James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"Deal agreed, 30M According to Talksport. Welcome to West Ham."

stewie griffin 5:20 Mon Aug 14 Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally) He's mostly a short ball passer. Completes about a third (1.7 per game) less of long ball passes than Rice did (4.4 per game). Also completes less short ball passes than Rice did and his pass completion rates are lower too (both long and short).

Welcome Jimmy Give him a striker to hit and some pace to protect us defensively and he can be in Europe with us for the next few years.
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"For some reason I thought he was 31. At 28, I like this deal a bit more. If he can keep up his production averages for the past 3 years, he will lead the team in scoring which is both good and sad for us."

"Griff - he also has to learn ""that"" look and raised arm of apology from our defenders and midfielders, when they overhit another channel punt that Antonio, with no team-mate within 30 metres of him, chases hopelessly into a dark corner of the pitch..."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"A quality footballer with an excellent range of passing to go with the set piece excellence. Lacks pace & physicality which hopefully the Mexican fellow can make up for. Not sure how good he is at hopelessly punting the ball into space, but we’ll soon find out."

"JWP said on one of the WHU YouTube channel videos that being number 7 doesn't mean he'll be on the wing, and laughs. Step forward Dave."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"Reading a Saints' fan's comment, he says that JWP has been briefed to play more sideways cautiously in recent seasons, but in earlier seasons he always liked looking for the forward pass, so hopefully he'll rebel over his instructions from Moyes."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"Not overly excited by this signing but I can see why Moyes would want him. Last season we were saying that some of the signings were pointless because they don’t suit the criteria of what Moyes likes in a player so at least with JWP and possibly Maguire these are signings that at least make sense from a tactical/system point of view. With the loss of Noble last year and Rice & Cresswell this year, it’s important we get some more British players and some leadership in the team so hopefully this will be another positive as well."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"Exactly. No-one is saying he;s not good enough or anything at all. There is appreciation for what he brings, but then a couple of concerns over what we as a team are still missing. Ultimately JWP will be made by who he is actually a replacement for. (Rice aside) If it's anyone but Paqueta, then we're looking decent. If it's Paqueta, then not so good."

Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"Nick Like Lee said - I don't see anyone turning their noses up at him. There are some reasonable assessments of pros and cons eg he slows play down, not very ""Progressive"" but also he's clearly an upgrade on Soucek, great set pieces and brings leadership. Like an improved version of Noble. This is largely a website of middle aged blokes. We don't tend to get over excited about players as if we were 13 year olds."

"Yep, decent player who improves us. Also brings some extra leadership, which we desperately need. I'm good with this. Hard to tell if the fee represents ""value"" as all fees are mental these days."

"I've just gone through the last 3 pages (I dare not go any further with the speed of this site), and I've not seen a single poster turn their noses up to him?"
Re: James Ward Prowse - West Ham United Captain (Maybe) Signed (finally)
"It's fucking hilarious some people are sticking their noses up to JWP. Similarly with Gallagher. Much, much better than what we've got in the middle of the park, Paquetta aside."
