Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"Irish Hammer 1:58 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! So in your scenario it would most likely mean clubs from 7 to 10 would be entered into the CL, as the top 6 will be dominated by those with the billions in the ESL. I don't see that happening."

"So let’s say they give in and allow the 2 year trial, these 6 clubs will have £3bn in the bank. How are “ smaller “ teams going to keep their best players? These 6 clubs will basically buy up all the talent because they will need huge squads. Goodbye Declan, goodbye Jesse, goodbye Tomas and hello Arsenals rejects."

I'd hate it if we were part of this. Getting thumped by Newport and Oxford occasionally is all part of being a football fan.

It’s now up to the fans of these clubs to kick up a fuss and say they’ll boycott games

"Jasnik ? The way I'm thinking is top 4 gets Champs League but the English Clubs in this new league won't be able to get there so places will go to the top 4 teams without the ones going to new ""Super League Vomit cսnt Club"" So we are nailed on :)"

"It’s all about the money and the sheer arrogance that the top teams feel that they can just continue to play in their domestic league as well as this midweek wankfest too. The shame is that every single top player will either be involved with these teams or want to be involved and that will significantly change football in this country, and not for the better. The whole point of football in this country and others is the rivalry and history. I very much doubt that the vast majority of fans of the teams involved would actually want it either. They’re hardly going to travelling to away games regularly! I hope the Premier League hit them all hard and demote them several divisions if possible. As far as they can. Then, when they work their way back up through the leagues, find some way to demote them all again."

They could go down that route Irish. But that would mean getting certain governments involved. That are.( Can’t believe I’m saying this.) Even more bent than these 12 clubs.

Irish Hammer 1:49 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! Why would all the best players leave? They've been told that they won't be able to represent their country if they play in this competition. I reckon a lot of players will leave these clubs as they won't agree with it.

"RBshorty 1:49 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! Could be some Qatar team, or a Chinese Team ? They could just create a team buy fuck loads of players like the Chinese League did and enter the new league. The Asian TV market is insane. And bring huge viewers with it."

"It may be good thing it just exposes what football is all about now and has been since the PL started. Its not about fans anymore it about merchandise and making money. I hope we stay out and get some old big clubs in the top fligh like Sheffield Wednesday , Sunderland and Boro amougst others"

And of course there would be no need for them to pay any adherence to any FFP Its fucking horrible that this is going to happen. All we can hope is the teams left in the Premiership get more fans and a new breed of top four teams come through and are supported and good players remain there. But I think its inevitable that all the good players will leave togo to this new format. So it'll be the average and slightly better than average player left in the Premiership.

Won’t be a German team. Because of ownership rules. Ajax has already come out and said what a silly idea it is. Reckon it could be Napoli and Marseille. Maybe a Russian team or a Turkish one.

It’s disgusting. Some old boys club by invitation only for self enrichment. Oh but don’t worry they still will want to play the hoi poloi back home when there’s time so no worries there. But what will the rest of us have to play for us CL is a closed shop? If I were Leicester I’d be mightily fucked off as they have won the league and consistently been CL contenders for some time now.

"These 6 have to be thrown out of English football asap. It may cause short term pain due to decreased TV revenue but it would be for the good of the game. You cannot allow the tail to wag the dog. The game has to stand up to these arrogant bullies and show them that the game is bigger than them, and not vice versa. And just who the fuck do Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea think they are? Arsenal are a mediocrity, Spurs don't win things and Chelsea were fuck all until a dodgy Russian spent nearly £2BILLION on helping them win stuff."

"Bayern Arena aren't in (yet) because of the German ownership model. PSG aren't in (yet) because BeIn Sports of Qatar have the deal with UEFA for the Champions League. Who the other one is, most likely Dortmund imo."

"'Football is the only global sport in the world with more than four billion fans and our responsibility as big clubs is to respond to their desires.‚Äù Sorry.... this is absolutely nothing about the fans... I dont imagine there is one fan who would back this... same with players... it's a fucking greedy cսnt disgrace... Gaz Neville, Danny Murphy and Dion Dublin called it right... greed greed and more greed in a time when the whole globe is fucking struggling... it beggars belief"
