Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"I've already got a strong suspicion as to which ""European"" country will, as if by some sort of miracle, always be given one of the 5 remaining ""Guest slots""."

"Is there a link.to this Gary Neville rant, will it be on Youtube?"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Stone the crows - Gary Neville Fair play to him, not held back there has he. There will be a lot of fans, of all clubs applauding him and waiting for him to hold the PL's feet to the fire over this and I'm one of them."

"Never mind points deductions. Kick the six out of the league. The Premier League will lose some of its gloss (and revenues) as a global brand, but a more even competition can emerge. As most of the revenues generated are handed out to players and agents, payments will need to return to more realistic levels. Greater competition on the pitch would be a bonus for true football supporters. Who cares if Man City and Chelsea have a whole bench of full internationals?"

"Alex G 8:54 Mon Apr 19 Based on their past performance I fully expect the ""authorities"" involved here to kick this particular can down the road and contemplate an ""appropriate response"" once the season is over. I thought the rules on participation in, and belonging to, the Premier League were quite clear, as are the criteria for the removal of any - ANY - member."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Would be quite funny the players in these teams who are regular players in their national teams put in transfer requests rather than lose their chance to play for their country. Then how are these breakaway clubs going to sell their 'product'?
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Bundesliga sides are opposed to the plans because the German model means commercial investors cannot have more than a 49% stake in clubs, so fans hold a majority of their own voting rights. In a fantasy world, we'd all be following the German model. The owners of the clubs being touted for this sham ""competition"" don't want Bayern because the supporters have over 50 per cent of the voting rights. And also, the idea that somehow Tottenham, yes Tottenham are a BIGGER club than Bayern Munich shows just what a joke this competition will be."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Alex G 8:54 Mon Apr 19 Was thinking the same, Read somewhere if all results from the games vs the 'big 6' (get fucked) ... We would be 10/12 points clear at the top or something?"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
What are the chances of the rich six receiving a points deduction this season? Is it worth putting a bet on us to win the league at ridiculous odds?

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Every year the Premier league loses 3 clubs to be replaced by others. Normally this is based on the on-pitch performances of the clubs but can also be driven by certain off-field activities (for example administration, cheating, etc.). This season it could, as a one-off, lose six clubs and have them replaced from the Championship. The mechanism for so doing is already in place. Next season, a purely merit driven change is restored. I believe that the Premier league will be able to ride out these ""Big clubs"" leaving in the same way the SPL survived the loss of Glasgow Rangers; OK, it started out shitty, and is shitty once more, but it survived. If the ""Little 14"" and enough players at the ""Big 6"" hold together, the ""founding clubs"" (Ha fucking ha, already trying to build a history into the scheme) and their sycophantic best mates can have their competition - and the rest of football will have theirs."

"Klopp and Liverpool owners on collision course over European Super League.... https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-european-super-league-klopp-23937858 Will Pep,Ole, Mikel and Thomas show us there true colours or will the cash be too much to turn down? Wont mention Jose, as the gobby cսnt is odds on to tell us his opinion, mind you with his job on the line he may be quiet or stand behind Mr Levy........."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Greedy septics and sport don’t mix. These are association football clubs with centuries of tradition, not “franchises” to be commoditised and punted into a global money spinning super league. Fuck them. Let them take these clubs and destroy them through their greed. They’ll just become global brands with no domestic fans and their histories taken away. Good riddance to the bloated greedy cunts. Quite what the EPL and UEFA do in their absence will be critical. They will have to provide a viable alternative. Time to reinvent the domestic game. And does anyone think for a minute that GSB would have refused this had it really been offered to us? Fuck knows what it will do to our market value now. They’ll sell everything they can and we could be stuck with them for the foreseeable but with fuck all to spend."

"The authorities will ""calmly wait and see how things pan out"", meaning all they want is to find a way for themselves to save face (and keep their gravy train as full as possible); they care not a jot about ""the right thing for football""."

"just watched the Neville Rant - absolutely spot on and take a bow! - the best bit of it about Arsenal being an absolute shambles of a club in Champions League terms today, yet entitled enough to think they have a god given right to be there. He is right - this will be walked back and talked about as if the owners were only ""thinking about it"". Lies! they are deadly serious about this"

"Let’s hope the premier league actually do the right thing immediately and ban/deduct points from these clubs, no mercy."
