Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Speaking about the proposal for the European Super League, Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin said: ""I cannot stress more strongly how everyone is united against this disgraceful, self-serving proposals, fuelled by greed above all else. ""We are all united against this nonsense of a project. Cynical plan, completely against what football should be. We cannot and will not allow that to change. ""Players who will play in the teams that might play in the closed league will be banned from the World Cup and Euros. ""We urge everyone to stand tall with us as we do everything in our power to ensure this never ends up in fruition."""
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Why will money dry up? What if tv companies decide to refuse to invest in them and players and managers refuse to play? It leaves these 12 teams in absolute turmoil
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"If the big six get shown the door and the ESL goes ahead then the whole football league will be fucked because the TV and sponsorship money will dry up for the PL. Less money means massively reduced solidarity payments, which have been keeping lower league clubs afloat, with League 2 clubs getting £500k each year. Along with COVID this would see the end of the 4 divisions as they are now as a lot of clubs will go bust."

You have to wonder if the Saudi’s interest in Toon was based on them potentially being offered a place. After all investing in a EPL team is now potentially much less investment and I’m sure JPM would not have blind sided them to this deal.
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Up next, our 4th north London derby of the season as Arsenal visit the Tottenham toilet bowl, as 15th placed Spurs Look for their first win of the season. Real Madrid could win their 4th Super-League title since the inception of the league in front of an enthusiastic home crowd as 20,000 spectators watch from the stand."

Mad Dog 5:13 I've been wishing they'd fuck off since the original Bore 4 emerged. Them and their beloved corrupt Prem League. But even I'm surprised at this level of greed. No true fan of those clubs deserves this level of sell-out.

Are not Schalke in the same boat as Dortmund and Bayern?? ie majority owned by the fans?? If so I imagine the vote would go the same way as the other two kraut clubs surely?? Just seen that Klopp tweet... if true fair play that man...

"In many ways the Premier League have created a monster. 20 years ago the top 6 clubs were not this massive global brand that they are now. Man City & Chelsea were barely bigger than West Ham in terms of Global exposure. Now these clubs are so big and have mopped up so much of the overall footballing fan base that any league without them means a massive loss in revenue, sponsorship deals, TV viewership etc. More clubs will go into financial peril. I get the romantic notions of getting football back to a working class game and anyone can win the league etc but kids no longer just support their local teams, they want to support the most successful teams with the best players and those players will be in this new super league."

"Taking this down through the pyramid, should the big six get shown the door, it'll be a fairly substantial ""everybody take three (more) steps up the ladder"" at the end of the season. That would mean 3 new entrants to League 2. Who is it most likely to be?"

"Schalke are all but relegated , so if they don’t go straight back up , which normally happens in the german league ,they will have a second league team in this new fangled league , not so super league!"

cup of tea 5:12 Mon Apr 19 Well said Tottenham wont win shit for the next 23 years that´s for sure now
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Happy, if that goes ahead... and it just might, I reckon I'm done with football. These clubs are a fucking disgrace. Happy for them to fuck off and do their own league. But should be banned from all other competition."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Premier League meeting tomorrow. Hopefully that signals the end of the breakaway clubs in the domestic leagues and cups. Let them fuck off we don't need them. Reform the league's and promote more from the Championship and then balance out all the tiers downwards. Any joining of a super league should result in INSTANT expulsion from domestic leagues and cup competition's as well as their records wiped.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
I didn't realise they intend to stay and compete in the EPL at the same time. And legally it might be difficult to throw them out. That would be a disaster.
