Potts at one point but his development has been slowed due to injuries at the start of last season and this one too. He has had only 4 or 5 games since a long lay off Iirc and it takes a time to build the match fitness needed for 90 mins and obviously thats even harder at PL level where the game is an order of magnitude faster and places huge physical demands on players. Todibo is a case in point, I think his improvement is in part down to having a proper run of games along with better coaching and being switched to play the left sided CB role. Not playing with Kilman more recently probably a factor too but his fitness levels got to where they needed to be simply by having a long run of games.
Anyway, back to Earthy, like I say, hoping he starts getting some minutes perhaps as a late sub for Fernandes who he seems most similar to in terms of playing style / profile.

And I don't have a thing for Marshall, he's just not good enough. The manager did bring him on in a game, and he was ridiculously shit. Soucek has come on in 2 games and scored important goals, much as he's not for me as a player.
Anyway, as said before, you crack on wasting energy on digging the manager out for not sticking even more youth players on the bench. I'll be a bit more realistic about the overall situation."you crack on wasting energy on digging the manager out for not sticking even more youth players on the bench"

12 games actually 25 sub appearances and most of them 35 minutes plus.
He was BC YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR. no mean feet.
He got better as the season went on.
he's a player and will benefit the team.
He's scored in the PL.
Yeah, as I said, I'd probably have him on the bench, but I'm not sure it's really worth having a meltdown about. Plus, he has been injury prone in his short career, and was out until recently. By all accounts, he was puffing after an hour last night, maybe that's why he's not been on the bench?

You're using a 19 year old Brazilian who, let's be honest, has been absolute pony in the odd game he has started, Earthy, who has been injured and mostly struggled to get game time last season at Bristol City, and as for Marshall, I'm not even gonna bother to respond to calls for him anymore, I've said what I've said, he looked like a raffle winner last time he came on.
I find it absolutely baffling that any West Ham fan can look at that squad, coupled with having watched us at the beginning of the season under Potter, and expect someone to come in, tighten up what was the worst defence I've ever seen for the first 6 games of the season, enable us to defend corners, get us scoring goals in competitive games, AND still expect us to be constantly on the front foot for 90 minutes all out attack, with 1 striker who is 33 years old and has a history of bad injuries, 2 wingers worth a rub of salt, one of whom is injury prone, and fuck all backing the 3 of them up.
To each their own, you keep moaning away about him not playing Callum Marshall, I'll wait till he has a transfer window.
Haha you really have a thing about Marshall don't you....think last week I said i would rather him on the bench then 4 centre mids and this is now the fourth time you've brought it up? What has he done to rattle you so much?
And just to clarify, I didnt moan he didnt play him. I moaned at him not putting any forward options on the bench, of which he is one. If he looks like a raffle winner what did Soucek look like up top against Bournemouth?
I know the squad is shit, we all know that. But having some legs and pace to come on up top is a better option than having Soucek, Irving or Rodriguez that is my point for the third time!
No one is asking us to play how you have said above, you've completely made that up to try justify your pointless rant.
Finally, Earthy won young player of the season at Bristol City. Made 37 appearances in the league.

If Nuno attacks more and none of this 5 at the back with Rodriguez in midfield.
He should know now that he can't sit back in every game.
I doubt he will try and win more than 2 games, draws are not good enough.
Wouldn'tit be wonderful to win 4 of those games because we attacked more,we might get lucky a get a bore draw against Villa.
If we win 2 out of the next 4 I'll be delighted, we've won 3 all season ffs.

Useless cսnt needs to start picking all the pacey top notch forwards we have, like the raffle ticket to play winner Callum Marshall.
We played well on sunday, thought we looked decent going forward. Hitting teams on the counter with some pace with the likes or Summerville, Ghillurme, Earthy......maybe even Marshall...... is a better option to relieve pressure and get us up the pitch than shoving Soucek up there and being under the cosh for 40 mins.
It worked against a awful Newcastle team and Burnley so Nuno seems to think its the blueprint now. Any half decent side and we will come unstuck more often than not. Once you park the bus and sit in if a team scores early then its incredibly hard to swing that momentum back round to try and get a foothold in the game again. It's even harder when you've only got Fullkrug and yet more Centre mids on the bench to try attack a team again.

We had 2 shot's on target in the whole game.
What are on earth on you on about that's a 2left feet quote ?
None against Arsenal and Liverpool. We hardly attack and hardly shoot on target. Wilson and Bowen the only one's .
If you don't shoot on target you don't score.
If we get more than 2 shots on target against Villa and City I'll be suprised.
If we went for it over the next six games win 3 lose 3 that's 9 points, sit back and settle for a draw that's 4 points even against Wolves.
The point is the best we looked and the least chances they had were when we were NOT sitting back and inviting pressure. Id rather Summerville be up one end missing chances than asking Kilman or Diouf or Mavro to defend. Thes best way to WIN games and get more points is to keep playing what gave us the lead in the first place. 15 mins to go should be the earliest point to shut up shop and camp in our box.

threesixty wrote: ↑09 Dec 2025, 12:07 I will just point out that at Bournemouth we had far more attacking chances and shots on goal than they did and only converted one.
Statistically the chances of us losing games where we go all out attack are very high because we dont convert enough of our chances anyway!
So I think Nuno is probably right on balance with his approach until we get better, more clinical forward players in the transfer window.
You've kind of answered your own question....
We had far more attacking chances and shots on goal than the opposition away from home before he decided to sit back and park the bus for 40 mins. We are decent going forward now with the new midfield players so keep attacking teams. Putting pressure defensively on the likes of Diouf and Kilman is suicide. Be brave, and keep playing.
