That said, I'm not sure what the legal or 'regulatory' basis for such action would be. It will all depend on what's in the PL, Serie A, La Liga and CL contracts. People like Gary Twitteker will no doubt argue that the clubs shouldn't be docked points - ""because that will only punish the players and managers, and they had nothing to do with it"". But I disagree. I think if the leagues and UEFA can impose big points deductions, they should. If you show the owners of these clubs - and the managers and players - that the clubs will be severely punished when they pull these greedy stunts, then the owners will be unlikely to cheese off their players/managers and fans in quite the same way again. Dock them points - and let owners explain to the likes of Klopp why his team won't be in the Champions League next year."
