Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Disney don't have their own labelled Sports TV station... however they do own Fox Sports and more importantly ESPN... reckon it would be that channel that would be all over this??
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
The cսnt board lauding all the things they shit all over when dragging us without consent to a free stadium. No surprise there.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Broadcasting will not be an issue, they will have someone like Amazon in the wings, that and their own platforms The future of football broadcasting will be direct from the clubs themselves, they already have their own stations Debs I would think trying to ban players within their jurisdiction moving out may constitute restraint of trade, I would think a better route would be banning the signing of players outside theirs and into it The ESL would then become a form of The House Of The Rising Sun I can see that working"

Hopefully its Disney and they’ll mike the referees up. That’ll get the Religious Right in the US with their panties in a knot

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"As Gary Neville said If Man Utd sold it just £1 a game, they have 150 million worldwide fans. If even half of those buy it, that’s £75m every game they play. As Lee Trundle says, they’ll just stream it themselves"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Lee Trundle 3:44 Tue Apr 20 I'm just saying that if the big broadcasters went against it and didn't broadcast it the thing would fall flat, although as you say if Man United broadcast through themselves via steaming to the Far East that probably would make them enough money,"

They'd better just hope that the chosen broadcaster complies with all the required government licencing conditions in the relevant countries.

I would love it if it was Disney. The jokes would write themselves.

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"I bet those wank-stained teenagers, draped in Amazon-bought ""merch"" while sat in their Shanghai bedroom they never leave...are creaming themselves over the thought of a Ryan Mason-led 7th place Spurs hosting a 'super' league game against passionless Arteta's 9th placed Arse. Bring your nan (please, we have spare seats!)...SUPER LEAGUE IS HERE!"
Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Stepney, it sounds like it's completely possible to ban professional football matches not run under the auspices of the FA. Apparently Germany and France already have laws to that effect in their countries. Perhaps that's what Boris means by a legislative ""big bomb."""

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"The one group who could stop this in it's tracks is the broadcasters., If Sky, Amazon, BT, Netflix et all stated categorically that they were in now way going to be involved with the Super League then without any broadcaster of games the thing would fall flat on it's face. It's all very well though for Sky to have the likes of Neville and Carragher damning it, and putting out a brief statement from Sky themselves but that means nothing of course when it comes to money. You would also have to think that the breakaway Clubs wouldn't be outlining their intent without themselves having guarantees from broadcasters who will be contracted to broadcast the thing. If Sky for instance did an about turn and covered it would those pundits jump ship or stay?"

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
Chelsea fans own Stanford Bridge and the Chelsea FC name. Hopefully they’ll come out and refuse use of both in the ESL

"Pep said something like ""it's not a sport when there is no risk of relegation"". otherwise he's sat on the fence and said he wont say much until he has all the details."
