Football Super league rumours yet again !!

Post ted fenton »

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"I'm no fan of our board - but that statement is OK. It's a clear indication of where 'we' stand: opposed to the plan. It's probably for over-arching organisations, such as the Premier League and FA etc to start threatening the breakaway six - not us. We can't really do that, because we can't impose any sanctions. Others can. I just hope all 14 remaining clubs make a firm statement against the plan and vow never to join. Mind you, when the likes of Sullivan, Gold and Brady are lecturing the break-aways about loyalty and morality...you know the world has turned upside down..."

Crassus 4:33 Tue Apr 20 I would suspect PL club rules now require the JPM 6 to be given time to respond to the request to desist in forming the breakaway league. Instant retribution may not be in the PL arsenal.

"Block 4:31 Tue Apr 20 The Realpolitik is that the Premier League 'brand' is more valuable if it includes the 'Big Six'. The Premier League is thinking about its own survival here - it is not acting in the interest of fans. In this context, the statement, as Mike says, is clear and unequivocal but in a way that keeps it slightly above the fray."

Rossal 4:32 Tue Apr 20 Yeah like UEFA and the PL have shit lawyers and have left gaping holes in their rules and regulations that allow clubs to just do what they want whenever.

"What a load of passive bollox that was, replete with the buzz word salad Community Stake Holder Share Holder Lemons one and all, should have rolled up their sleeves and come out swinging, issuing a demand for retraction set to time frame or suffer every sanction available"

"These clubs (mainly City) have the best legal people in the world working for them Do you think theyd risk the league title and announce their involvement with 6 games to go unless they were sure the PL can pretty much do fuck all about it As i said, theyve built these monsters and been happy watching them evolve as it filled their pockets.....now they are rebelling and off to line someone elses and the PL are crying.....too little too late"

"Not as blunt as that, KZ. They're being political about it. This isn't a time to be political - The clubs need to be punished and niceties go out the window."

"Dandy Lyon 4:23 Tue Apr 20 If you think that statement says nothing, you'd better pay far more attention when your school reopens and you can attend English lessons in a real classroom again. It's a clear line in the sand and indicates that the PL understands it's own rules."

"That statement is absolutely shocking. They should be giving it fucking big ones to the clubs involved, stating if they do not cease from going to said league, they face punishment including relegation, fines etc."

"It's gone from European Super League to now just Super League. Precisely. Allows clubs to relocate, so Toon to Saudi and of course famous Brit Beckham to make a nice killing with his Inter Miami failure."

"Half of the N.London golden hello should automatically be returned to the government, paying off the money they were so eager to take last year crying poverty. Might I suggest two ideas to cut some costs; improve your due diligence for manager hires so you don't need to then pay them off when you fire them, or cut back on expensive vanity loan signings."
