"To say I’m disappointed with our prospective signings would be an understatement. To those who say I’m deluded, I would ask why? For a club of our size and one who has European football next season, one of the richer clubs in the world and one that has sold 55,000 season tickets why do some supporters still insist on seeing us a small club that shouldn’t expect anything other than fighting relegation."

"JWP will be decent short/med term. He's got a few qualities we need, and I'd like to think he's the Soucek replacement. Just hope to fuck he's not a Paqueta replacement..... But I agree with those saying this is a short term/short sighted move, when all is said and done."

"Manuel 2:03 Wed Aug 9 Exactly, we need pace. It seems we have the slowest and oldest team in PL well suited for Moyesball. It's early days but I can't help thinking of Rio F and Christian Dailly."

"On a positive side … they will both improve the current squad as it’s thin on numbers and quality. 2 characters who will get respect and hopefully will lift what from the outside seems a despondent group. We all hoped for younger, more dynamic players but it appears Moyes has got his way. He will either live or die by his decisions and can’t claim the club haven’t back him. It does feel a little like the Rice money will be wasted in the long run."

Direct free kick goals since 2016/17 West Ham - 6 Ward Prowse - 16 I'm largely uninspired by this signing but if we're sticking with Moyes it makes perfect sense. Southampton supporters seem to have nothing but good things to say about him too.

"Danish - Wouldn't disagree mate, but at least they are all first team players, so one first teamer out and three in, so could argue we have improved the side. IF we could bring in one or two pacey talented players then it could be looking pretty good, but that's a big if, sadly."

"Happy with Mexican Rice, more so because the likes of Dortmund wanted him which is normally a good indication. The other 2 are the most uninspiring, utterly expensive, signings we could have possibly made for Moyes to have his type of players brought to the club. My only hope is that they don't turn out to be expensive mistakes, and do improve our results in the league. They won't improve the way we play."

"Moyes utterly despises West Ham United fans and he will be pissing his pants off getting his own way. So effectively we've got the Mexican, Slabhead and the golfer for the Rice money? Anyone happy with that?"

"Ward-Prowse is a classic Moyes midfielder - does a bit of everything but, in open play, not a master of anything. But he does bring superb dead-ball skills - which will be worth several goals and points per season if he stays fit - and some extra leadership. He's a decent player, and a bit of a replacement for Noble. God knows if the fee is worthwhile - impossible to judge transfer fees these days. Looks like a midfield trio of Alvarez, Paqueta and Ward-Prowse."

Southampton are dictating when he'll be sold. They want to play him against Norwich on Saturday before he's sold.
