"It's absolutely no wonder a baggage handler cannot direct and focus a question at the intended audience. That is you, isn't it? You claimed with a fair degree of pride previously that you are in the airline industry. Due yet another strike, are you not?"

"It’s absolutely no wonder she left you. I’m not in charge of the site so whoever is, if they wanted to raise money I’m sure most would throw in a few quid. If you’re stuck I’ll pay your share."

Why don’t you set up a pay pal and anyone who wants to can bang a fiver or a tenner in. And use that for whatever upgrades are needed

"North Bank You're a nice chap, but your description of the adverts debacle that took place on here is somewhat disingenuous. The complaint some of us had was that we were getting pop ups that were pornographic, advertising porn sites. Then we were gaslighted (gaslit?) by the site owners, telling us first that this was not happening, and then afterwards that it was our own fault for 'looking at porn websites and being targeted by an algorithm because of that'. I know without a shadow of a doubt that my computer/phone was only able to be accessed by me and I did not/do not visit porn sites. Several other posters explained that they were getting porn pop-ups on their work devices on which they had not accessed porn for obvious reasons. The owners refused to acknowledge that whichever company they were using to get adverts on the site was responsible for the porn pop-ups. THAT is why we gave you grief, not because you wanted to make a few quid (which none of us begrudged you) I say this as someone who has always told other posters to quit moaning about the slowness and ancient design of the site (because it is given to us for free) But the porn stuff couldn't go on. It could have got people into trouble with their employers."

"Branded who are these ""owners"", maybe the site is so slow is that any funds needed to move the site onto a different platform went up in smoke whe all and sundry were moaning about the ads that the ""owners"" had the temerity to enforce on the entitled posters. This site is kept on due to some romantic notion that it gives West Ham supporters a free platform to voice their opinions and not hide behind paywalls or subscriptions. I've been on this site since its inception and am now of the same opinion that Alex had when he washed his hands of it. Anyone interested Whomail me"

"Swiss. 4:36 Sun Aug 13 This site runs on MySQL which is OK but has a replacement, MariaDb which is excellent and also still free.. Oracle is bloody expensive if you want performance (we just moved off it at work and saved a fortune).. I did offer to help out but, from what I remember, nobody knows how to access the server(s) any more."

"This site is littered with posters quite prepared to tell others how to set the site up, but equally unprepared to do the actual work, as that would be below their rank and status in society."

Why is this site as slow as Boltkunts brain recently? MS SQL server is shit. Replace it with Oracle or DB2. Get a decent DBA in the clear the cache and index the database. I’m sure there’s enough money to fund one.

Somewhere in cyberspace there is an unloved MySQL database server that hasn't been patched for years. No wonder it has a tantrum now and then. PHP was old hat when I started web developement at the turn of the millenium. I bet whoever wrote the site never imagined it would still be staggering on after all these years. Quite a feat really.
