I liked Paqueta and appreciate his statement. Don't care if he didn't write it, he approved it and posted it or whatever. He was a frustrating player, and on the whole it didn't work towards the end. I enjoyed a lot of his play and he gave us quite a bit of enjoyment.
Have to acknowledge good time for him to go, as we are finding we can do well without him.

A GOOD player on his day. A potentially EXCELLENT player on his day.
Unfortunately, those days turned into weeks if not months.
Like most others that wear the C and B, think he always saw us as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. That cսnt Kudus springs to mind.
Didn't really help himself with the 'staying for the remainder of the season' shit, only to want to fuck off like a rat up a drain pipe as soon as.
Still, I wish him no ill will (if for no other reason than THAT pass in Prague).
Yet another 'could've been', consigned to memory.

He had more tricks (when he weren't gifting it back to the opposition) but the 1 player in our Squad post Rice that is the most talented is Bowen. 

 

 

I don't know about that, Bowen is a bit of a one-trick pony. It's a great trick but until last week, teams who had him sussed would show him onto the line and that was the end of that.

The right-footed cross for the goal at the weekend was great, so I'm crossing my fingers that he is now a two-trick pony.

Paqueta is much more versatile and a better tackler, obviously both suited to different positions but if you're looking for The West Ham Way then you don't sell Kudus and Paqueta and keep Bowen. Perhaps if Paqueta is replaced by someone with a range of passing to free up Bowen in different ways it will end up being a positive move. A Carrick type, but we've finally got rid of Rodrigues so I doubt we'll be looking for a slower central midfielder to replace a flair player. Even Coufal was more West Ham Way for a defender than all of our current ones. Not that I think we should have kept him, it's just that in our desperation to stay up we're losing our identity. I'd sooner go down than that, but in this age of football we would lose all the flair if that happened anyway.

While I agree with the sentiment of the above, I can't think of any players we have attracted because Lucas was there that have made a difference.

I'd agree with that. Not the same level as Di Canio maybe, but on the whole I liked him. Worked hard, too.

I agree with his worth pre betting trial. But don't think he was anything like Di-Canio nor do I think he will he be remembered for anything other than the pass to Bowen.

The most talented player in the squad? In terms of what he was capable of, perhaps. But in terms of his all round game, eg passing, then I wouldn't be so sure.

I certainly don't think we are poorer without him. If we are then it's certainly not discernible in the results when he isn't playing. My view is he has been liability for the last year or so and I am glad to see the back of him. Being the most capable player doesn't change that.

He got way too much credit (he deserves some) for that pass. It was Bowen who did most of the work by signalling he was willing to run in to that gaping space in behind and then the rest was all on Bowen to score it under pressure from a defender and an on rushing Keeepr.

For the most part he has been a let down with an awful professionalism/attitude to jump ship when the shit hits the fan when all the Club ever did was stand by him unequivocally. We deserved better treatment than that and in my opinion he did get caught out being a greedy cսnt with his pals through the bookies.
