Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"Fuck these cunts off and get the likes of Forest, Derby, Sheffield W etc up - proper clubs"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Erase all the results of these teams’ fixtures and we are 9 points clear with 5 games to go We’re gonna win the league
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Mike Who is to say, we don't know those rules It is against EUFA rules to set up in competition, but they will argue that they intend remaining in all existing tournaments and starting their own in addition They will not have traveled this path without heavyweight legal consultation and I expect that they have a case if they are expelled The issue of course is how a court, where ever that may be, and what ever laws prevail there, judge the case"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"I am actually glad all this is happening. I said the bubble would burst at some point and to a degree this is the start of a major change in the European and our domestic game. Whilst I understand clubs wanting to better themselves with the best players, stadiums and honours this is nothing more than corporate franchise greed. The saying ""you cant have your cake and eat it"" needs to be firmly adhered to and the clubs wanting in on this bollocks should simply be banned from all domestic league and cup competition at the earliest opportunity. The game was built on the foundations of working class and fans and that should remain even if it has been wittled away since the SKY era began. To some degree there is still SOME of that left but having a monopoly of so called big clubs dictate is not the way the game should be run and nor should it be EVER. There needs to be some swift and hard ball action taken and meetings should take place about the restructure of the pyramids in the game as soon as is feasibly possible. There needs to be a balance in each league based on performance even if decided historically so that founding new era leagues can be formed. If that means a smaller top flight (or even larger if that works) then so be it - maybe revert to a 22 team PL? If these 6 cսnt clubs leave that leaves 86 clubs at league level - is that right? 20 PL 20 Championship 20 League 1 26 League 2 enabling more promotion and relegation between the conference and football league Maybe my workings are wrong but you get my gist, hopefully. The domestic cups would need to be reorganised as well but AT NO POINT should any breakaway club be permitted to enter at any stage"

Bring back the intertoto cup and the Anglo Italian cup while you're at it.
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Interesting piece: “Sky Sports News' Kaveh Solhekol has spoken to an unnamed board member from one of the 'Big Six' Premier League sides which agreed to join the European Super League on Sunday, who revealed that splits have already emerged within club hierarchies over the proposals. ""To be honest, they are not that worried about PR,"" one unnamed club board member told Sky Sports News. ""Our primary job is to maximise our revenues and profits. The wider good of the game is a secondary concern. Kaveh Solhekol reports that some board members at the clubs which have agreed to join a breakaway European Super League are opposed to the plans The owners want less football, not more football. They would be secretly delighted about the prospect of their players being banned from the European Championships and the FIFA World Cup. Several owners still cannot understand why we have relegation in English football - ""they just can't get their head around the concept,"" the board member said. ""They don't like giving their playing assets away to countries for very little financial reward,"" he added. If the clubs were allowed to stay in the Premier League, they would focus on midweek Super League games and there is a real possibility that they would field weakened teams for domestic games at the weekends. Companies in the USA and Saudi Arabia have been sounded out about buying the broadcast rights to the new League. When asked if there was a civil war in football now, he said: ""This is not a civil war, it's a nuclear war."" Some of the other 14 Premier League clubs want the six breakaway clubs to be sanctioned immediately and they believe the sanctions should include suspension from the current Premier League season. One club owner has said privately that he would be prepared to leave the Premier League if they had to and the owners of the six sides involved are totally committed to setting up the new ESL. The breakaway is being driven by Manchester United co-owners Malcolm and Joel Glazer, and United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, with backing from American investment bank JP Morgan. Several owners still cannot understand why we have relegation in English football - ""they just can't get their head around the concept,"" the board member added. Chelsea and Manchester City had major reservations about joining the Super League. In the end, they decided they could not afford to be left playing in weakened Premier League and Champions League competitions."

"nerd 6:17 Mon Apr 19 What is there to ""look at""? Did they break the rules they agreed to follow by being part of the league, yes or no? Can't see much to look at there?"

"Hopefully, the remaining 14 clubs are going to decide their punishment. Give them a Glasgow Rangers style punishment and send them down the leagues, we can all live without them for 5/6 years."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Interesting isn’t that when tweets Bowen made when he was 14 are made public the footballing authorities instantly move into action. When the hardly unexpected move of six major clubs saying they are forming a Super League and there seems no action plan?

"If they've transgressed the rules of the organisation which they themselves agreed, ratified and signed, then they must accept whatever punishment such transgression warrants. Otherwise it's exactly like taking part in and agreeing with a process then disagreeing with it when the democratically agreed outcome runs against what you now personally want. They can't have both, and neither can the league: PL & CL or ESL."

"The only acceptable punishment is for them to be kicked out of the league, surely? Anything else isn't much of a punishment for them."

"Although we might be able to compensate them with the opportunity to play international footcall, Debs, I'm not sure we'd be able to compensate them the £400k a week they'd be missing out on if they did sign for us."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Eat the rich. Let them p*ss off. I'm hoping there's severe punishment from PL and Uefa to these teams. Points deductions or relegations this seasons would be fantastic. Any point deduction that moves us top would be hilarious.

"Northern Sold thanks for the link and good on him. If the FA stand by what they say and stop.players from.these teams playing for their national.side, do.you think.we'll see some cheeky bids from.the likes.of Leicester and Leeds (or maybe even us) for some of the players?"

"Let 'em go. Merge with Scottish leagues: PL brings in Celtic, Rangers, Hibees, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Hearts. It'll be far more passionate and a lot louder than the library at Ashburton Gate, where the NINTH best team in England play. Better (trickier) away days, too. Bring back standing - job done. [Burp! I may have been drinking.]"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
I don't think most ambitious young players would give a shit about playing for their country if they'd get more fame and money by joining the ESL.
