Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"In the film ""coach carter"" the two best players walk out in protest of his methods ""Coach they were the highest scorers of last season"" ""Then I guess we'll have new high scorers then this season"" Feel the same with the ""big 6"" If they fuck off, someone will fill the void. The league will be a more level playing field. People really need to remember football wasn't invented in 1992"

So you think diddy Dave will vote for something that’ll vastly reduce his income? No chance. Money talks & the 14 will be desperate to stay on that gravy train.

"""The domestic TV money is peanuts"" No, it's not. It's currently at £5bn for 2019-22. Overseas TV rights amount to £4.2bn over the same period."

"Does anyone seriously believe that the overseas TV deal will continue without the big 6? To us the PL will become more enjoyable & entertaining but the rest of the world don’t see it that way. The domestic TV money is peanuts, if the big 6 left tomorrow & the foreign TV money goes with them - we go straight out of business."

"I dont know if the 6 cunty clubs clubs anticipated or cared about the resentment this has caused but i think the fact that they have officially signed up to this is enough, whether it gets off the ground or not. If the plans are to play their games in the USA or Asia are true then they have totally disregarded the feelings of their genuine fan bases and this will (rightly) be deemed as inforgivable. FIFIA, UEFA and the games rulers in each if the country's represented by each of these clubs need to stand together and banish these outlaws from all levels of the game and not just temporarily, kick em out for good. But they wont,as ever, money talks loudest and it seems there is plenty of it to sweeten any authority opposing this hijacking of the game."

"'Possibly the Bundesliga will overtake the Premier League as the ‘premier’ domestic league' Not competitive enough IMO. Bayern win every year. And if they don’t, they steal their rivals best players for free a year or two later. Where’s the interest in that? Part of the PLs success is its current competitiveness, even if that’s pretty limited (with the likes of Man city or Chelsea throwing cash around like confete). Sadly, where the greedy 6 clubs should be recognising that and encouraging it, they are hell bent of destroying it for a few bucks."

"I agree. I, too can see the Stupor League going head-to-head at weekends with existing domestic leagues in the battle for viewing figures. I'd give it two years before even the thickest of non-English speakers realises that he's now only watching a pastiche of the team he once followed religiously in the Premiership. and starts seeking his entertainment elsewhere."

"The Treacherous 6 should be kicked out. If they aren’t then much stricter regulation on ownership and fan involvement is necessary. BUT…the Premier League without the 6 will be a different beast. It would not attract the same following and thus the same TV revenues. Not a disaster in the long run but there would be a period of adjustment to negotiate during which TV revenues are reduced but player salaries continue to reflect those larger revenues. Without domestic competition the ESL would move their games to the weekends for a bigger global audience. I’m convinced that would be their next step anyway, even if allowed to stay in the domestic leagues – another reason not to permit that to happen. Possibly the Bundesliga will overtake the Premier League as the ‘premier’ domestic league."

"In the Premier League, as a percentage, which games have produced most bangs-per-buck, and which games have produced most damp squibs? A) Games between 2 ""Big 6"" teams? B) Games between a ""Big 6"" team and a make-weight? C) Games between 2 make-weights? Not sure you can avoid pundit/commentator influence here, but they seem to have far more to say when they build up a type ""A"" game and it then falls flat on it's face; almost as if they had a personal investment in the game."

"""if those six clubs are not in the Prem then it will impact greatly on the TV money which the other 14 clubs need badly after the absence of fans."" Is Big 6 spin willingly spread by the media who don't actually seem to understand the product they are selling - or are using it in support of their own, short-term, agenda."

"This could be a blessing in disguise for the pyramid as a whole. Even if 10% of those clubs fan bases decide to walk away for the good of the game, the benefits for clubs such as Tranmere who could find themselves with higher gate numbers as former Liverpool fans start up, same with some of the lower league London clubs close to Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea. I think for the majority of fans they want competition, rivalry, local derby games with promotions, relegations, bragging right all on the line. The super league won't have any of that, 1 winner, no losers, repeat repeat. If this was West ham in that position I seriously would be finding the best way Dagenham on Saturdays from now on as I want that as part of the game I go to see, something on the line. The superleague will only alienate more supporters and even the thick cunts that support man utd, Liverpool etc because of the history, even they surely can see this is bad for the sport overall."

"I think it could be the change that football needed... We could also have rules such as 5 english players in the team, potential salary caps and so much more. I see this as a huge positive and the 'big six' *cough bullshit wankers* will come crawling back / have breakaway clubs COYI"

What stops this clubs asking for more when the renegotiation is due? Nip in the bud now and threaten expulsion if goes ahead. The rest of the clubs in England and Europe cannot keep getting held to ransom when the so called big clubs stamp their feet.

"""if those six clubs are not in the Prem then it will impact greatly on the TV money which the other 14 clubs need badly after the absence of fans."" No it won't. The Championship has become one of the most entertaining leagues in the world with viewing figures that beat La Liga.. If the PL ditched the greedy shitcunt clubs that have dominated the league due to CL money, it'd be far more competitive and greater viewing than any European Elite yawn fest with a deadened souless fanbase with little to no rivalry. This alll started because of greed. The CL. Co-efficient ratings. Seeding. It all needs to be stopped. If the PL vote to allow them to break away the PL is totally dead. It won't be worth watching.."

"So what is the deal that is to be done with the 14 other PL clubs then that keeps the ""Big 6"" in the PL and the ESL, if that what everyone suspects has to happen. There must be a deal that benefits us or whats the point? Otherwise, how the hell do we ""just let"" the likes of Arsenal and Spurs help themselves to $300M without even finishing in the Euro places, but so they can anyway play and keep playing European Football in perpetuity, and we all stand by and simply let them get away with it. Its just not worth it anymore if that shit is allowed to go down unchallenged and the FA and the ""other 14"" will be as culpable if they let themselves be walked over. A stand must be made."

"I think there will be a deal struck that favours the ""Big"" clubs which will in the long run leads to a European Super League. Hope it isn't the case but money talks and if those six clubs are not in the Prem then it will impact greatly on the TV money which the other 14 clubs need badly after the absence of fans. The Prem's meeting tomorrow will set the scene. They will equivocate for fear of legal action if they were to penalize the six clubs for playing in the ESL. UEFA will also buckle in the face of legal threats if they try to restrict the clubs and their players. The most worrying news is the increase in the share price of Man Utd and Inter and the fact that JP Morgan is putting up funds. The outbursts of some UEFA suit are puny in comparison, The billionaires behind this have the financial muscle to get what they want. The TV companies will go where the revenue from worldwide audiences take them.I can't believe that deals aren't already in place. This league is inevitable in one form or another. So as often has been the case, West Ham, towards the end of the season is in danger of relegation. Only this time so are 14 other Premier sides and the whole the Football League"

zico 1:14 Tue Apr 20 Hit the nail on the head Don’t know how a salary cap would work but it needs to be considered and wages of players need to be at least halved at the top level
