Football Super league rumours yet again !!

"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

This is great to watch crumble so fast. I’m hoping UEFA ban everyone that was involved from all football events.

Though we might dislike the big six clubs for their greedy intentions it is as well to remember that there was almost unanimous condemnation of the idea by the fans of said clubs.

Has there ever been a points deduction for a club bringing the game into disrepute? (I'm struggling to find another label for what they've done).

Yes Pat Nevin was edging his bets and was really embarrassing. Just didn't want that door to be closed to him at Chelsea on match days. while Gary Neville stepped up straight away in the first hour.

Whether they pull out or not every club involved needs to be punished. If they get away without punishment all they’ll do is start planning for the next attempt to fill their pockets a few years down the line.

"I said below that the Septics would likely bleed their clubs dry then fuck off - good ParadiseLost 9:35 Tue Apr 20 I disagree mate, it may deter the Yanks but as a brand, the PL is known for massive and fanatical supporter bases, this will have reinforced its USP Granted, a yank chancer may well give it a swerve but those on an ego trip wanting a piece of image may well jump on And I do hope the financiers have some punitive clauses within their contract, it will be wonderful to see"

"Smirking aside, perhaps they suddenly realised that, despite all the glossy JPM You'll-be-fine-we've-got-our-lawyers-on-it PowerPoint presentations, the PL actually did have the power to expel them."
