Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Imagine a PL next season where West Ham, Villa, Everton, Leeds, Newcastle, Wolves & Leicester all have a real chance of the title how more exciting the league will be. What's the betting we'll be pulled into a relegation battle again !! Fans of the so called Super 6 based in England will want a club to support that play in the PL, we'll snap up loads of new fans"

"Just as Brady would prefer 60,000 different fans in the ground every week, these clubs will not care a jot if 40,000 season ticket holders turn their back on the club and never go to another game. Amazing that Boris could actually do the first usual thing of his life and put a stop to this."

"Romfordboy 2:26 Tue Apr 20 I'd assume this was an already planned press ""leak"" to attempt to take the sting out of the opposition and move things along the way they've planned."

"At least one of the ‘big six Premier League clubs is considering whether to WITHDRAW from the European Super League after being taken back by the volume of opposition, including from their own fans. @Lawton_Times via @martynziegler #rmalive"

Ha I’m guessing they didn’t think this may happen BREAKING: Boris Johnson has confirmed he is considering blocking the European Super League with a new law
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"This is simply three yanks throwing their weight around wanting to impose a franchise structure on ""soccer"" dragging along like minded ""investors"" and a prize cսnt. What they fail to understand is that Franchise sport in America has been built upon the collegiate draft process over many years. NBA; NFL; MLS are all fed by Colleges which are competitive but ""grooming juniors"" for the higher leagues. Against that background and infrastructure you can have a competitive ""no relegation league"" as the draft ensures that the best youngsters go to the worst teams (or are bartered away.) What is clear however is that all American sports have outgrown their internal market, hence expansion into the UK and elsewhere with little indication of teams evolving there. In short they have nearly maximised the franchise potential. Football is already a world presence and has been for around a century based on an entirely different competitive model. It is still growing. It doesn't have the need or infrastructure to sustain a franchise league, the time to adapt without serious harm to the product at every level or the inclination to do so. Yes, it is more about money than it has ever been but the premise and infrastructure of the game is entirely different. There are competitive leagues at all levels throughout the world, they are not just structured to feed the big boys, those teams want to do the best they can and, further up the scale, compete at the highest leagues. It is a crock of shit infested by greedy fuckers who want to protect their asset and do not want to earn the right to compete at then highest level. Where there are bullies you need a coat holder so step forward the odious Daniel Levy, sucking up to his American Masters (Remind me where NFL UK are currently camped out)."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Its worth putting this into a wider context. This is not just about football far from it. This is the new globalism, the new economic plan for us. The wealth of the world has been concentrated into the hands of a small number of very powerful people and they are rapidly pulling the ladder up - hence Build Back Better. Millions of our jobs have been outsourced abroad, our heritage, utilities and assets have been sold to anybody who would buy them, leading to massive increases in what we all pay for the essentials (power, shelter, water and heat). You (or your children) will own nothing and be 'happy'. Meanwhile, they have overseen the import of millions of people who have no interest in our nation or its history, culture or society, only what they can take from it. Our children will be probably the first generation for many years that can look forward to a future where they will own less than their parents."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Hermit - I agree, but it's not likely to happen. They will get their way, in some way. Either they will split and start a 'super league' involving the 9th best team in England (!), or they will get spoon-fed a beneficial Champions League format which guarantees them a minimum (but extremely high) income level. If it's the latter, they will remain in the PL. The only way they won't be in the PL is if the split genuinely goes ahead - and even then we'd have to forcibly kick them out (and not just threaten to), because they want to play in both an ESL and the PL."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"I would like to think that the 14 PL clubs at todays meeting will take some very strong action against the six prix. I don't suppose they'll have the guts to throw them out, but perhaps at least hammer them with a large points deduction and massive fines. But all I'm hearing at the moment is that they could remove Buck and Woodward from a couple of comittee's !! FFS, they'll laugh in their faces. By the way, I heard on Sunday night that the PL constitution states that a team cannot remain in the PL if it enters into an unsanctioned competition. If that's so, although I've heard no more of this, then surely it's very easy to dump the six asap."

"The absolute worst case scenario for all this is that the 12 are enticed back with incentives. Let them go or stay, don't bend over for them in any way or you are fucking football up even worse."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"I mean if they do fuck off and the PL bin them off..... then imagine next season 6 teams will genuinly have ambitions to win the league. If there is no VAR too then will be a great season West Ham, Villa, Leeds, Wolves, Everton and Leicester will all be wanting to win the title.....how refreshing is that"

"charleyfarley 1:55 Tue Apr 20 That's about their only way out of this without losing too much face - but they've sown the seeds of doubt in the ranks of the PL and, like the roots of Japanese Knotweed, they won't easily be removed."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"I doubt it will get ""overturned"" by the definition of the term. It may go ahead, or (even more likely) the twelve will make a ""voluntary"" (in reality, forced upon them) decision to ""postpone"" the plan for several years - subject to a review further down the line and a revised Champions League format which benefits them. Their spending power, and social clout, within the sport is unfortunately so high that they will be gifted an opportunity to walk away from the proposal. The cunts. Most wank-stained teenagers holed-up in their bedrooms in China and India, where spending power will be in future, 'supports' one of these cuntish clubs. And the clubs know it - and don't care about being rooted in their community any longer. Stan Kroenke couldn't care less if, in future, Arsenal have more fans in Beijing or Los Angeles than in London (they may already have). He just needs the club he owns to be in Europe's lucrative football market - because that's the market those in China, India, USA and Japan watch. In reality, these clubs can't now lose. They've dipped their toes in the water and discovered that it might be too hot to swim in - for now. But they also know what they might need to put in place in future in order to prevent such opposition. These cunts are unfortunately very influential. The so-called 'big 6' in England have more spending power than the rest of the divisions combined. Unfortunately, Man Utd's annual spending power is almost four times' ours: even when we have a good year. If they don't get it over the line now, they will try again at some point in the future if they remain (greedily) unhappy with a revised Champions League. They are all cunts. Cunts, I tell ya. Cunts."
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Nonsense they were lied to. Signed a contract to sign into the league without knowing what they were doing? I don't think so.

"Napoli have contacted the Super League in order to see if they can join. [Via corrierdellosport] Are we the only Premier League club that hasn't put the boot in on this yet? Iv'e seen Leeds, Everton and Wolves take the piss but nothing from us."

With these six clubs already signed up for a 23 year deal (according to the Mail) I can see them just falling on their face ! Fecking hope so.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Europa Cup would be better if they made it a knockout competition from the off and banned the absurd practice of third place CL losers from automatically qualifying for it.
