Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

It was the big clubs that fucked the European cup competitions in the first place. Too many clubs in it and too many meaningless games. UEFA cap a pathetic second-best for also rans. They are counting on the courts defending them against any collective actions by the remainder of the leagues of the governing bodies. I just don’t see how they think this works.

"They still want to compete in Domestic Comps, What, U12's in the League Cup, U21's in The FA Cup and reserves in the premiership. There's previous form with this When Man U played in that World Club Championship in Brazil (Which they got spanked in) They dropped out of the FA Cup to play in it. The FA still let them in next season. They should have been kicked out for 5 years."

Wonder if this is realistic or an attempt to try to get more a bigger slice of the pie in a reformed European competition.

J.P Morgan effectively just bought football. a snip at 4.3 billion. if there aren't picket lines stopping the few scab cunts who attend these games from getting in then we might aswell pack it all in.

"So this is the appeal of the super league, arsenal finish bottom each year but don’t get relegated, they play the same sides 4 times each season in half empty stadiums!! You can tell the yanks are behind this, next it will be 14 a side, bigger goals, play in quarters rather than 2 halves etc"

So is this right: rotated clubs can be relegated back out but founder clubs can stay in the league regardless? Yeah right oh that’s going to go down well

"World governing body Fifa has previously said it would not recognise such a competition and any players involved in it could be denied the chance to play at a World Cup. Uefa reiterated this warning on Sunday when it said players involved would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams No word of a lie this must be the biggest news in sport ever.... just seen Gary Nevilles podcast.... fuck me he was not holding back.."

"If the ""big six"" were expelled from this season and all results against them expunged, West Ham would be 9 pts clear of Leicester at the top of the table. The title could finally be ours !!!"

"they'll be commercial partners lined up, they wouldn't be this bold if nothing was in place. apparently a website is already up and running, and they are just waiting for a further three 'founder member' teams to commit, with a further five to follow later. it's laughable how they think this is sustainable ?üòÇ"

"They’ve given themselves some wiggle room by saying that they will start ‘as soon as is practicable’. So, they are prepared if this turns into a legal morass on both sides. And they all have to sort the issues out, in different countries, to get the league going. Half of them done won’t work. That makes them very vulnerable in the near term. They all need a competition for next year. Without that they have no revenue, but on the other side have outgoing like player contracts and interest payments on shiny new stadiums. The Premier League contracts may have wording in them that makes it difficult for the clubs to sue the league. A first step, and UEFA should go along with this is not allowing the six clubs to be the English representatives for any of the European competitions next year, using the ‘as soon as is practicable’ statement. After all how can they compete in the Champions league when they are planning their own breakaway league ASAP?"

"BillC79 2:26 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! To take part in football competitions you have to be members of a recognised FA, so if these clubs are all booted from their countries FA they won't have a leg to stand on."

"Reports that Liverpool have already left the European club association and so will no longer compete in UEFA events. This is from Twitter though!!! Could be bollocks or this plan is at an advanced stage....... Cunty idea though, an elite few who will rotate other clubs winning there domestic leagues into this league but no chance the elite could be relegated, even if they finished bottom, the lowest placed “rotated” club would be booted out instead?"

"Irish Hammer 2:24 Mon Apr 19 Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !! I'm sorry I must have miss read your previous post, as I thought you were suggesting that they would still be in the EPL but wouldn't be allowed to qualify for the CL. I knew that the EPL, UEFA and FIFA said they won't be allowed in said competitions."
