"A good win because it was against scousers, but we didn’t win because we frustrated them with our solid defending, they frustrated themselves with their misses. We didn’t beat them with craft and guile of our play, our two defensive midfielders got rare (nowadays for Soucek) goals……that was what Moyes was admitting in his post match interview….it’s pretty well what we’ve done since that first season of his back….when we did well with our pressing and got what can really be deemed great results….."

"Well I've just re-watched the game from the 27th minute and we did press high. We did not play what I think ""low block"" is. All players funnelling back to form a 10 man defence. I thought we looked like a footballing team not quite managing our passes and dribbles accurately. Everton looked like a poor footballing team playing early long balls. I thought Everton lacked fire power and didn't feel threatened by them until they scored from a good cross and header which was out of character for everything else they did. Areola saved a penalty and made some very good stops but that's what he's there to do. ""Massive"" clubs have the better players. However, he also flapped at a few crosses too. This is his big weakness. And let's not make it seem that we were lucky because Pickford made some good stops too. Overall I was pleased with the game because it wasn't a Moyes bore fest. Paqueta and JWP had one of those days when nothing goes right for them. I'm a little bit disappointed about Mavropanos who can be good until he spends too much time on ball. Inevitably he makes occasional errors that set the oppposition going. We miss Dawson for sure but I think Mav, Zouma and Aguerd will only ever work as a back 3. The late appearance of Ogbonna suggests he is going to get a run soon. Possibly Thursday? Let's see how he looks because Moyes seems to have run out of patience with Aguerd and Zouma needs protecting so maybe against the teams like Villa and Newcastle our defence needs to be much stronger than either Aguerd or Mavropanos partnering Zouma..."

Is it possible that Moyes set up to win the game yesterday? Sacrificed some control and the usual 10 men behind the ball to allow more build up and intention? Did he take a (thankfully correct) gamble that Everton were toothless? If so that's a real change.

Have only seen MOTD so accept it might not be a full picture of the match but Everton did seem to get into scoring positions too easily and Areola was MOTM. They arent very good but on the balance of play shown they probably should have beaten us but we hung in and had T Soucek on hand to score a ridiculous goal. Moyes was honest enough (unlke most managers) that it wasnt really a 3-1 and that Areola saved us That said I will take beating Everton and winning away every day of the week. After they have been circling the bowl for years hopefully this is the season they finally get flushed. Would have been pissed off if 6 points from us kept them up.

"Jkb 1.34, Oops sorry I stepped out of line there, mea culpa. I see you refer to all our previous managers, none of whom lost as many games in a season compared to Moyes 22/23. That motley crew also have win records in a season that do not match Moyes winning half our EPL games in season 21/22. There might be detected a hint of bias when persistently harping on about, undeniably a huge negative, and at the same time failing to mention a huge positive. Oh and be patient Moyes goes in the summer."

Well I'm sorry to disagree with you there Full Claret but we didn't p[lay low block at all. Yes I saw the whole game. My planned event was cancelled today but I'll watch a replay later to see if I was getting it wrong. I recall that we pressed high all game and Areola hardly touched the ball 1st half. We did keep losing possession but mainly due to passing errors and failed dribbles. Everton were very direct with long balls which made me wonder why Moyes had switched game plan. Perhaps I'm wrong but I'll check out later.

"A match that typifies Moyes tenure. A 3-1 win which relied heavily on the keeper, goal line clearances and a scoreline that flatters. We should have been dead and buried in that match. The defending was shocking at times. Paqueta had one of those games where his touch and passing was off. Gave away the ball way too much. I actually though first half there were periods of good positive link up play but the final pass or decision was poor. Didnt test Pickford. Second half we did the stupid low block and invited Everton on. Of course they were going to score. What I would say is the team doesnt give up but at no point did West Ham look like a team in control or the better side. Overall it's a massive away win. Another 3 goals scored and a boost to the team. No doubt this will be seen as justification to the tactics but Soucek isnt pulling out a world class strike every week and Areola isnt Superman."

"Alfs 4:29 Sun Mar 3 MOTD made it look far more one sided (to Everton) than it was. Spot on! I missed the first ten minutes and therefore Areola's first save, when I did join we were having a good spell keeping Everton pressed back in their defensive third and forcing corners, MotD showed none of this. They even edited out the fact our third came from an Everton corner. The game was a decent watch with both teams playing for the win but lacking the technique and composure when put under pressure. Thought our performance was pretty similar to Monday spells where we pressed high and put a lot of pressure on the opposition mixed with spells where we returned to type, all in all a very good three points."

'I know it was never a certainty bit his sacking had nothing to do with results! in fact wasn't he offered a new 4-year contract?' Same as Moyes says he has a contract offer and is waiting. Apparently it's everyone elses fault he hasn't signed it.

"""Redknapp finished 5th and 9th before being sacked for less than the form Moyes had last year."" I know it was never a certainty bit his sacking had nothing to do with results! in fact wasn't he offered a new 4-year contract? But when he went to Terry Browns office expecting to sign it, he was sacked instead due to comments about lack of cash for transfers and an interview he had given and been critical of Brown and the Club."

"Oh dear, Nick lost out on £380 because Alvarez sprinted the whole length of the pitch to chip an absolutely delightful ball over the England keeper? Let's start a JustGiving page for him - he must have found it traumatising the poor lamb."

"Watching Alvarez run the whole length of the field in the last minute when he was already out on his feet was something I found pretty amusing, just as well he got on the end of it. Nick from c&b stood to win 380 quid had it stayed 1-2 he admitted he is seriously pissed and didn't celebrate the third goal and he should have cashed out. Fair play, I'd feel the same."

"'I understand that you begrudge the club any succes' No I welcome it. Which is why I think we can actually achieve better with the right manager despite the jaded context you justify Moyes as a success against. Redknapp finished 5th and 9th before being sacked for less than the form Moyes had last year, That was way before we became a sell out largest ST holder base in the PL, and became the 10th highest net spenders in Europe for the last decade."

"The dodgy stream I had for this game meant I never really got into the first half, so decided to wait until MotD to see the game. Difficult to judge the overall performance, we scored three good goals and I am really happy with another win. So hopefully onwards and upwards."
