"Fifth - Similar to Noble maybe, but I would put him a level above him. Scores more goals, plays for England. He's better than Noble."

Based on comments from Soton fans being that he's technically good and obvs great on set pieces but tends to slow down attacks and pass sideways... he's basically Noble but better on set pieces.

"Welcome JWP. Seems like a good bloke and can play a bit. Gives us a bit of help where we need it and still a few years left at 28. Hope he knows what he’s getting himself into. BUT. Aside from set pieces and being solid and steady, not sure this is really what we need. Strikes me as more workmanlike than dynamic. Fuck knows who may or may not be leaving and what our midfield ends up looking like at this point. I guess Downes is as good as gone. Paqueta?"

"Welcome JWP A good player and welcome addition, but I do worry that his signing will mean we're going to double down on being Set-Piece FC. Also hope people aren't expecting an open play passing wizard here and then get on his back when it doesn't happen. He mostly makes short passes. He averages a third of completed long passes than Rice completes. I would also expect if Benny is playing that he takes the penalties as JWP misses 1 in 4. So maybe his goals score might be a little down too."

About time! Hopefully moyes is stripped of his involvement in transfers now but whoever is in charge they had better get a move on as plenty of others are out there looking for players now. Welcome JWP!

"Russ - Yep, assuming he keeps potato head in (very likely) then it's a bit crowded in there, would also have to assume he can't then go with a back 3 as that would only leave room for 2 more players.."
