"JWP is a positive for me. But I doubt he is for Moyes because JWP brings a problem. And that's Soucek. Once JWP is in it gives us: Alvarez Paqueta JWP Soucek Fornals Downes Paqueta a shoe in. Alvarez will also be once he's settled. That leaves one space for Downes, Soucek and JWP. Moyes will want JWP in for his dead balls (as Moyes seems incapable of setting us up to create many chances from open play). But he will also want Soucek on the end of these dead balls. Downes won't get a look in. So what does Moyes do? He could revert to a 4 where he plays: Soucek Alavarez JWP Paqueta But then that upsets the wide players. Or does he go with Fornals in advanced role and drop Paqueta back? JWP raises a few questions."

"scouse kid 10:48 Mon Aug 14 It's only in the last 3 years that he's really started getting more goals from free kicks. Whether he's improved at them or his team just started winning more free kicks in the right areas I don't know. He also got 4 goals from open play last season. If he takes penalties for us too then anything below 10 goals will be a disappointment I reckon, especially as I don't see him bringing too much other qualities to the team that a different player might have done."

"Decent player From the outside looking in, this is a Club that has been on the rise for a number of years now and coming off the success in the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, you can feel there is real momentum around this Club. It’s great to be a part of it and I can’t wait to play my role in the games to come. I wonder what he'll think when he sees us from the inside?"

As a dead ball specialist our goal kicks will be accurate. As Moyesball rarely crosses the halfway line he will have fuck all to do in the opposition half. Welcome to hell son.

"Can't be unhappy with this, he's a solid PL player in about his prime, and when we get a free kick within range we can be hopeful, it's not that's often we can say that."

The clubs Facebook has just put a teaser video up “stepping up to the tee” with someone putting a golf ball down. The golf swing is his celebration. Expect it’ll be announced any minute. Either that or we’ve resigned Craig Bellamy.

"As much as I am excited about the JWP signing I struggle to see his motivation in joining us. I'm not for one minute moaning about it because I think on his day he is a quality player and someone I would want standing over a free kick 20 yards out. However a small part of me wonders what his motivation is for coming here, I'm sure he getting paid a tidy sum but he was pretty much God at Southampton, supported them as a boy, captaining his club etc so he must be leaving with a heavy heart. It would be like Noble leaving us to go a middle of the road Premier league club when we got relegated. I have no doubt he will be professional and repay the faith shown in him, I just can't help but think are we getting the all engine, all foot in JWP. I can see motivation for Alverez, new league, chance to prove himself in the big league, Maguire would surely be motivated to get back into the England squad on merit and ram criticism down the throats of man utd fans and Erik Ten Hag. But welcome JWP and I hope we see the best in him."

Ward Prowse has only managed 10 goals in a premier league season once. He has 42 goals in his last 6 League seasons. So I'll go with 7 this season. Think JWP will probably be our most successful signing this season however

He will be announced today surely? No to see if Moyes will put him on free kicks or Soucek.
