"Another hat-trick, this time against Fulham in the PL U18 Cup. Poxy camera angle, but worth watching for his brilliant third goal. Early days, but this lad could be a potential superstar https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tddKySeAWDA"

"I hope you're right, Faux. If he does well maybe Moyes might sit up and take some notice. Great experience for him too."

"Pdbis- their third was offside but thought we were caught every time from their counter attacks, we looked to casual."

"Another two goals for him tonight against Southampton u21s in 3-3 draw. Two of their goals were clearly offside and the officials were awful, especially the referee."

"Surely the one hope we have is Mark Noble He keeps a watchful eye over the youth, rather him than Moyes who wouldn't know a decent youth player in a million years"

"Trunds - Kodua was captain of the U18s last year. He and Marshall, Orford, Scarles and Earthy have all moved up to the U21s for this season. I'm pretty sure Casey was already there, so has some seniority over Kodua."

I see that Carey is captain now instead of Kodua. I wonder why they've changed that?

"Agreed, Earthy Potts and Orford also look good IMO its just up to the club to push them on and give them a chance. In recent years too many of the great youngsters have had their pathways blocked by shit over paid first teamers. Just because they never went on to do great elsewhere doesnt mean they couldnt of made it here had we managed it better"

"The highlights of the U21 win against Bristol Rovers are now on the OS - Marshall scores another decent goal and a penalty. Marshall definitely has something about him, but then so did Freddie Sears at this stage of his career but he couldn't cut it in the PL. Hopefully this lad can push on. Scarles is another who looks like he could make it, along with Kodua, who I think will be the best of the bunch."

My brief look at him in the FA Youth Cup reminded me more of a Bowen type cutting in from wide rather than an out and out centre forward. Not small but quite lightweight as you'd expect from a 17/18yo Definitely an eye for goal though and a natural finisher

"Yeah we had that really talented u21 crop a few years back which all mainly went elsewhere. This lot look like they could be even better. We can't let the same mistakes happen again, they need to be sent on beneficial loans.... not loans to shit clubs struggling Bringing through these lads could work out financially very well for us in a few years time"

"Obviously there is a 3 yr gap between U18 & U21 but good to see a lot of the names from last years U18's are first choices at U21 level presumably playing against boys who might be 2 or 3 years older or any age in games like Bristol Rovers Had a slow start at Arsenal on Day 1 (0-3) but since then its been Sunderland 2-0 (Marshall) Leeds 5-2 (Marshall 3) Everton 3-1 (Marshall pen) Bristol Rovers 3-1 (Marshall 2 , 1 pen) They also played Celtic in that international cup and he scored 2 more in a 5-0 win Was billed as Celtic U23's as well I think so some might be 4 years older than our boys"

"WHUDeano 4:03 Wed Sep 20 Watched him against Dag & Redbridge pre season and he struggled physically. Did ok, but that was about it. Needs to bulk out a bit like Mubamba. Certainly one to watch though Think the LW last night was Scarles who has played for the first team at LB. Has been impressive every time I have seen him"

"Keep seeing this lads name on the scoresheet, anyone on here seen him play much? What sort of striker is he? Seems to average a goal a game and already has international honours, which is very impressive despite it only being a Northern Ireland side that would probably give Jimmy Quinn a start if he made himself available. Obviously Mubama is currently considered the best forward prospect at the club by the management, but still would have hope to see him on or around the bench this season. Can't do be any worse than Ings surely."

This boys absolutely outstanding. According to the long term whufc watchers he's the best since cottee and Defoe . He won't fall because of his father either. Clarion will make sure he's grounded. I'd have him on the bench at least tomorrow night .

I am with El Scorhio on this. Both Rice (first spell) and Johnson have come through under Moyes. How many kids have not been given a chance under him and gone on to to anything elsewhere? There is a massive gap between looking good in the youth team and the Premier League. People were calling for Mipo to play in the first team two years ago.

"Trundle - agreed. However, although I think Perkins will have a decent career, I'm not convinced he'll pull up any trees in the prem. Longelo has loads of potential so it's going to be interesting to see how he does at Birmingham. No idea why he hasn't been out on loan before, but I am glad we didn't sell him. As for Marshall, he looks like an exciting prospect and I would think he ought to be promoted to the U21s."

"""Have any of the players let go actually amounted to anything?"" It's the lack of chances they get given, that pisses me off. You'd have thought that finishing 2nd to the best academy in the world last season that some might something about them. Perkins and Longelo should have been given a chance to see what they could do during times last season when we were struggling with no left back and no striker in the team. Especially when Moyes decided not to strengthen either position over the January transfer window."
