Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"numerous teams of parasitic lawyers will be ready to go if and when the premier league decides on a punishment, but the best outcome would be to bin these six traitors from the league and replace them with the top six of the championship, doing away with the playoffs for this season"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
The irony is the clubs are more interested in the viewers the get from Chinese etc Tv viewers than their own fans. Maybe having no fans and a fake crowd has made them feel that the fans dont matter anymore. thats a big fuck you to every normal fan who goes week in and week out to the games. Says what the big teams actually think about them.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Money was in footy before, of course. Professional sport is founded on money. But the trajectory is constantly towards a few gaining the most. Lets put it this way. Globalising and monetising a ""product"". Clearly if it can be done it will be done unless its regulated, taxed or mutualised. But, it would appear even Barcelona can't escape the filthy lucre. So, someone dangles the money in front of owners and players and they generally grab it as quickly as they can."

"JayeMPee, it’s been great GSB have been quiet lately, but maybe too quiet for them hence they may have been putting all their energies into being included in this."

"One thing I do wonder about, is whether the managers of those clubs and it's players are on board with it? Going to be an interesting few days."

"dealcanvey 11:07 Mon Apr 19 They got their £25m each from the greed created by the Premier League. They are part of the problem, so I don't really fawn over what they're saying. They've taken their money and run. so it's easy for them to look high and mighty from their position. No current players are speaking up against it, are they?"

These teams do not need CURRENT supporters cash through the ticket sales or merchandising. They will be getting over 3 billion entry money. They can fill stadiums with new tourist fans and with fans that still decide to go. They will attract new wave supporters in droves through Asia etc. The do not care for history nor the average punter. Players in my opinion will either get on board or watch their peers playing in this new league.

The Premier will be better without the so called big 6 gone.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
It’s a disgrace but not a surprise. Of course these clubs will use the pandemic as an excuse for this but the reality is they have been pushing for this for a few years now. Btw any threat of players not being allowed to represent their countries and play International football won’t work. If Harry Kane for example is offered 400k a week to stay at Tottenham and play in the super league he’s going to take it even if that does mean not playing for England. He’s not going to earn that money from any club outside the Super League.
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"It's funny, that all the clubs who wish to leave are the biggest bunch of shit cunts. They've well and truly let their fans down, I wouldn't expect anything less from Spurs with Levy in charge, Utd and Liverpool are the surprising teams for me who are meant to be all about the fans etc. Strip them of all the TV revenue money, make their seasons null and void in terms of PL and domestic cup competition results."

"dealcanvey 11:07 Mon Apr 19 You underestimate Neville. Love him or loathe him, one thing you can be sure of is that he is a person that has morals. And do you seriously think he needs to money? Neville has said his piece. Sky, his employer, gave him his platform. They know exactly how much of a threat to the PL this is and the PL is their main product. If anything it would be Sky paying him for his views on it."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"""This is EXACTLY what happens when you monetise things. It started in the early 90s"" It's not so much about money, which was already big in football in the 80s, it's about how football began to change from a sport to an entertainment. Sport is about competition, whereas this Super League wants to be nothing more than a soccer soap opera for telly viewing consumers."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
What would deducting points achieve if they plan to be playing in their own competition next season anyway?
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"This is the equivalent of football treason, a points deduction alone is really lenient. Expulsion or relegation is more appropriate. Couldnt happen to a nicer bunch."

"Lee Trundle 10:58 Mon Apr 19 The likes of Gary Neville are already worth 25 million quid. I know the perception of footballers is greed. But Neville's Kids and his grandkids are sorted for life, the thought of chucking him 500k will change his moral view is absurd. All footballers were fans first and foremost. Not everyone can be bought."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Superleague? Big Six? Are we back in the playground? They can all f off and let us get on with it. Could be the saviour of our football, get rid of those arrogant wankers and enjoy the game."

JayeMPee 10:58 Mon Apr 19 Do you think the PL are brave enough to deduct them all points? I am not so sure.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
JayeMPee 10:58 Mon Apr 19 No we won't be one of the other teams. They will want to spread involvement across as many countries with a footballing support base as possible. They've already cornered the Premier League
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Depending on the format there's going to be a hell of a lot of meaningless games. No threat of relegation or not being in next season. Just a bunch of grossly overpaid cunts, going through the motions. Messi does some elaborate flick and Kane chuckles and gives a little round of applause."
