Max Kilman
This lad is a real problem.
At £40mil, it's getting to the point of worst ever signing territory. The worst crime in football is hiding, centre back is probably the one position you can half get away with it, but not for too long. Shirks taking responsibility, who imo makes him worse than Mavropanos, at least he fronts up, which can lead to mistakes. Kilman doesn't, so it doesn't get highlighted.
We've obviously got a massive overhaul in the summer, but for me, he is the biggest problem in our team and we need to cut our losses if we can. It took a while to spot, because he hides, but you can't fool people for too long. Wolves fans told us, some wouldn't have it, but they were dead right. Absolute fraud of a player.

Re: Max Kilman
Been very disappointing and not proved his worth this season. I do think there's room to improve though as this isn't him at his best. There has been glimpses of quality but needs to find consistency.

Re: Max Kilman
Said this bloke would be a horrendous signing before he joined, along with the terrible appointment of Lopetegui, it’s going to be one of the most costly errors in our clubs history.
We can’t pay him off and I can’t think of a club that would ever consider taking him. So he’ll be our CB for years to come. Hopefully we have enough money to allow him to be 4th choice and rarely play, as if he continues to be 1st choice we are going to be continually fighting for 17th place.

Re: Max Kilman
Priorities imo although pissibly in line with a lot if others since its bleedin obvious :
whole central midfield
Another young, quick, strong striker
A better CB than Kilman and Mav
Another left back
Another keeper

Re: Max Kilman
On current form if we had straight swapped Dawson for Kilman i still wouldn't be sure who got the better deal.
He doesn't dominate enough in the air for a big man and fails to be a goal threat in the opposing box unlike Dawson who would pop up with with a few headers.
Good on the ball supposedly but doesn't seem to have the confidence to bring it out of defence possibly because he knows he hasn't got the pace to recover should he lose it.
its hard to pick any positive attributes to be honest other than there is plenty of room for improvement.

Re: Max Kilman
Kilman is in the perfect position to boss the box! Yesterday’s capitulation was down to lack of leadership on the pitch! I didn’t like that potter took of Emerson either. CB position make good captains because they can see who’s not doing their jobs and can dish out a bollocking! Which was badly needed yesterday and in several other games lately!
Re: Max Kilman
Kilman is just a victim of the club being shit at transfers.
If we had got him for 5 million nobody would be expecting any better than what we're getting and his every mistake wouldn't be getting scrutinised.
Still, he'll be happy that Sit Alf is blaming Paqueta instead!

Re: Max Kilman
I didn’t know much about him, but was hoping we were getting a leader who could marshal the defence. He was Lop’s captain at Wolves so I assumed he would be his captain. Surpisingly, after forking out £40m, it turned out he wasn’t captain material at all. He doesn’t dominate the back line. He’s not bad on the ball, but not good enough to make up for his lack of aggression. He’s probably worth about half what we paid for him. Right now we would struggle to even get that much for him. I think he would work well with a Dawson like defender. Unfortunately, Todibo is another ball playing defender and Mavro makes at least one bad mistake every game. Just think we have spent the best part of £90m on those three and we still need a proper centre back.

Sullivan is the problem, how many times do we need to say it for some people to realise? Or is it just that we know we are powerless to do anything about it so naturally direct all vitriol at the symptoms of Sullivan’s tenure ( the managers he appoints )
Alf, separate your (borderline psychotic) obsession with Sullivan, with assessing individual players on their merits.
Geezer doesn't know what he's doing, we all know that. He backed the manager he appointed, two mistakes of many, but the lad coat £40mil and he's at the club, so we need to take action. Discuss that on this thread, if you want to continue your obsession with Sullivan, go on to the Sullivan thread and fill your boots
Also, go and see someone, who you can sit and talk to, and punch your Sullivan doll until the voices stop.

Re: Max Kilman
Positionally totally at fault for Brighton equaliser. Sure Brighton overloaded on Coufal’s side and a free header easily comes across in the first place but Kilman has no awareness of where Mita is and is marking no one.
The other 2 worldies come from central defensive midfield being AWOL and allowing acres of space and loads of time. On top of this Paqueta slow to close down on the first and not throwing his body at the ball to stop it.
Central midfield again costing us 2 goals.

Re: Max Kilman
We desperately needed a centre back, having left it far too late as usual. The new manager has asked for his best CB from his old place, and has probably said something along the lines of "he can play out from the back and he'll never let me down - I even made him captain"
The two clubs have negotiated a fee, Lopetegui wouldn't have had anything to do with that and at 40 million it seemed well toppy even before he kicked a ball.
Then when he arrived he looked like Rio, running with the ball out of defense and threading long accurate passes to facilitate attacks and then it didn't really matter about the 40 million because he had replaced two players who couldn't do that, just what we needed.
He didn't sustain that level of performance and then the guy who had fought to get him there got sacked (maybe too early, another debate) and he's left without his mentor, new team mates and some other prat coming in to take charge.
As Lopetegui's de facto captain and the only bloke who could understand what he was going on about, Kilman was a valuable member of the squad. The new bloke is English so we don't need his translation service any more, everyone is on a clean slate so we don't need his leadership so much and Fullkrug has the most pubes in the dressing room now anyway and our system pus big pressure on a slow defensive unit so Kilman and Mavropanos are now to blame for loads of conceded goals.
He went from expensive important player to overpriced liability in a few months, that will have had a significant mental affect on him and that is now showing in his performances.
Being scared of making a mistake leading to a goal means he's now not even committing to trying to stop goals at all costs.
He must hate that he ended up costing us 40 million quid. There's a player in there and a good sports psychologist can get him firing for the new season to the point that he is the least of our problems, which is all we can really ask for at this stage.
