It was the big clubs that fucked the European cup competitions in the first place. Too many clubs in it and too many meaningless games. UEFA cap a pathetic second-best for also rans. They are counting on the courts defending them against any collective actions by the remainder of the leagues of the governing bodies. I just don’t see how they think this works.

They all need a competition for next year. Without that they have no revenue, but on the other side have outgoing like player contracts and interest payments on shiny new stadiums. The Premier League contracts may have wording in them that makes it difficult for the clubs to sue the league. A first step, and UEFA should go along with this is not allowing the six clubs to be the English representatives for any of the European competitions next year, using the ‘as soon as is practicable’ statement. After all how can they compete in the Champions league when they are planning their own breakaway league ASAP?"
