"Deal agreed, 30M According to Talksport. Welcome to West Ham."
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
LJC 6:31 Thu Aug 10 Sounds like they are dithering again although that site does seem to put 2 and 2 together and make 5
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
"""We sort of had that model in lockdown and the next season."" It worked for us then because teams weren't doing much pressing. Presumably this was because they were trying to conserve energy because of the congested fixture list and not having crowds on their back wanting their team to immediately regain possession. That worked perfectly for us then, but now teams just counter press us as soon as we get the ball back in our own half and we don't really have the players to cope with that. Sadly JWP isn't the solution to that problem."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
"I used to have hope that Moyes was copying Diego Simone at Ateltico. A team that would sit back and defend well but would kill you on the transition. We sort of had that model in lockdown and the next season. But that style is actually more flair based than people give Simione credit for. All the players had great close control, very skilful on the ball. Even when playing defensively they played the ball out of danger, no hoofing up the pitch stuff. I just think Moyes has missed that part of that strategy. Thats why it's sad to see how ball playing footballers get marginalised here at West Ham. It's so sad. If Paqueta goes then thats pretty much it. There will be no one who you can trust to start for us week in and week out that can actually beat a man one on one. A West Ham team that doesn't have a proper flair player as a 1st team start is really not a West Ham team. I'm hoping I'm wrong an Alvarez galvanises the team and either we drop Soucek or he starts actually playing football."

"Pace is our biggest issue, has been for a while and I can’t quite get my head around why the manager can’t see it, so important nowadays. We can’t play 5 at the back, under him it’s to defensive. It’s fine if we are prepared to play it like Brighton did or Brentford even but we won’t. We need to sign a quick right back that’ll help for starters, and get some extra pace out wide (we should have signed Barnes) and obviously the centre forward has to be quick, like Craig Bellamy quick. Fab New RB Zouma Maguire Emerson JWP Alvarez Paqueta (hopefully) Bowen New CF New winger"
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
"JWP actually played a few games as a No 10 last season, and quite a few Soton fans thought he was better there than when he played deeper, so wouldn't be a massive surprise if Moyes played him ahead of Alvarez and Soucek in a 4231, if Paqueta aint playing."

"Vexed You'll be pleased to know that if Maguire, Alvarez JWP plays it means Benny gets dropped... as Moyes will ay 532 with Bowen and Antonio/Mubama up top..."

"Vexed Who does he need to drop? If Paqueta really wants to go and we get our paper work sorted in the next couple days I can see this on Saturday: keeper Zouma, Maguire, Aguerd Kehrer Emerson Alvarez JWP Soucek Antonio Bowen"
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
I can't fathom how Moyes is missing how slow we are. The bloke is a clueless fucking cսnt and the best thing we can hope for is that he has a coronary before he's allowed to spend the Paqueta money.

"Anybody who thinks we're going to sign JWP - then not play Soucek is living in cloud cuckoo land. The only way we're going to be able to play - With Maguire / Soucek in the team - is to be super direct. Win set pieces high up the pitch, then bombard the box with crosses. Basically bypass midfield - It is virtually impossible to play through the lines with Soucek on the pitch. He slows everything down and constantly gives the ball away. Apparently Moyes doesn't see the things we do. JWP is just a tidy midfielder with high energy. His set pieces will be a massive part of our game plan this season while Moyes is still in charge."

Rossal Alvarez's pace is not his standout attribute either. If Paqueta goes we really need some in there with his replacement. And either way on the wings and up front.
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
We were already the slowest team before signing JWP and Maguire. Now we seriously lack pace throughout the team assuming JWP and Soucek start sat. For a team set up for a low block and hit on the counter you'd think pace to actually do that would be at the forefront of thinking.........but no not dinosaur Dave

The other issue is who is actually going to be coaching our set pieces if it's Nolan I can't see it being a success

Most Southampton fans think that JWP is a bit slow and needs a dynamic player around him to cover up his lack of dynamic play. Which is a worry especially given our old cloggers in defence. It will be interesting too see how many chances we give up on the counter attack from our own set pieces this season.

JWP and Alvarez are two decent signings if we keep Paqueta and play them as the midfield 3. For me that could even be potential improvement on last season as it would demote (hopefully) Soucek to the bench. I'd take that but all rests on Paqueta.

"You've just answered your own fucking question. In an ideal world, most of us wouldn't want these signings. However, Moyes is our manager, I fucking hate the fact he is, but whilst he is, these 2 are about as good as it gets. Nothing would have given me greater pleasure than for him to have been fucked off 10 months ago."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe)
Why isn't anyone else in for him? Thats the problem I have with this and McGuire. If they are so good and value for money there are plenty of other PL clubs that have 30m to spend on each. I think our boss values players that no one else does. No one has come in for Soucek yet he played more minutes for us than anyone else bar Rice. Many teams have played better football than us over the last 18 months in the league. Instead of going with the flow and playing like everyone else does ( fluid possession etc..) we are setting ourselves up to be the team that plays differently to everyone else in the league. Hoping that our unusual style baffles everyone and gets points. odd choice imho.

"anyone we sign i will always give a clean state until proven otherwise , im actually very please with this signing , teams are going to absolutely fear our set pieces , soucek , maguire , zouma and aguerd attacking corners and freekicks. can easily see us breaking records for most set piece goals"
