Job done. Solid performance. I expected more from them but I think we neutralised any threat they had. Can't recall alot more as had four Madri's before the game. Don't remember too much.

Very good solid performance played some decent football But surprised he didn’t rest players and make subs a bit earlier but il sure if we don’t play well Sunday you’ll hear how tired all the players are but probably no mention of him not using the bench to his advantage.

"I enjoyed the match last night, much better for my blood pressure! Agree with those that think we will still need to up the pace Sunday against Wolves, but last night didn't seem to overly stretch us to achieve a comfortable win. So maybe we can do that. I thought our full backs played well but unlike Sir Alf I didn't see a back three. Anyone else see a back three? I thought Alvarez and Souceck both provided good cover when either (and sometimes both) Coufal and Emmerson pushed forward and when they didn't they (particularly Alvarez ) were getting into good positions higher up- thus Alvarez's excellent goal."

"Wils 12.34, we’ve grown up with the tradition of the fans leading the way regarding songs and celebrations. And this makes for greater spontaneity and innovation. Playing something celebratory is an attempt to guide/lead the fans, something imposed upon us. Not right at all. The worst example of music leading the fans was at an ice hockey match in Chicago. I felt like strangling the organist."

Was shocked how poor Freiburg were they didn't look up for it at all seeing how crucial the match was. As they say you can only beat what is in front of you and we done that with ease so we'll done all.

""". Almost impossible to wind them up as they just kept chanting. ....Credit where credit’s due."" I find those choreographed fan displays by the European clubs a bit cringe. Superficially it look impressive but it's coordinated and they dutifully do what they are told by leaders. I much prefer the spontaneity of English fans even if it means we are quieter. One thing starting to happen in the Championship clubs is Goal music. They play a little ditty every time the home team scores like Basketball in the USA. I will be very tempted to cancel my season ticket if that spreads into the Premier league."

The Krauts are an odd bunch but did get at it all match. Almost impossible to wind them up as they just kept chanting. The only time they seemed riled was immediately after the second goal but they just went back to chanting. Credit where credit’s due.

"They gave us more time and space than a Prem team but equally we pressed them better which they did not seem to cope with as they were guilty of a lot of misplaced passes. They resembled us in the Premiership in many ways. The Premiership is more intense, less time given in the ball and the physicality is higher. But when Alvarez was on we looked decent and I thought the 3 at the back helped. So got to give the manager some credit as it helped release Emerson and Coufal to get up and down a bit more ( play as wing backs ). Agree with Manuel that Bowen is far less effective as a central striker. Kudus was outstanding until tiring after 60 mins or so. Alvarez was our best player when on the pitch and Emerson is becoming key too. Fabianski made a few key saves, the back 3 were tidy. JWP was busy too and full of industry. The main negative, aside from the lack of proper central striker, is the sacrifice of Paqueta on the left to accommodate Soucek. If Cornet is off ( seems so evidenced by him being ostracised by Moyes ) we have no left sided midfielder. And in Soucek, he was ok for the most part in possession because we had a lot of the ball and he did the simple things well but still guilty of a few passes to no one and getting caught in possession. He’s not quick enough for the Premiership and never will be plus his passing and control in the league will always be a problem imho Steidten has hopefully prioritised a central striker, a wide left midfielder and another central midfielder. Coufal RWB position would be another to look at longer term but he’s doing ok. If we get quality for tgeee position as Steidten managed with Kudus and Alvarez ( the Greek fella jury still out ) we would have a top six team potentially. Getting the best from it though would imo certainly need a change of coach. Anyway, fair play to Moyes though he got us thru and avoided extra games."

"It's amazing what can happen when you try to win a game, and don't play 11 at the back and hope for the best. We played some lovely stuff at times. Fair play to the German fans as well. Didn't stop all night."

"I was thinking we were going to play for a dour draw, how wrong was I. Overall a really good performance, dominating the ball, some nicely worked goals onwards and upwards. The German crowd were lively, they really brought some atmosphere to game even though Freiburg were a bit of the pace. Doan was there major threat and was largely trying to exploit our left side.. Happy for the win a good night out."

Was pleasantly surprised at how ordinary the Germans were but hopefully that was down to us putting them under pressure. Expecting a far harder game but was a walk in the park Good stuff!

"Nagel 10:13 Fri Dec 15 A very good performance but it's interesting you say that about the opposition. I felt they really underperformed and allowed us to set the tempo - at least until we made changes. I can't work out if they were, indeed, Championship level or whether they had a very bad day at the office (twice). Barring the games against us, their record in this group was much better than ours"

"Really good performance and result, but let's face it, that was against a Championship level team who needed to win the match. If they were any better or had decided to park the bus like most lower level teams do against superior opposition then it probably would have been very different."

"The team played and pressed really well and achieved a great result, even managing to look like they enjoyed playing the game. Moyes would do well to remember but I think we’ve been at this point many times before, enjoy it while we can, going to miss our European games for a few months."

Europa league football should help with recruitment come January….. Now we want to go out and beat Liverpool next week. That’ll really shut the doubters up.
