"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

Man City and Chelsea were late to the party then realised the the Hors d'oeuvre were not caviar but just the normal prawn sandwiches so left.

"'The scene at Stamford Bridge was electric' Independent journalist Miguel Delaney on BBC Radio 5 Live: ""I was outside Stamford Bridge, ready to take a picture of the protests, and a massive clear went up as if a goal had been scored. I was wondering what had been happened and then I got a message. The scene was as electric as any goal that has been scored. Ultimately it is what football is about and that community spirit and celebration. It was electric."""

"The instigators of this proposal totally underestimated the the likelihood of opprobrium from football fans in Europe. Especially the hugely negative reaction of fans of the clubs proposing. They will go away lick their wounds and try again and again. The fact that the product, European inter league football, is most definitely second fiddle to major domestic league competition is writ large now and for the immediate future."

Chelsea fans have some front... dancing around with banners like ‘no honour’ and ‘money ruining the game’. Ditto City fans going all ‘power to the people’.

"Wonder if Chelsea and City in joining late hadn’t signed the paperwork. By now withdrawing they’ve no problems, but those who joined earlier had completed the paperwork and now have issues getting out. If that was the case it would be pure genius."

"Agnelli made the Serie A clubs angry with his answer, during the Serie A meeting. Serie A clubs:""With 350 million available every year, the Scudetto will always be won by Juve, Milan and Inter."" Agnelli:""It's been like this for 80 years , if I'm not mistaken."" [LaRepubblica]"

"Silence from Arse Yids and Dippers. per the BBC, it' not clear how binding any contractual agreements are, and Chelsea and City joined late on, so hopefully the others are mired in legal hell over this."

Well that didn't last long. I'd like to know what the fucks the clubs involved were thinking? What else did they expect to happen? Just goes to show that the people who own and run the rich clubs live in a parallel universe.
