Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all agree to plan. Five English clubs are among 11 European teams who have signed up to a breakaway Super League in an extraordinary development on the eve of Uefa's announcement of a new Champions League format. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/18/sports/soccer/super-league-united-liverpool-juventus-madrid.html"

"The punishment MUST match the (potential) crime. They were prepared, on a totally voluntary basis, to forego all CL money for 23 years and deny the CL their presence for the same amount of time. Seems fair to me that figure and status stands. They were prepared to deny each of the other 14 PL teams European football for 23 years - again, they felt that length of time fully appropriate, who am I to argue. No need for any additional fines - not being on the TV screens across China, India, SE Asia for a whole generation will be enough."

I’m pissed off this isn’t happening. The rest of football would have got on just fine - in fact would be better off without them. Tottenham are fucked. How did he think he was ever going to get the billion quid he invested in that vanity project of a stadium back.

"Euro suspension and then the next 'x' teams would be my preferred outcome Leicester, WHU, Everton and Leeds / Villa in the Champs League Wolves and Palace / Southampton / Villa in the Euros That is a very selfish WHU perspective but our capacity to keep Rice, get Lingard and make 1-2 key signings in weaker areas would give us a chance to make that leap and it also applies to all the other clubs Hope it follows suit in Spain and Italy too... FINGERS CROSSED"

"Spurs in heavy debt is music to my ears. No champions league this season and that surely means Kane, son etc will be off. Depends on who their next manager is but this could be the end of the 'put the pressure on era' over there."

"Bug clubs so no likely action but when you remember the uproar over the Snodie contract, and the conversations between us and Albion it does make you wonder. These english 6 clubs colluded together and had secret discussions that were to the detriment of the other Premiership teams. That collusion is certainly worth a fine or deductions. I’d argue that there’s been no victory yet. There needs to be some action. Some kind of very large probationary fine, just in case these clubs try going down the same route again anytime soon would also make sense. If this was us the cries for point deductions, relegation and huge fines would be on the back page of every red top."

Re: Football Super league rumours yet again !!
"If a punishment is to mean anything, then it has got to be European bans and/or league points deductions. Fines won't worry these clubs. That said, I'm not sure what the legal or 'regulatory' basis for such action would be. It will all depend on what's in the PL, Serie A, La Liga and CL contracts. People like Gary Twitteker will no doubt argue that the clubs shouldn't be docked points - ""because that will only punish the players and managers, and they had nothing to do with it"". But I disagree. I think if the leagues and UEFA can impose big points deductions, they should. If you show the owners of these clubs - and the managers and players - that the clubs will be severely punished when they pull these greedy stunts, then the owners will be unlikely to cheese off their players/managers and fans in quite the same way again. Dock them points - and let owners explain to the likes of Klopp why his team won't be in the Champions League next year."

"Does anyone legitimately foresee any penalties / fines / points deductions? On another note, don’t mind Brighton as a club after tonight #coyi"

"I hope this, once and for all, settles the often-regurgitated shite about how the so-called finance experts and business brains behind these clubs are barnstormingly incredible at their jobs and earn every penny of their huge salaries. Make no mistake, this was a catastrophic failure to take the pulse of the sport they are so desperate to entirely dominate without opposition. A hopeless punt and power grab. And they got smacked down in less than 48 hours by fans, rival clubs and their own staff. This was the football business equivalent of Mark Thatcher's Equatorial Guinea coup. Tossers."

Losing a 3 goal lead v West Ham was the most embarrassing thing to happen to Spurs this season. Dinamo Zagreb manager: Hold my one prison phone call. Okay losing to Dinamo Zagreb was. Dulux: Hold my paint. Okay. Bantered by a paint sponsor was! Sack manager 6 days before a cup final European Super League: join and leave within 48 hours And we think West Ham is a comedy club

"Don’t kid yourself that uefa have paid them off, if they had that that sort of money then the ESL wouldn’t have been a thing. The players brought this down not the fans. END OF"

"Any money paid out won’t cover this: Tottenham Hotspur possess more debt than any other European club, according to analysis from football finance expert Kieran Maguire, although much of it is a result of long-term borrowing linked to their new stadium. Maguire's analysis indicates that Spurs' total debt comes out at about £1.77billion, with Barcelona second on £1.03billion."
