Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

I think lots of clubs and fan bases will actually start a second club just like AFC Wimbledon etc... I actually hope this happens as think it will be the downfall of these clubs and be a huge flop they are being given $ on the assumption that TVs will buy it and people will watch it and I don’t think they will. The clubs will crumble and be kicked out / relegated from their leagues. I don’t think people will buy into it and the heritage and history of the English league will stay strong.

"I like the fact that if they enter this, UEFA and FIFA are banning the players from any of their competitions, World Cups or Euros etc. Then, boils down to if the players genuinely care about playing for their countries as much as they say they do."

I had the football on Sky on yesterday when this broke and there was a lot of talk of greed. The coverage then went off for adverts and the first one was Sky asking for £20 for Del Boy vs Joseph Parker on PPV. Greed indeed.

I should think the average Italian football fan can think of 39 reasons why they hate Liverpool as much as people in Maidstone

"First step lay with FIFA and EUFA, the PL and FA will then just say they are going along with that to which they signed up. As I mentioned earlier, the Europeans are jealous and resentful of our tv revenues and will see this as a way to put us back in the box That said, that CL revision is absolute dross, they need sort that pronto"

"I'd say the split between the scouse support is between the local hard-core spirit of shankly types, and the southern based glory hunting contingent who think they're above all other teams.the shankly group have already demanded that all flags, scarves and banners be removed from the I'll for their next home game"

BLOCK I think the owners will be totally against this and will stand up for our club and it’s history.... but only because they didn’t get invited to the party.

"It's about 50-50 on the Scousers forum about this. This cսnt Samie made me laugh. Always the victims... ""We really should consider breaking away from this godforsaken league and country. We're respected a lot more on the continent than here. Just had enough mate. Fans of other clubs who have no reason what so ever to not like us or were in no way any rivals seem to think it's okay to despise us. Like I said we're more respected in Milan than Maidstone for fucks sakes."""

"Block 3:13 Mon Apr 19 These owners clearly believe ""fans"" will keep handing money ad infinitum for anything branded with their club's identity. ESL will turn stale with in a season or two and paying fans will desert in droves (there will still be plenty of dumbfuck mugs who only see the name though and will swallow anything and everything) and may stagger on for 5 years before it's taken off life-support by it's creditors. I'd like the footballing authorities to come out and state that any player taking part in such a competition becomes ineligible to take part in any FIFA/UEFA/National competition for the 10 years following their last connection with the league. Their competitions, their rules."

"Quick question, does this now make our owners look actually pretty decent owners? We've all been screaming out for new rich billionaire owners, I wonder if people now look at our chairmen in a different light? Not for me personally, given the chance they would have signed up to this."

What do they need to take to court though! Just expel them I am looking forward to seeing these clubs playing in front of their fans... Liverpool supporters already saying no banners will be put out for games until they pull out of ESL
