Could be a new thread. If you were a player, which opposition player, could you not have resisted punching in the face.

Re: Chelsea vs West Ham | PL | 31.1.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Pablo and Taty’s levels ( running ) definitely drops for the last 20-30 mins. But so does Soucek’s and Fernandes. Nuno seems to be one dimensional in his thinking that you defend only across the back line, “the last line of defence” literally. But anyone who has played the game knows that you defend best as a team and the better you are at it further up the pitch the less of the load on the back 4 etc. Reduce the number of crosses into the box. Starts with pressing CBs and the opposition back line into passing but then makimg it hard to progress through midfield. Chelsea changes were designed to bolster midfield and get down the flanks. Nuno needed someone like Marshall and one other ( could even be a midfielder or defender so long as they have legs / stamina ) to come on last 20 mins and to simply press relentlessly. In midfield, same remit to refresh the middle and contimue pressing. Magassa is good at interceptions and would like Potts be told to run their arses off for 20 mins. KWP to replace Bowen to plug the wide right flank and I would have preferred Mayers on with Scarles to add legs and pace on the left and give Neto, Palmer and co far less space and time. Stick with 2 CBs. Stop the supply. Nuno has never tried anything but adding the slow, hesitant Kilman as a third CB. He got the Scarles for Diouf sub right but as memtioned needed the legs and pace of Mayers too down that left side as that was the main area where the threat was coming from.
It would seem ( as we suspected ) Nuno is tactically limited. Would be interesting to know what Paco was saying to him ( if anything ) and whether he listened?

On 60 mins though Pablo is fucked, Taty's levels drop and then the thing that makes us look like a decent side can't happen for the final 20 mins as we cant replicate it from the bench.
It feels like the only way to win matches is to be winning with 20-30 mins left and then hang on. There is no other way to win looking at the blueprint of the squad. While you've made some good points, I can't believe that a young player like Pablo can't get through 90 minutes.
Fair point, he was sweating his tits off on about 30 mins when the camera went to him.
The whole team seemed to lose energy and half a yard as soon as they scored their first. Whether its a mentality thing, or whether its Nuno not reacting to their subs and putting fresh legs into the middle of the pitch I dunno. But we seemed to lose the intensity in our press as soon as we conceded.

There is no reason that the player coming on for Pablo can't do the same role (even if it's not the natural position for the player coming on) Closing down and making a general nuisance in the final third. Bringing a centre half on is an invitation to the opposition to attack, and for our own players to retreat. We know what happens next.Yep i totally agree. The issue is that on that bench there isn't anyone that presses from the front and can hold the ball up. Thats the issue. Pablo is good at taking the ball back to goal and linking up with the midfield. Asking a Potts or Magassa to do that against centre halves is pointless. Wilson can do it, but he doesnt press half as good and is usually up there on his own by the time he comes on.
There's no solution to the problem with this squad. Combined with the fact we cant keep a clean sheet, expect many more points dropped form winning positions in the second half of games.I'd argue that we would have had a better chance with Potts or Magassa coming on in Pablo position. A player who is at least up the pitch and able to get involved. Bringing on a centre half was waving the white flag. Chelsea obviously have a superior squad but we made it easier for them than it had to be.
I am agreeing with you mate, my point is if Nuno wants to play that way and has seen this month that it works........then we need another striker or attacking midfielder to avoid us having to change tactics every single match for the closing stages.

Re: Chelsea vs West Ham | PL | 31.1.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
A third goal would have killed it and we got in some good positions, usually wide right, but Fernandes had a good opportunity where he cut in from the left inside the box and had pretty much the whole back stick to aim at but went more central and it was blocked. How come you never saw Paqueta in those positions, I think he got a nose bleed if he entered the 18 yard area.
Once it went 1-2 it was all so inevitable. At least take a point from it ffs.

I think its just that Cucurella has the most punchable face. I would do that same in that position.
Re: Chelsea vs West Ham | PL | 31.1.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Apart from the Wolves game, we usually play well for about 60 minutes. We don’t have loads of options on the bench, but this time we at least had Potts, Magassa and Wilson. Nuno clearly made the wrong substitutions and not for the first time.
As the media reported, it was a tactical masterclass from Rosenior, bringing on three players at halftime who cost a combined £200m. A mark of a true genius.
We bring on a bodybuilder with roid rage. By the way, what a fucking idiot. He had just won us a corner in the last minute and decided to go mental. What was he so angry about? Todibo was also stupid but it all stemmed from muscle Mary getting all upset over nothing.

Re: Chelsea vs West Ham | PL | 31.1.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Watching the game we should have been 3 or 4 up on 60 mins. Soon as they scored the team just stopped doing what was so good for the first 60 mins. Sitting deeper, no press from the front. Not getting into them in the midfield. We shat ourselves, theres no leadership on the pitch to sort things out.
Nuno then fucks it as per with 5 at the back and Kilman. He had a easy ball upfield to play, shits himself goes to play it to Diouf and sends it off for a throw. Was that then the start of the equaliser? Thought Mavro had to do much better for the first in marking Pedro. Takes a step forwards just before he crosses it for no reason whatsoever. Unfortunately Mavro and Kilman for two league games could prove fatal for us.
Traore is an absolute disgrace. Debut and he goes and does that. Complete retard. Todibo is also thick as shit, 3 game ban for our best defender over some handbags. Should be a 2 week wage fine. Love that he sticks up for his teamates but dont get played to get banned for 3 games.
3 points dropped yet again, there is huge pressure on the next two now without our best CB.

TBH, Pedro annoyed me so much I would accept relegation as a consequence of Tobido or whoever landing one on his smug face. It would be worth it.
But seriously, Tobido has gone up in my estimation for his reaction.
